Soooo UPSET Wonder 12/30

Ok...I just went back and read this entire thread. NO WHERE does the OP say that SHE wants a free upgrade or stateroom credit. She said that HER TRAVEL AGENT told her that she will ask for either an upgrade or credit.

When the OP found out from her TA that they could not change her cabin, but that they recognise her "concern and worries" and so will leave a "surprise" in her cabin. And possibly a change of cabins once on board, if available at that time. The OP seemed VERY happy with the idea of a "surprise", and did not say a word about wanting a free upgrade or credit. The only thing she said that could possibly be misunderstood is when she said wanted to call DCL to see if they could "do something", which I took to mean, putting her into a different cabin of the same catergory but with a plexi verandah. Just because you're in a "guarantee" doesn't mean that you can't call and ask if a different cabin happens to be available.

I think the OP was just trying to vent a little initially, on a message board where she thought she'd find other people who would understand her disappointment over the solid wall verandah. I, for one, do understand her disappointment. And I don't believe she ever said that she had a problem with DCL per se, just with the particular cabin that was assigned to. Everyone has a right to be either pleased or displeased with their cabin location, guarantee or not! Again, she was only trying to vent a little. :)

I don't see anything that the OP said that would indicate that she wanted something for nothing, or that she was "working the system". Good grief, people.....

pfishgirl we must've been posting at the same time. lol

P.S. I don't know pfishgirl at all, in fact I had never seen her screen name before this thread, but they way the facts were getting twisted, just bugged me.

Thank you seaspray. This was my thoughts as well. Maybe we could move on now and let this thread end. Pity she could not vent with friends or better yet have her own opinion.

Pfishgirl....I don't normally post on this board, but on another board you mentioned that you were booking this cruise last minute and in fact were surprised that there was space available which would account for there being only a gty status for your stateroom. I am confused as to what happened then if in fact it was a gift and booked 7 months ago.?????? Kathy

dcl fun....Originally we were going to try and Book a Cruise ourselves. In my other post I asked which is better Christmas or New Years...I did NOT know THEN that we already HAD a reservation... Like I said it was booked and kept from me as a Surprise until I started talking about booking the same cruise. soo My family got nervous and let me in on the Surprise. Sorry for the confusion.. Oh and please don't post to me on 2 boards at once and ask the same questions because I don't want to waste board posting spaces OR get in trouble because I was told personal conversations were not permitted..But Thanks for the posts...Please feel free to PM me though... Thanks again..

Sea Spray & faireygod mother... THANK YOU very much..... I never intended for this to get sooooo outta hand.... :flower: and I agree with your posts..

OK so can we ALL agree to just let this conversation drop PLEASE ???
BUT thank you to ALL for your posts I really do appreciate them...

pfishgirl. I agree lets move on to the Holidays and future cruises. May all have a Happy and Healthy New Year.

Hoping when you get back you will let us know how the cruise went, and share actual experience with the solid wall, as well as impressions of the larger spaces because of the accessibility features of that cabin. Happy New Year.

Well the room was Huge, there was a walk in closet and the bathroom wasn't 2 seperate rooms it was one big room. We had a problem with trying to get hot water, it was always only luke warm. Anyway the solid wall veranda REALLY did stink. There were NO lounge chairs just a table and 6 sitting up chairs. We couldn't see a darn thing without standing up. So we never did sit outside with our tea in the morning. :guilty: People above us deck 9 i think, had a perfect view of our veranda if they were at the banister looking down. Garbage was also found on our veranda several times. Plastic lids to cups, napkins, etc. I guess whatever people dropped from above or blew in the wind. We even found pennies. The door leading out to the veranda was VERY hard to use, it wouldn't slide. The fireworks all along the shore line was really nice and i think the atlantis did a great job with them. :cheer2: on New Years Eve. We had complimentry champaign in plastic glasses that have New Years 2004 on them. The weather was cooler then i thought it would be and was windy and cloudy at CastAway. We received several gifts, the 1st was a towel and 2 pins and a beach bag from the castaway club, then we received a box of chocolates and a beautiful lithograph, and i know i am forgetting something else. We also received a model of the DCL wonder ship from the brige officer (a whole other story there) oh and our TA gave us a $25 onboard credit and dcl gave us a "surprise package" bottle of wine, a fruit platter and some dcl souvenirs. Anyway we did book another cruise while we were there for the 7 night western caribbean and we even picked our room. We chose the smaller room with the plexiglass veranda instead. :boat: now i have to wait another whole year yet before we go. We leave 1-28-06 my DH birthday and will be on it still for my birthday on 2-1 :earboy2: Thanks for asking about the cruise. All in All we still had fun even with the little set backs. :D

Welcome back! Even though things weren't perfect, I'm glad you were able to make the best out of the situation. Sounds like you got tons of gifts!!!

Stacy:
We were in cabin 7138 last year - we requested handicap for me, as I was still in my wheelchair. The room was very nice and large. I do understand your situation though. I surely hope they changed for you and everything went okay.
Please enjoy everythng else.

HI STACY,

SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAD A GREAT TRIP!!!

I AM REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO YOUR TRIP REPORT, I KNOW WE ALL WILL GET TIPS (GOOD & BAD) YOU SURE GOT LOT'S OF GIFTS, IS THIS NORMAL?

