SOOZE 10 year Anniversary Getaway.. All DONE!

Sooze,

Great update! So sorry to hear about your pounding head!!:headache: However glad to hear you persevered through EPCOT and Magic Kingdom in the same evening!:thumbsup2 And you were able to sneak in a couple romantic moments with DH!

Can't wait to hear about Tonga Toast, I still have not taken the opportunity to eat at 'Ohana or Kona Cafe to try it. I will next time for sure!

Looking forward to your next day!:yay:

I have already placed my order with my 7yr old DS for my birthday. It helps that he likes it too.

Great update. No Buzz advice here. So far I've only ever ridden with DS and he controls the cart. Maybe that'll change this trip:scratchin

And I'm sure DS does a WONDERFUL job of making sure you point exactly at the targets, right?

:sad2: I know.

I was to busy laughing at the girls and Jake.

Nice excuse....:sad2: .....;)

Childless Epcot sounds wonderful and I love how you had to make yourself slow down :rotfl:

DH and I are also very competitive on Buzz, I even read up on the good targets but I couldn't find them!!!!

Hopefully we can sneak a few Buzz tips out of this TR.. or I'm SURE there's a thread about it SOMEWHERE on the DIS!

Childless Epcot is a beautiful thing, especially in WS, where it's much easier to rush and miss things when you have kids around!

Absolutley LOVED this update, thanks for it, made our night here on vacation! We get so excited when we see another "Sooze" update. I love how he was chosen at Monsters Inc. and was such a good sport, love all of the awesome romantic times you are having together, those memories will last you a life time. Great you got to enjoy some MK EMH, LOVE the note from your DH regarding Toy Story, TOO FUnNY!!! Tim and I were dying laughing over that one, sounds just like us. I didn't even know those 100000 things exist, Tim must because he nails me EVERY time, I agree, it's on now, we need that list!!!;)
Can't wait for more!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope all is well with you guys. We hit the Indy Childrens museum today, such fun. We're headed to Nashville Indy tomorrow to stay in a family cabin in Brown County State Park tomorrow, should be fun. Thought of you guys as we drove into Indy.
Can't wait for the next update.popcorn::
Lesley

Girl... I KNOW you did NOT come all the way to INDY and not tell me!! Not that we could've joined you, since I had school that day... but if you ever come here again, you BEST be letting me know!!!

Now... back to my friendly voice:hug: I'm so glad you like the updates! Aiming for another one tonight... not sure why I've moved to Wednesday updates:confused:

Did you guys just love Nashville!? I think it's a hidden Indiana gem... just love those little shops and candy stores!

Glad you had fun at our museum! We go there quite often! My girls love the ice cream parlor up by the carousel the most! Have fun in Nahsville. Try to stay warm and dry!

We Love the CM too!! Going on Friday with Tyson and his friend. Have you seen the Ruby Bridges/Anne Frank/Ryan White exhibit yet? It's phenomenal!

Me too - doesn't it bring you back? I fondly remember the Apple 2Cs at my school :goodvibes
Mmmmmm :cloud9: Isn't it deceptive - doesn't look like much, but oh boy, it's good!
Aim for the volcano. Trust V. ;)

Apple 2cs:scared1: Now THAT's funny!!

Thanks for the volcano hint... I'll keep that one to myself!!

After reading Blue-Eyed Girl's TR (if you haven't read it, I highly recommend it!) my little pounding headache seemed like nothin'! But it IS disappointing when you don't feel your best when you just want to GO GO GO at WDW! Looking back, it was a good thing we hit the bed when we did, because we had a FUN-filled... LONG day coming up!

Hoping to get it started tonight! TONGA TOAST... COMING UP!!

I will, I will, I PROMISE. I knew spring break wasn't going on up there and you'd be teaching plus I thought you had performances going, AND we were at the Childrens Museum all day BUT I will never do it again without telling you. I'm hoping you were serious about the Kings Island meet up this summer, still planning on that. Yes, LOVE the updates, hoping tonight's the night! popcorn:: We LOVE Nashville, they have the best fudge and carmel corn in the WORLD, plus the Nasville House's chicken YUM!!!!
Lesley

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Nashville fudge..... now I'm drooling on my keyboard again!

