Has anyone flown using Song Airline? I've been watching the airfares waiting to book and they suddenly jumped $30....went ahead and booked it last night but now am having second thoughts! Total for 2 people for a direct flight from Boston to Orlando is $408....flight leaves at 8:45 am and return flight is 8:10 pm so the times are pretty good to make the most of the days.

Jet Blue would have $350 for 2 people but that was leaving at 6am and my husband wouldn't let do it as he refusing to go "commando" style :D

We really don't know anything about either of the airlines!

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks!
Michelle

Song is really Delta - their new "low-cost" carrier. I haven't flown Song (we will on our trip in March), but I've had generally good experiences with Delta.

Can't help you with Jet Blue - because we've never flown them.

Good luck

Hi all, My daughter flew Song in Aug. and liked it very much. Leather seats and by early 2004 they will have Direct TV on all flights. They hand out Gameboys until then. They are similar to Jet Blue. I think they have a little trouble being on time though. I am flying them on 2/15 to MCO with my 11 yr old for a last minute trip to WDW!!!!! I was checking airfares for awhile and to my surprise Song dropped their fares out of JFK in early Feb. to $277!!!! This is the MOST I have ever paid for fare but since it was less than 2 weeks away I thought it was fantastic!! Non-stop too........ You can print your boarding pass too!! I'll post when we get back and let you know how it was.:)

I've flown Song from BOS to MCO and back twice already, last August and this January. The lowest price they had in Jan was about $180 R/T, and they price by what's available, so unless people change flights and make more availabilty, the price will only go up from there.
In August, they didn't have the TV's, but in Jan. the flight down had them, the flight back didn't.
Keep checking on your flight, both down and back. If the price drops for any reason on either flight, call them and get a credit. Also, it pays to keep an eye on the flights; Song has added and cancelled flights since the took over from Delta (I know they are the same company, really, but it's easier to pretend they aren't).

Have fun.

I too have been tracking BOS - MCO Song and JetBlue fares for a November trip (we are < 20 miles from Logan). I think $408 is as good as it will get from Song, barring a fare sale/ fare war. The reason it went up so sharply over the weekend was the end of a sale Delta/ Song was having. We are a family of 4, so I am kicking myself for not booking right away, but I have a spouse who is unwilling to commit to flight times 10 months out (of course, since we are DVC members, we already have our home resort booked from 11 months out:hyper: ). Now, what you could do would be to book Song for the way down, and JetBlue for the way back (actually considering this), or whichever way your flight time vs price equilibrium takes you, and save a few bucks this way.

As for airline quality, we flew Song in October and again in January, and were quite pleased with the service. Our southbound flight in January was both packed and late, that latter being a factor of de-icing problems at Logan so not Song's fault. On none of our 4 flights did we have the much promoted TV screens installed, but their website swears they will be in all Song planes by March 2004. JetBlue's flights are at less convenient times, but are cheaper, and the planes already have the TVs in all seats. We are holding off our booking until JetBlue comes out with November schedules, then I'll pressure my DW to commit to flight times and dates. The lesson to both of us is that we just shoulda booked last week::yes:: .

Have flown Song twice now. Direct flights from Logan to Orlando. My fare for out trip in August is about what yours is. I've never paid less than $225 at this point so the $215 I got a month ago is fine. Both our flights, one in August and one in December, were early arriving. We took off about 5 minutes early. We like Song very much. I've tried comparing them to JetBlue but Song has the times I want to fly, at the price I want to pay. And I love the on-line check-in if I'm traveling with only carry on.

FYI, goofy4tink, we did on-line check in 24 hours ahead for our January flight even with checked baggage; the airline said we should, so we did. We just gave the bags to the skycaps at the curb and headed in with the boarding passes I had printed off the Song site the night before. Pretty cool, huh? So the really well functioning website and on-line checkin would be another advantage for Song. JetBlue's website looks good, but I have not yet tested its functionality.

I have never flown Song but last night I booked our Christmas trip for next year on Song out of Logan. We are leaving Dec. 27th and coming home on Jan. 1. I am paying $244.00 p.p. which I did not think was too bad considering the timeframe. If I had booked my flight down when it first became available and then booked the return 5 days later I could have save $44.00 on each ticket.I was afraid to book one way because I didn't know what fare would show up for our return on Jan. 1. Return flights on Jan. 2 are showing up at over $300.00 one way. I book 11 months out because I can only fly during school vacation weeks so the good times sell out quickly.

Hi,

We have flown Song round trip from Boston to MCO twice. Once last Aug/Sept and then the second time just a week ago. The planes that we were on both going to FL and back to MA did not have any of the high-tech stuff in them yet.

Jet Blue started flying out of Logan in Jan 04 so we are booked on them for our upcoming Sept 04 trip as they were cheaper then Song and their planes are new and all of the high tech stuff is installed on all of their planes.

We've flown Song 3 times and I have nothing but great things to say about them ! We have arrived early every time. Our most recent trip was last week out of Newark. We had the planes with the TV's on the way down and back and had so much fun !!! They have a music trivia game on the TV that you can play against other passengers ... we had a blast !!! The flight crew was terrific. Out flight down was pretty empty and some of the crew played the trivia game along with us. They gave our 7 year old dd lots of attention .... sat with her a played along with her, cheering her on !!

We've had wonderful experiences so far .. they will be getting more of my business in the future !

Cindy