WHAT PART OF JERSEY ARE YOU FROM? I AM NORTHERN.

AGAIN CAN'T WAIT TO READ YOUR REPORT.

HAPPY NEW YEAR & BIRTHDAYS :cheer2:

PATRICIA

Glad you had a nice trip.

(There aren't lounge chairs on any of the verandas execept the suites....just so you know on your next cruise when you get the plexiglass veranda. Our cat 6 door was very difficult to use as well. And our water was never better than lukewarm. Those problems could have happened in a different room. We still had a great cruise.)

Okay, your suspicion about the solid wall was right, but you enjoyed anway and good for you. I have a solid wall in 7132 in less than two weeks and it will be regular size, so I am forewarned--but mine is an upgrade so I shouldn't complain. The trash from above is deplorable, and I am sorry that happened to you. Interesting to hear how the bathroom was different in your stateroom. Curious if anyone can get a diagram of such of room from DCL to post on a site somewhere. And definitely need to be on the lookout for what's up w/ no hot water?!

Best news of all--you booked another one while on-board!! We did a birthday cake at dinner for a fmily member on both previous DCL cruises (the cake is nothing great, but the designer white chocolate piece on top is fun and yummy, and it is just festive and happy).

Enjoy looking forward to your next cruise. A whole year of antici.....pation(Rocky Horror fans should appreciate that).

We live in Ocean County NJ, so I guess that is Central Jersey. (at the shore)

As for the gifts, the Castaway Towel package I believe was a normal free gift because we are new Castaway Members..

The lithograph and boxed chocolates and some other odds and ends, I believe are also normal when you travel on a Holiday. We were there for New Years so each night we had a surprise waiting in our room for us.

Of course we did also receive those funny towel animals and chocolates each night from our stateroom host with the bed turndown. (those are normal)

The $25 on board credit was from our Travel Agent as a Gift to us

The wine and fruit platter was a surprise gift because we were having some doubts about staying on the cruise with the room and some confussions about our reservations and things so someone from dcl set that up for us to ease or worries...

Thanks for the early birthday wishes, I can now finish planning my DH surprise 35th birthday party since the holidays and our cruise is over...

Stacy, I am so glad you enjoyed your trip, after all! Welcome home and Happy New Year!

Fondly,
Ursula

Thank You very much and Yes even with the solid wall we still had a good time. We actually even enjoyed the people we sat with at dinner, normally the table doesn't talk much well NOT this time...Our table wouldn't shut up, on 2 of the nights we were the last ones left in the restaurant and it would of been the 3rd as well if it wasn't New Years Eve that night and we all went our seperate ways and then met up accidently later while getting coffee and desserts..haha..

OK so now how do I get one of those counter things to work so I can countdown to our next :boat: ????

Oh and out of ALL of you that have been on the Magic for the 7 nights, are the wonder and magic set up the same? are there more restaurants or the same 3? Any excursions that you did that is a MUST?? DH & DS want to scuba dive while on the islands so I need to find something else to do. My heart condition and medical DR tell me it is a NO NO !!

Thanks for ALL your imput
I will check out the other boards as well to see what everyone else say

The Magic and Wonder are nearly identical:

Lumieres replaces Tritons, but its a change in name and decor
Beat Street/Route 66, change in name and decor
The lobby decor is different - similarly classy
Topsiders replaces Beach Blanket Buffet and is open for dinner. But its pretty much the same.

hi
glad you made the best of it and had a great trip!!

even though you didn't get the verandah you wanted at least you were fortunate enough to have a verandah to enjoy(wish i did but can't see paying the extra $900 for one :)

happy newyear! :flower1:

Thats not true. We had a handicap room cat 5 on our first cruise and there was a lounge chair on our verandah. It was the same type they have out on secretdeck 7. It was very nice out there, lounge chair, 4 chairs and a table...only down side was that you couldn't see out to the water with that darn solid metal verandah and that if you looked up people looking over the back of the ship looked right down on you. And also we had people out on the secret 7 decklooking around the verandah wall into our verandah a few times.

I like that the ships have the same layout, save for the mostly cosmetic differences between the buffets, lumiere's/triton's, and deck 3 adult entertainment names. I feel at home and know my way around, and I feel like so will DS (well, at least he knows his way to the basketball court). So it is easy to feel familiar going back and forth between the two ships. I think both ships have now converted ESPN Zone to the Stack and all the rest that went with that dry dock. For a while there one ship was switched but not yet the other.

Stacy--Central Jersey, so surprised you didn't sail during "Jersey Week", a.k.a. the NJEA convention week, which was also election day week. My sister lives in Monmouth County, which she also describes as central jersey, and that is when she goes to WDW (and if not for DNephew getting sick the night before the trip and a subsequent "series of unfortunate" circumstances, we would have been there this past Novemberwith them.--They re-booked WDW for their spring break, we were already cruising on the Magic for ours, so the upcoming Wonder cruise was a replacement trip for our family).

I see you have the countdown clock. Now go spread the "gospel" of DCL and tell everyone to go. Notice how they ask about "the Disney cruise", whereas friends would only ask about "the cruise" for any other crusie line...