Yes... I am still extremely serious about the KI date this summer!! I guess we need to start looking at dates, eh?

Still planning that update tonight. Then I reward myself with popcorn and America's Next Top Model!:rolleyes1

Can you believe this? At 7:15 am, Mickey calls us AGAIN to ask for help with Stitch!! That little booger got loose in the MK for the 2nd time during our trip. Whoever is in charge of that alien had better do some job searching, seriously...

So we are up and out the door by 8:00am. We stopped by the store at POR for some Advil. As soon as I downed 4 of those babies, I was feeling AGES better! We hopped on a bus to the TTC and grabbed a monorail to the Poly.

Standard Poly lobby shot:

We were seated in Kona by 8:50! It wasn't crowded AT ALL!

Disney08AnniversaryTrip157.jpg

The morning was starting out fantastically!! And it only got better. Since we weren't next door at O'Hana's, we weren't sure if we were going to be able to get the famous juice from there. Wouldn't hurt to ask, would it? NOT AT ALL! Because they had it! And in case you're wondering... it's called LILIKOI JUICE!!

Here is Matt... just beside himself with joy for the lilikoi!
Disney08AnniversaryTrip159.jpg

I had my 1st coffee of the trip this morning... pure bliss!!

What to order.. what to order... DUH!!! No brainer here.. I asked for the famous Tonga Toast I've heard so much about. Matt ordered steak and eggs. I swear, I thought the man was going to turn into a cow. He had SO much steak on this trip! My deepest apologies to any vegetarians on board...

So, here are a few shots of the TToast.. holy cow... it was AMAZING!!
At first arrival:
Disney08AnniversaryTrip161.jpg

A view of the inside.. those are bananas in there, folks:
Disney08AnniversaryTrip162.jpg

And Matt's boring, but delicious fare:
Disney08AnniversaryTrip160.jpg

The meal was great, our server was fabulous, the atmosphere was top-notch... and to top it off, they surprised us with an anniversary dessert:
Disney08AnniversaryTrip164.jpg

Here we are just on :cloud9:
Disney08AnniversaryTrip163.jpg

(Lesley, how do you like Matt's shirt?)

Don't ask me how I ate even more sweetness after devouring that Tonga Toast, but I made it happen!!

We will DEFINITELY visit Kona again. Just loved it!

Next stop was AK. We had to wait 10 full minutes to get on the bus... why? They had to load 2 scooters. TWO! Now, I hope I don't offend anyone here... :tiptoe: I completely feel for families that have loved ones on scooters or wheelchairs. If I ever get to take my mom back to WDW, she will be on one for sure. BUT... Matt and I were talking about if WE were travelling with a scooter... we'd drive to the parks. I don't know.. it just takes up SO much time to get those things on and off the buses. I would feel TERRIBLE making everyone wait for me or my loved one. But that's me, I guess. Flame away!

We got to AK in time for the FotLK show. We were disappointed that the lead "big guy" wasn't there that day, but his back up turned out to be pretty darned good. The lead lady was amazing as always, and so was the show. By far, the monkey scene is my favorite.. second place.. the vocal talent of those 4 lead singers... My mouth was open for most of the show!!

Next stop, single rider line for EE. I rode twice in a row (Matt could only handle it once... wimp!) The 2nd time around, I was with an older gentleman from PA. Turns out he'd never ridden before. Um... cute old man.. do you know this is a roller coaster? No.. he didn't... he got on the ride and had no idea what it was!! Turns out he loved it. Thank goodness! I was hoping I wasn't witness to a heart attack or something!!

