Well, I finally flew on Song last week and I was impressed. I bought my tickets in April for my June/July trip and paid $185 from JFK. DH left a day after me and his ticket cost $155. So it started off great with very reasonable fares.
I got to JFK at 6 AM for a 7:30 AM flight. Curbside check-in, no waiting and no fuss. Was asked for ID, but not for DS11 and DS17. Went right on through to the gate area. There was nothing wonderful at the gate, even though I've read about gate entertainment and even yoga. But maybe because it was so early in the morning.
My boarding passes had Zone 2. When they called for boarding at 7 AM, they explained the Zone system, and called Zone 2 first. Our seats were Row 4 A, B, and Row 5 A. I sat next to DS11 and DS17 sat directly behind his brother at the window seats. I liked being so close to the front of the plane, it was the very front with the cockpit right there. The pilot let some kids sit in the pilot chair and spoke to them for a few minutes before telling them to go back to their seats.
The flight left on time, and the attendants were cute, while explaining emergency procedured saying "after you stop screaming, put on the oxygen mask..." And when they dimmed the lights for take-off, they said it was to enhance the attractiveness of the attendants. They called themselves Song Talent, instead of flight attendants.
They had menus and we bought a bagel, muffin and a can of pringles for $8. Sodas are still free.
They passed around Game Boys and blankets.
I really like the color scheme of the seats, the bold green, purple and blue. The seats didn't feel any wider than before, although I've read they're supposed to be bigger. But the leather was nice.
The TVs weren't installed yet, but they made everyone promise to fly Song again because by October the TVs will be installed.
I really like Song and will always look to them first. Even when their fares are high, I'll keep checking because the fares always come down. The plane looked new and so clean.
So that's my plug for Song!
Oh yeah, at MCO, security made me take off my sandals!
