ok folks. so here is my rant for today. sometimes it sucks to be canadian. not often. i mean, our healthcare rocks! our dollar is soaring. and our environment is well, nice. (i live in bc)

but it sucks when you want a good deal.

a good online deal.

i want crocs for all the members of my family. i have a pair in pink and love them. LOVE them. Bought them in West Edmonton Mall for 50% off. Bright pink. I am also a believer that they are the ugliest shoe I have ever owned...but who cares, comfort calls sometimes. So knowing that they are ugly, I want them on sale. My kids have some...knock offs. And they love those so I thought I would buy them some real ones for our trip. Going to Disneyland in December!

So I log onto the disboards every day. its like my religion. I am pretty faithful. And everyday I see these great..no, fantastic deals...but alas, not available to canadians! and if they were available...shipping is atrocious!

so heres my rant....i want crocs, disney ones would be fab. They don't sell them here. And if they do, they are the not nearly the same price as online. I want access to childrens place online. I love the store, don't get me wrong, but I love to online shop. Who doesn't with 3 kids under 4 and a full time working husband....

I also love SR. Buy what i can thru them, but alas, being canadian effects my shipping rates not to mention duty and taxes (I am a customs inspector when not having babies, so I can't complain too much about duty!)

ok, i feel better.

i used to have a friend who lived in the usa who i shipped stuff to and then she shipped it to me. but then she had babies and didn't have the time.

sucks.

oh well, can't complain too much. i do have a loving family...who lets me look for online deals!

Can you pay your friend a "finder's fee"??? Or does she have a friend who could use a little spare money at holiday time?

True, it would cost a bit more than you really want to pay. But you would still be getting the shoes you want for less than they would cost you at home.

PS: I haven't been to Canada in ages. But the trip we took to Newfoundland as kids will be impressed on my mind forever. It was stunningly beautiful!!

Trying to buy goods on line can be challenging if in certain cases impossible. Lego for example. All your shopping is done inUS funds at check out converts to Canadian dollars, which winds up being more than the US. What's up with that?

Shipping across borders can also present some of its own problems. Certain shipping companies charge a brokerages fee which is in some cases more that the time being shipped.

See if a fellow US disboarder will allow you to ship to them. They can then ship it you as a "gift" USPS ground rate are quite affordable

Love the dollars meteoric rise.

If you think trying to get things shipped to Canada is difficult, try online shipping for Barbados!

I'm usually faced with no shipping to this part of the world or the really irritating one -"we do not accept international credit cards" Hello... the cards issued here are the usual Visa, Mastercard etc!

Most of my online shopping is done through Amazon. Some items I have shipped directly here. More often than not, I time my shopping to coincide with friends' or relatives' travel to the US. Not only does that cut down on shipping, but it reduces the likelihood of paying high import duties when the items get here!

By the way, don't knock Canada. I lived in Montreal as a child, and then in Toronto for two years of grad school and suddenly I find myself missing T.O. a lot recently. DH thinks it's my version of a midlife crisis but that's a different story :)

They sell the Mickey Crocs at Disneyland. They aren't necessarily cheap, but you could pick them up there as a souvenir for the family.

Sorry about the Crocs....I'm sure there will be more codes out. Maybe you can order them a week before your Disneyland trip and have them shipped to your resort. If you are staying at a Disney resort they will hold stuff for you (or at least they do at Disney World). Then you will have them for your trip and can surprise your family. I think the free shipping code is good through December and maybe there will be another discount code for you.

I would help you out, but I am on the wrong side of the country. While you're in the US, make friends with someone who lives on the Washington border :)

Good luck!

Not only does Disneyland sell Disney Crocs, but they also sell Pirate of the Caribbean Crocs. The Pirate Crocs are currently 40% at Disneyland. You can usually find them at the World of Disney or the New Orleans stores. If you have a Premium AP you get another 10% off. I don't know if they will still be on sale when you get here next month, but if they are the price is right even if they are not as cute as the Disney Crocs!

And often it sucks to be American and have a military address which most places will not ship to. That really makes you feel isolated.