EE shots for you:

We were craving NEMO... just craving it!! We wanted to be there at 1 to try to get front-ish row seats, but still had over an hour to kill. We sat and soaked in the sun and atmosphere, then headed to the shops to BROWSE... yes, BROWSE only. As we were looking around, we heard an awesome groove going on outside and decided to check it out. We stumbled on these guys:
Disney08AnniversaryTrip178-1.jpg

They were just groovin' out there. We watched for a few minutes.. then Matt realized he knew some of the guys out there!

This guy marched with Matt in Phantom Regiment Cadets (drum and bugle corps)
Disney08AnniversaryTrip179.jpg

This guy named Rich marched with Matt in Star of Indiana (drum and bugle corps).
Disney08AnniversaryTrip180.jpg

Rich stayed after and come up to Matt to say hi (We're not sure if they other guy recognized Matt or not. They were VERY young when they marched together!) Rich talked with us for almost a half hour. It was neat to hear about his Disney career and how much he loves working there. He's been there 18 years!

Maharajah jungle trek? Why the heck not:

Disney08AnniversaryTrip176.jpg

It was finally time for NEMO~:dance3: As soon as we arrived near the theatre, they were already letting people in. We snagged AWESOME seats in the center, front section, on the aisle.

WARNING>>>GRIPE ALERT<<<
I arrived at the Nemo show almost an hour ahead of time to get the seat I wanted. Then the ushers come around 10 minutes before the show is going to start and try to shove us in toward the ramp on the stage (which makes it impossible to see if you're sitting right next to it). Now, I'd be happy to let people past me to sit in there, but I don't want to move! It's not fair that people who waltz in ten minutes before the show get better seats than those of us who have been here for 45 minutes. Know what I'm sayin'?!?! I felt bad because I completely disregarded their requests to scoot in. I figured, if they came over to personally ask me to move, I would politely explain to them that the later arrivals are MORE than welcome to sit in those spots, but I'm staying here, thank you kindly!!

Okay. I'm done. Now.. here's something REALLY funny. I was turned, talking to Matt, when I noticed this young lad sitting in the audience, OBVIOUSLY esctatic to see this show:
Disney08AnniversaryTrip205.jpg

I know.. you might not think it's THAT funny... but it took me a few moments to get my camera out. 2 minutes before I took this, that kid's face was just scrunched up into the foulest, teenager-angst-ridden face you could imagine! I could just hear his mom saying, "we are ALL going to see this musical TOGETHER.. and YOU'RE GOING TO LIKE IT!!" It gave me a good laugh, anyway! Matt and I said a prayer that our kids will ALWAYS be excited about seeing things at Disney, even when they're teenagers! (Michelle's kids give me hope!!)

STILL LOVE NEMO!!! Even though there were LOTS of replacements. Nemo and Mr. Ray were the only lead characters that were the same as Saturday. We heard Mondays are big "off" days for lead performers. Oh well.. STILL LOVE NEMO!!!!

Okay... we've done all we came to AK to do... now let's go home, relax, refresh, and get ready for our big anniversary dinner at California Grill!!

By the way.. I had lots of cute smilies to go with my update, but I just had too many pictures.. so... sorry!!

That Tonga Toast looks artery clogging, but soo good.

What a great day.....Nemo is my favorite musical at WDW. They really did a great job with the original score/songs........

So Matt didn't know that those guys worked there? That's so cool to reconnect like that.....:thumbsup2

Kona for breakfast, then AK for the best attractions. Sounds like a winner of a day so far. Haven't been to California Grill, we usually eat on the cheap. Weather also looked great, and I can't believe how many pictures you took on EE. I am so afraid I will drop my camera, so I haven't even tried.

Love the teenager.

Maybe Kona should be on our June visit eating list! That Tonga Toast looks awfully yummY!

That teen picture cracked me up and I'd bet you dollars to donuts that's exactly what the mom said. It probably wouldn't be that funny if it was your kid acting that way but until it is.....that was funny:rotfl2: :lmao:

great update and pics.

The tonga toast looked yummy.

Love EE pics.

I have to see Nemo in Sept. I have yet to see it.

