Sony mini-Dv or DVD camcorder

Does anyone have any pros and cons on either the mini or a DVD camcorder. It will be a Sony.

MiniDV generally has better quality and is easier to edit after the fact. The DVD ones have more compression (therefore worse picture quality) and it's more difficult to edit the resulting DVD. The upside is convenience, it's hard to beat the ease of popping out a DVD from your camcorder and tossing it straight into your DVD player...

Like Groucho said, the mini DV has a much better image quality. The mini DVD are great to just pop out of the camera and play on a DVD player and watch. Transferring the video to an editing also seems to be a little easier and quicker when using the mini DVD, but in my opinion it doesn't beat the difference in image quality of the mini DV. Also, most of the mini DV camera's I;ve handled seem to be a little smaller and a touch lighter IMO.

Dennise, unfortunately, I haven't kept up with the latest models of mini DV camcorders. We have the Sony TRV-22 and have really enjoyed it. I know several other people with Sony's and they have all been very happy with them, so I imagine you will like which ever one you choose. Just look at the features available and decide which ones are most important to you and see which of the camera's fall into your budget that fit your needs and desires.
