and it doesn't matter if I have a broken bone, my family still think I can do everything without help.
I went out this morning and I jump started my van , checked on the septic pump and what could be wrong with it so I could get rid of the massive amount of rain that's built up in the backyard.
Then I come in and three other people ask me, am I going to make lunch today? THAT set me off.! I told dh, he's been home for 4 days now because he is too tired from working , hello? like I don't get tired. I made my own lunch and I told him to make his and the kids.
I guess nobody thinks that having a broken finger makes things more difficult for me, I can still do things as usual !

Good for you! Of course, they may change for a few hours, but it might not last :)

Now, fix you something scrumpious for lunch, kick back with a good book or curl up for a good nap. You could always make a list and exlain these are things that need to be done today and they can decided who will do what.

Olga, I'm afraid that is one of the "joys" of being a Mom. Everyone (husbands included) think we have to take care of them. :)

I think you did the right thing (I do the same) and you should take Carol's advice and relax yourself!
Hugs,
CC

Just wondering...have you said anything to your family about how everything is a big hassle with the broken finger and you could use some help? I know it seems insensitive of them not to cut you some slack, but if you're supermom and going on as normal maybe they aren't cognizant that you're overwhelmed. I'm sorry you're not having a good day.:(

Micca, I have been telling everyone they must help, but my dh is an excellent provider and loves us to pieces don't get me wrong, but he will get away with the least amount of work if possible and will only help if asked. Funny thing is he tells me this morning that he can't push the septic tank lid because he has a bad arm, I have two bad arms because of my osteo and a broken finger! I guess that didn't count.

That's when I pack a bag and go to my parents house down the shore for a few days! They will appreciate you when you come home! BTW, I'm leaving tomorrow morning and coming home Thursday night! :D

{{HUGS}} Olga. Good for you, let your husband help some, it won't kill him.

I wish I could do that, but I have no family here! That's how I went to DISCON last year!

*Usually*

DH is sick = DH rests and DW does everything
DW is sick = DH rests and DW does everything

:D :D

That's how it was at my house too. It gets frustrating I know.

I like Minnie824's response. How true! Sending a hug, and you did the right thing. Hope you followed through and did get some rest. :D

Sorry for your troubles...:(

In my house I TELL them what to do. Takes out the guesswork. Moms happy, everyones happy.
I gave up asking because it just didn't work. I mean after 12 years I realized I needed to be more direct. I mean lets face it, I am not Snow White who can 'whistle while I work'.
Of course I do tell them very nice and polite-like...;) , I sometimes even dole out hugs and kisses while I tell them what to do. It can be very effective.

Well, it went fine last night , but today the septic pump still has to get fixed ( something really simple ) but dh cannot do it because his arm hurts . He may have tennis elbow, we don't know , but guess what? I have other things all year round and nobody bothers, maybe because I don't whine? I told dh, it either gets fixed tonight when he gets back from work or I am calling a plumber to do it and pay $100.
The killer is , he ony has to attach the float to the pump, if he doesn't fix this thing, the pump will even burn out from running all the time, or if it's off, will clogg up the septic and back into the house. It's a 10 minute job for heaven's sake!
Oh yeah, let's not forget, now he wants to trade in my van because it has 100.000 miles on it and because it didn't start yesterday, that means it's too old and we need to trade. It started fine today and it could be that it was too wet from so much rain, or maybe it's something really small....no , we have to get a new one!
I need to hit the powerball this week!
