Hi,

I received notification that someone I attended school with (many years ago) is very sick. A Facebook group was started, contacting classmates. In the message, they mentioned that "Disney" is her favorite thing.

I'm too late to send for Christmas (didn't see the message), but better late than never.

I live near Disney World, but they have a lot of gift shops and I have no idea what someone who has Disney as their favorite thing might want.

No clothing sizes were mentioned, so it has to be an item. I know this girl was extremely sweet in school and a joy to be around, but I've no idea what her likes, hobbies, etc might be.

I need a general gift idea or two. Help! :)

I ask all fans: What would you want?

Not "What would you want if you were sick?" What would you want? I'm not going for "Here's a gift for a sick person." I'm going for "Here's a gift for a fan."

I live close, so it seems like a good opportunity to help someone out, maybe brighten a day...but I'd also like it to be something that has some hope of not just being appreciated, but enjoyed.

What would you want?

Thank you.

Well, I love to cozy up with my disney blankets, so I'm 'wrapped in Disney'! I have a bunch of fleece blankets that I love, and I have a bunch of woven throws - many are Christmas ones, but have several Mickey ones. There's one they are selling currently that is from Adventureland, a bit expensive at about $75, but it's really nice. Just gave it to my 25 yr old adult daughter and she loves it and says it's really soft! That's something your friend could enjoy even daily, and will keep her warm and cozy, as well. Prayers for your friend!

I like the idea of the blanket. I also think a stuffed character might be nice. Even though she's not a child, there is some comfort in a stuffed animal - it might make her smile. Lovely that you're doing this for her.

You could find one or two really cool pins with general Disney themes like the Fab 5 or the castle and include those with the gift. I know pins make me happy.

Ask what her Favorite character is on the Facebook group and get her a Vinylmation or Pin of that character. Not everyone is a Fab 5 fan.

I like my cup that I have coffee in every morning, so much so that last trip I bought another. It makes me smile several times a day. Mind you, it would help if you knew what her favourite character was. Otherwise, a cup with the castle and fireworks would be nice.

I find there's nothing nicer than a cup of warm tea, so I bought myself the Alice in Wonderland tea pot set. It's sized for one person and has the cup, saucer and teapot, all nestled together.

Mugs are always useful and cute. I like the big ones.

The blanket idea is really cute too.

I love wearing my Alex and Ani bracelets. I find they're comfortable to wear and I like looking at them as they remind me of Disney:-) Disney throw and mugs are also great ideas. Another thought is the CD of Disney music. My DD got me 'Wishes' CD for Christmas and I'm enjoying listening to the music and thinking of the fireworks at MK.

If you can go to an actual park, perhaps embroidered ears? Or any of the really pretty ears they have now?

I also love the idea of anything cosy, like a blanket or throw pillow.

I would stay away from any specific character since you don't know for sure who/what she likes. For example, I am not an Alice fan. Instead, I would get something that celebrates all of Disney or Magic Kingdom.

For me the best thing would have something inspirational written on it...like Dreams Come True, or Believe in Magic, or A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes.

There are some very cool things on the Shop Disney app.

If you have to ship, you need to take that into consideration as well. Blanket is great idea but bulky to ship. Disney charges by price of item to ship, not by weight which costs more than bringing to post office yourself. Coffe mug is good idea if packed well. Maybe a CD of music from park music, do they still make them?

Hmmmm.............................An Annual Pass....

LoL on a serious note Blanket is pretty good.

I would just meander through the Disney Store down in DS, & see if something pops out at you...

How about the Dooney & Burke Haunted Mansion bag stuffed with Pandora charms and Disney-patterned Crocs?

Gosh, great ideas!!! Love the blanket, mug, and music ideas, especially for someone who may be tired or feeling bad. Maybe a cool water bottle, too. It's nice of you to think of an old friend; I think you'll really make her smile! :flower1:

Oh, I think a CD of park music is a great idea! I just bought one for myself and for my sister when I was down there. Sure Pandora and iTunes are great, but I also like being able to pop in an actual CD and listen to the tracks in order.

Have you seen the line of "You Are Here" coffee mugs that Starbucks sells? I have one from San Francisco and one from New Orleans. They are really nice, and have a different shape than most coffee mugs, making them useful as a soup mug, too. Well, the Starbucks at WDW are selling the "You Are Here" mugs, and each is themed to a different park. My sister brought home a set- they are beautiful, adorable, wonderful! She said she bought the park-specific mug in each of the 4 theme parks. I am having her bring home a set for me when she returns to WDW in February. I think these'd make a TERRIFIC gift for a WDW fan!

Here's a link so you can see the mugs. Apparently they have them for DL and DCA, too!
