Sony Playstation network

Microsoft deals with more hacked accounts on a daily basis, I'd be more worried with an account with them. And they've had their networks down for up two weeks before, a service you pay for.

Anycase we can still get to Netflix. That's all I care about. And nothing to the bank account yet.
 
We were just notified this morning that we have 4 fraudulent charges on our Disney Visa card from Pennsylvania. I had meant to call to cancel the card and never got around to it. Now the card is cancelled and they are sending new ones. Today is the day I usually pay online, and I can't now. I have to go to Chase and pay the bill in person. All of our online activity is suspended until this is resolved.

We've never had fraudulent charges in all the years we've had our credit cards.

If you haven't cancelled your card yet, do it now!
 
I'm so glad I cancelled it already!

The upside to this is that the kids are playing outside again!
 

The spam emails are starting as well. Sony really has shown how NOT to handle this type of situation.
 
It's amazing how you all are pointing fingers at Sony. With 77 million users world wide, it wouldn't surprise me a few people would have spam emails or credit card fraud that are also Sony users. It's not like ALL Sony users are seeing these things happen.

And I still get spam emails from people I know. There's nothing new about that stuff. Just set your spam filter a little higher.

Also, it's not just PSN. Sony has also had to shut down their online gaming division. So, all their online games are currently down meaning a lot of upset customers there as well. I know a few who will be leaving their current SOE games for others due to this.

There is no ETA about when services will be brought back up fully. I have even heard it could be the end of the month.

Sony will lose customers due to this. Customers change services for LESS then the issues this has caused. This is really going to have a negative impact on Sony, both current and future.

Already reports that people are trading in their PS3 & purchasing XBOX at higher percentages than prior history.
 
And how many times have you had a new credit card or notice sent in the mail by a bank/creditor stating "your account might have been compromised". I have received 2 cards from the bank over this.

If a credit card company can have their servers compromised, any one can.

And the reason for the long delay of coming back online. Recently Sony created a new division, and was transferring all of their online stuff to new servers. This process was supposed to happen over 6 months or more. However, they have had to ramp this process up and they are completing this prior to going back online.

If you or your children have told you anything, about a month prior to the blackout you were required to accept the new terms and conditions upon logging into to Sony. This was the beginning transition to the new online services.

I think a month is a pretty reasonable time frame for something that was supposed to take 6 months.

On top of that, Microsoft has been offline for a far greater time period overall than this first time for Sony. Christmas black out of 2007, 2008, and 2009 when millions of users could not log in for weeks (2 weeks to a month). And they did very very little to compensate their users who PAY for the service. I believe Sony has gone above and beyond for a service that is FREE. Playstation Plus users.... they get a discount on games available on PSN, it's not like their missing out on anything. And they're still getting another month free.

Ohh boo hoo you can't play Black Ops... the world is coming to an end. And isn't every mother complaining about the amount of hours their child plays video games. Well shouldn't they be thanking Sony for getting their kid's butt off the couch?