Ha! I thought the grumpy teenager dude was wearing a silver crown!

I think it's his cap... but it looks like a crown!! :lmao:

Poor teenager. He doesn't know we're all laughing at his grumpiness. Hee. :rolleyes1

Tonga Toast :yay: Love it!

That was really nice of them to do an anniversay sweet for you guys.

EE-the best ride in the parks IMHO.(although RnRC is a close second:cheer2:

Sooze's trip report :cool2:

Totally artery clogging! You can only eat something like that once every few months... to allow your body to consume it fully!!

What a great day.....Nemo is my favorite musical at WDW. They really did a great job with the original score/songs........

I completely agree. The fact the a majority of the music is new.. makes it even better!! This is my favorite part:
NOT MY DAD

So Matt didn't know that those guys worked there? That's so cool to reconnect like that.....:thumbsup2

I think he knew that Rich was doing something Disney, just didn't know where or what he was doing. It was very cool to stumble on them.... and they were REALLY good!

We definitely splurged on CG... but we did A LOT of saving for this trip, and paid for all of our meals in cash. We were very proud of ourselves that we kept our credit cards intact for this trip! The weather was beautiful. It improved daily throughout our trip. My camera is pretty small, so it is easy to hang on to with one hand! My favorite is the downward view of all of the track!

Love the teenager.

Me too.. he made my day. Probably wouldn't if he were my own, though!

Maybe Kona should be on our June visit eating list! That Tonga Toast looks awfully yummY!

It was a great little restaurant, and the atmosphere was neat (being in the open lobby area). I didn't have a toddler, though.. but I think Shae would've done great there, too!

That teen picture cracked me up and I'd bet you dollars to donuts that's exactly what the mom said. It probably wouldn't be that funny if it was your kid acting that way but until it is.....that was funny:rotfl2: :lmao:

Seriously.. if my kid was THAT mad about seeing a musical, I probably would have him wait for us outside... let him ride EE while we were doing the show. He was NOT happy!!

great update and pics.

The tonga toast looked yummy.

Love EE pics.

I have to see Nemo in Sept. I have yet to see it.

I sure hope you and Biff get to see it. Now watch, you'll think it's the dumbest show ever and wonder what the heck is wrong with me!!:confused3

Ha! I thought the grumpy teenager dude was wearing a silver crown!

I think it's his cap... but it looks like a crown!! :lmao:

Yes.. it's his cap.. but you're right, the silver part looks crown-ish.

I know, it's sad that I am poking fun at him... but he's the one with a sour attitude in Disney, right?

Sooze's trip report :cool2:

Yes.. Kona was very good to us, and we didn't even ask! It was on our ressies and they took care of the rest.

I completely agree about EE being the best ride in all of WDW!!! I could ride it all day!!

Whoever is in charge of that alien had better do some job searching, seriously...
That or whoever authorized the recording in the first place! ;)

They were just groovin' out there. We watched for a few minutes.. then Matt realized he knew some of the guys out there!
Oh my gosh - what are the odds?! Very cool. :cool1:

OBVIOUSLY esctatic to see this show:

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: I'm seriously doing the silent, shaking, work-laugh over this!

Oh boy, my favorite! :yay:

Totally agree!

Totally agree again :thumbsup2

I thought he was wearing a crown and a wig :rotfl2:

Can either of you tell me your 'technique' from multi-quoting when you reply to someone?! I can do it, but it takes forever with lots of copy/pasting. I'm sure you have a shortcut? Thanks for hanging along with me. Sorry it's taking FOREVER to finish this sucker!

Holy cow.. where have you been? Did you get to see my picture of Donald that I drew? I thought of you and Candi when I saw my finished product!!

The Tonga toast was delish.. but VERY rich! Something you can only eat once every year or so!!

Hey Sooze! Come back and finish!! Dh and I are going in a few weeks and I want to get all the scoop before we go! :goodvibes

I KNOW!! I have had the WORST time getting my act together enough to find time to update this. Hopefully tonight's the night!!
