Ok, so this is my 1st time to post in the photography board because I need help and figured I should go straight to the pros!! :thumbsup2 I'm looking into purchasing a new camera for my upcoming cruise and I was wondering if anyone has used the Sony DSC-H5 with the 7.2 mp? I really like Sony's but if there's one better out there for around the same price range I would REALLY appreciate the advice!! :goodvibes

Hi, I have the Sony H-5 and like it a lot. I haven't used it to its full advantage, because I've always had a point and shoot. I'm in the market now for a good basic digital camera book that I can use to learn more (ideas anyone?). Also I have Corel Paintshop Pro X and I need a basic book on how to use that (everything seems to be directed to Adobe Photoshop:confused3 ).

Anyway, back to the camera, the zoom is awesome and I've taken closeup shots of flowers, bees, etc. that I've cropped and the detail is amazing! You could go with the H2 for a cheaper price, but I really like the large LCD screen on the H5. A lot of people here like the Canon S3 and I have a small Canon Elph that I've had a few years and it works well. My advice would be to try each of them out in the store and see which is more comfortable to use for you.

Good luck and happy shopping!

Lynn

My wife has it and loves it.

You may want to also look at the Panasonic FZ50. It has and external flash hotshoe.
