Sometimes Disney surprises me. I really wasn't expecting this -
I had a reservation at Boardwalk Inn for this past Saturday night. My husband and I were planning on driving over from Venice (about 2 hours out of Disney) just for the evening. We planned to hear American Vybe perform and then eat at The Beach Club buffet. We were coming home first thing Sunday morning. We never made it - everything that could go wrong that weekend, did.
It started with a nail in my tire picked up from the hurricane debris, (I teach on the outskirts of the damaged areas) then a WalMart that didn't put the tire back on properly, and before we knew it we were stuck on I-75 with a car that was barely driving. I made it to a nearby car dealership and they stayed past their closing time to fix my car. By the time they were done the earliest we could have gotten to Disney was 5:00 PM. Since we were planning on coming right home Sunday morning, we just decided to go home. We knew we would lose our deposit, but we were so tired and frustrated we had little choice. I called the Boardwalk when I got home to tell them I wasn't going to get there, and I had no problem when I was reminded that I would lose my deposit. I know the rules.
When I checked my charge card online today, I was so pleased and surprised to find that my deposit had been refunded. I know Disney didn't have to do that, and I appreciate that it was done. It made a frustrating and expensive weekend, much more bearable. I wrote Disney a thank you note, I doubt the person who fixed this will ever get that note - I have no idea who to thank. But maybe someone will see it and understand that sometimes doing something kind for a customer is the best possible thing to do.
Thank you Disney!
