We have decided to combine our mother/son and father daugther dances together.

Any sugguestion for songs?

My Wish - Rascal Flatts
Wind Beneath My Wings - Bette Midler

We're having a dance with DF/FMIL and me w/FFIL (my father is not attending my wedding, so my FFIL has been so gracious and has offered to dance with me, and we're doing it together with DF & his DM so we don't draw attention to the fact my DF won't be there)

We haven't found THE song yet, but I'm really leaning towards "Because you loved me" by Celine Dion

HTH!

I wanted to do one of those things where it starts out with a slow song and then breaks into something funky like Thriller of the Apache song.
My FDH is not a fan. He also shot down my modern english Stop the World and Melt with you(he said it's too fast).
Have no idea what OUR Song is-we don't have one b/c he listens to Talk Radio and not interested in Music. ARGHH! I feel your pain.
I'm gonna do Butterfly Kisses to start with my dad and then break into Thriller and have the bridesmaids and groomsmen join in. We need to get practicing the choreography, but I'm kind of in the same boat. It's not bad though,
I'm sure the moms will have songs they like to suggest?

yeah we arent doing something like that. We are just doing our father/daugther and mother/son dance together. So I'm just looking for a song that makes sence for both. We are both shy and we hate dancing so we figured that was the best way.

I love Barry Manilow's You Are My Child

It was the final song on Murphy Brown song to her son

Don't know how you feel about country music, but "stealing cinderella" by chuck wicks is a great tune and very thematic!!

I came to see her daddy for sit down man to man
It wasn't any secret i'd be asking for her hand
I guess that's why he left me waiting in the living room by myself
with at least a dozen pictures of her sitting on a shelf

[Chorus]
She was playing Cinderella
She was riding her first bike
Bouncing on the bed and looking for a pillow fight
Running through the sprinkler with a big popsicle grin
Dancing with her dad, looking up at him
In her eyes i'm Prince Charming
But to him i'm just some fella
riding in and stealing Cinderella

I leaned in towards those pictures to get a better look at one
When I heard a voice behind me say "Now, ain't she something, son?"
I said "Yes, she quite a woman" and he just stared at me
Then I realized that in his eyes she would always be

Playing Cinderella
Riding her first bike
Bouncing on the bed and looking for a pillow fight
Running through the sprinkler with a big popsicle grin
Dancing with her dad, looking up at him
In her eyes i'm Prince Charming
But to him i'm just some fella riding in and stealing Cinderella

He slapped me on the shoulder
Then he called her in the room
When she threw her arms around him
That's when I could see it too

She was Playing Cinderella
Riding her first bike
Bouncing on the bed and looking for a pillow fight
Running through the sprinkler with a big popsicle grin
Dancing with her dad, looking up at him
If he gives me a hard time
I can't blame the fella
I'm the one who's stealing Cinderella

yeah that song is to much of a father/daugther dance song.. We are doing the father/daugther and mother/son dance at the same time. so we will both be out on the floor. so we need a nutural song.

Just my 2 cents. I wanted to dance with both of my parents (and DH with his mom) to Thank You by Natalie Merchant. I could never thank my parents enough for all they did for me growing up and as an adult. The lyrics are simple and state how I felt. My mom passed 4 months before my wedding and daddy was too sick with cancer to dance, so I never got to. I still cry whenever I hear it:

You've been so kind and generous
I don't know why you keep on giving
For your kindness I'm in debt to you
For your selflessness--my admiration
For everything you've done
You know I'm bound--I'm bound to thank you for it

Lalalalalala...

Hey, hey
You've been so kind and generous
I don't know why you keep on giving
For your kindness I'm in debt to you
And I never could have gone this far without you
For everything you've done
You know I'm bound--I'm bound to thank you for it

Lalalalalala...

Oh I want to thank you for so many gifts
You gave me love and tenderness
I want to thank you
I want to thank you for your generosity,
The love, and the honesty that you gave to me
I want to thank you, show my gratitude,
My love and my respect for you
I want to thank you

Oh, I want to thank you, thank you,
Thank you, thank you,
Thank you, thank you
Thank you, thank you,
Thank you, thank you,
Thank you, thank you,
Thank you, thank you,
Thank you..
I want to thank you, thank you,
Thank you, thank you,
Thank you, thank you,
Thank you, thank you...

I vote Celine Dion - Because You Loved Me. The words are awesome. My sister and I played it for my mom in the car one day...just said it reminded us of her and we all ended up crying....a lot....I mean I had to pull the car over!!!
