that wont realase man hunt any time soon because it got an ao rating because it makes murder look fun
they are acting like babies just because it is an ao game

How old are you? You aren't old enough to buy or play an AO game anyway, are you?

im not but is it just me or should nintendo and sony not back down from realesing a ao game it would take rid of nintendos kiddie imagi and its freedom of speech

Nintendo has a policy, they will not sell or license games that carry an AO rating. And as far as I am concerned, Nintendo has no kiddy image. How would having an AO game get rid of it if they had one, anyways? They didn't make it. I think a game with tons of blood and gore and other inappropriate things is pretty immature.

Besides, if Take Two did decide to keep it AO, it wouldn't sell well at ALL. Almost no major retailers carry AO games, which is where most people as far as I know get games. Of course there is always stores like GameStop or online, but it still hurts sale a LOT.

didnt know that thanks
and many people say it is kiddie
also it is only rated ao because rating people thinks it shows murder as it being fun

Just so you know, Microsoft has the same policy on AO games, so you can be mad at them too.

Well it does, doesn't it?

And now that Microsoft is trying to become more family friendly, does that mean the only "mature" console is the Playstation 3? I just can't imagine how people think that because a console doesn't have dozens of games with tons of gore and other inappropriate things it must be kiddy?

Isn't it that the game that showed a cathedral in England or something and violent killing in it? If it is, I heard that either Sony or Nintendo went to talk to England about it to cancel from giving it to the public, but they already sold a lot so instead they quit selling it. I think.

Your thinking of Resistance: Fall of Man.

I honesttly feel that the ESRB needs to quit. I played a GTA game once on accedent, and my friend said it was T rated. I liked it a little. It was freedom, In Mario you cant fly a helicopter, take a car if you need it ect. I feel that it should be the parents choice what kids play, with no input freom ESRB.

If it weren't for the ESRB, how would parents be able to tell if a game was good for their kids. It is not like the ESRB is banning the game, they are just giving it an AO rating which effectively makes everyone else ban it.;)

Here is a good article on the subject in the Wii IGN mailbag.

2 Manhunt 2's?

Hey guys,

Do you think Rockstar could make two versions of Manhunt 2? One would be watered down to a M rating and could be sold at Best Buy, Walmart, and the like, as well as in the UK. The other would be the uncut version and could be found online or through stores that sell AO games.

-Nick

Hopefully it won't come to that, as Manhunt 2 is extremely violent, but could still make it as an M game through an appeal process. Having played it I can definitely understand why the game got AO, but I'd like some agreement to be made, and hopefully it doesn't mean taking out the immersive (and disturbing) Wii motion controls.

If it doesn't, perhaps we'll see some AO version available as an uber-collector's edition or something, but it just isn't going to sell as well. It's going to take some time before we can really say what will/won't happen with this one. Rockstar may bend, the ESRB may bend, or we may see some two-release solution as you suggested. All I know is I've played the game, it's definitely deserving of AO (no matter how much I hate that fact), and I wouldn't want it changed. The real shame is that Sony and Nintendo won't put out AO games, but of course the reason for that is consumers (parents specifically) are blind, and the game would be in little Timmy's hands in no time flat anyways.
Tough call.

Thanks for telling me-I forgot the name:)

At the age I am now, I already think M is enough for me. Half Life is freaky and it isn't even AO. Wait, why is it rated AO anyway?

Without ESRB how on earth would parents be able to decide if it is appropriate for their kid or not? It's not like they are going to go online and look up everything they can about it like most gamers do. Like Saxoon said, ESRB has no say in how most retailers will not sell AO games.

My guess is that they do it for a reason, I admit videogames are fun but,
do you want a kid getting a game with a maniac destroying everything in sight. Me no think its a good example.

I'm happy that they won't release it for their platforms. We really don't need games out there that glorify killing or other acts of violence. There's enough in this world in real life. We do not need to be promoting it.

ESRB is just like the movie ratings. They don't say that people can't buy the games. Just on who can buy them. It's not censorship in anyway. It's called acting responsibly.

As it is, not enough parents pay attention to ratings now. Or they simply don't care.
