Here's my thing. I was lucky enough to receive in the snail mail a PIN for free QS dining (for all levels value/mod/deluxe) for my 12/7-12/13 which I upgraded to regular dining (cost $100 per person). If FD does come out July 12th, being booked at a mod I would (technically) get a rebate of my dining upgrade cost.

However, I would then have to take into account several factors one being that, looking at the VISA dates, FD may not cover my whole trip - I arrive on the 7th FD would kick in 10th meaning 2 bookings AND paying the difference for the new ticket prices but I don't know if I booked before or after the rise - I booked 2nd week of March.

My questions are is there any likelihood the GP code dates would be different, so might cover my check-in date or would I have to split stay and secondly were the price increases before or after I booked. Oh, and please tell me anything else you think I need to know & opinions always welcome :)

Yep. I ramble :teeth:

No, the general public free dining dates will be EXACTLY the same as the Disney Visa free dining dates that were released today.

I am waiting to see if they are going to offer FD in late January 2013 before booking our trip. Just curious, I've heard this twice now that people are thinking Disney is going to release some FD dates on July 12th. Why are people thinking this? :confused3 I hope you are right in your prediction! I'd love to go ahead and book our trip so I can make our ADRs!

In summary...

The dates will be identical to the DV offer
You would have to do a split stay
You would have to pay the new ticket prices (new prices went into effect in June)
You may have to switch resorts/room categories based on availability
You may have to change rooms with a split stay

I would say that if you are happy with your current booking, leave it as is.:thumbsup2

It was a credible rumor posted by a fellow Diser, but CMs confirmed the date of the release to several people who booked the Disney Visa offer today. The January dates will likely not be out until later in the summer, though.

Because the Disney Visa free dining dates were released and have been being booked all day. Disney Visa holders always receive the free dining offers 3 days before they are released to the general public. So, therefore, the general public free dining offer, which will be for the exact same dates as the Disney Visa offer will be released on Thursday, July 12. It's a guarantee. Note, though, the current Disney Visa offer does not include any free dining dates past December, so the offer on Thursday should not either.

Thank you so much! You made that very easy to understand and you're right, if I saved anything (I paid $500 total to upgrade 5 adults to DDP) it wouldn't be much nor worth the possible hassle it would incur. So, I will stay as I am :)

It verbally states on the Disney Visa website that the offer will open to the general public on Thursday, July 12.

Thanks. After I posted my comments, I found an article about it online.

I never thought about having to change rooms if doing a split stay. Is this standard procedure even if the same room category is booked for the same resort for both parts of a split stay?

Yes, it just depends on what they have available for your check in date. We have done a split stay 3 times for free dining and only had to switch rooms once time out of three.
