Somewhat new to DVC...can I do this?

I booked 2 rooms at OKW, one for DH and I and the other for DD and DSIL. Now DD finds out that she can only stay 3 of the 5 days I booked. My brother and SIL would love to come for the remaining 2. Would this be OK? Do I need to call DVC to make name changes? Are the additional fees? Hope someone can answer.

It will be okay. Since four are allowed in a studio (I'm assuming you have a studio), the easiest thing will be to simply put all four on the reservation now. Whoever checks in will get all four keys to the world. There will be no additional fees to do this.

If they might be charging to the room, it might be best to make those 2 days a seperate res. Otherwise, there is one bill and your DD and brother would have to settle it up (most likely on DD's credit card since she checked in first).

There are no fees and no point cost. You'll keep DD's res # and get a new res # for your brother. Make sure there is good availability before you do it - it is possible when you cancel 2 days on one, someone could sneak them out from under you!

The points for the cancelled days will go back into your account momementarily, but then you'll use them for the new res.

If you cancel the 5-day reservation and want to make a 3-day plus a 2-day reservation, keep in mind that any waitlisted reservations will not only grab the 2-day reservation, but could also potentially grab the 3-day reservation. MS should be able to let you know the status of availability.

If you have enough points, the way to avoid this is to make a new 3-day reservation and a new 2-day reservation (all based on availability), and then cancel the 5-day reservation.

Keep in mind that if you do a 3/2 split, your DD will have to check-out and the others could not check in-until 4:00 pm. Most likely they would probably not get the same room.

Does everyone need to have charging to the room? You can use regular credit cards everywhere as well as a room charge. For the DD's room just get keys without charging privileges. Or alternatively, get 4-keys, two with charging and 2 without. When the Brother and SIL come for the last two days give them the keys without charging.

You didn't mention what kind of room you got for DD. Keep in mind that if you keep one room for the full 5-days, when Brother and SIL come they will not have clean linens on the bed. If you got a Studio, since you're at OKW, then they could simply use the 'other' bed that wasn't used by DD.

They will get Trash and Towel the day they arrive (since that would be day 4 of the original 5-day reservation).

I think I would add all 4 names to the ressie now (just call MS) and pay for a full clean on the day your second lot of guests arrive. If you split the ressie you will have to wait until later in the day for the room to be available as Caskbill said. It would be nice to be all ready for them.

Just don't offer charging privileges to the room card. Our guests were never bothered by this and they just used regular credit cards or cash. You can select which keys get charging anyway so you could put it just on DD and DSIL cards and not the other two (or vice versa) The cards have individual guest names on now so it would be easy to keep them apart.

This sounds like a good plan to me since the charging issue won't be a problem. I had thought of the room cleaning thing but didn't know the schedule. I will have the room cleaned before they come. Does anyone know the fee?

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. It's all a little confusing to me right now and I really appreciate the help! :scratchin

What size room is it?

I think full clean is $25 for a studio, $30 for a 1 bed, $40 for a 2 bed.

Trash and towel is $10. (no bed change though)

We always buy an extra towel package for $6 too.

I got this info from my member Handbook which is dated 2002-2003 so could be a bit more now.

Have a fun trip!
