Something you need to know about transfering Disney Reward Dollars!

Did you all know that you can only transfer reward dollars to your rewards card AFTER your closing date? I wasn't going to pay my room balance until check in, and was hoping to get more reward dollars for purchases/meals while there, and then transfer them to use while we were there. Of course they'll still accrue, but they don't post and therefore can't transfer until after your closing date. So, my closing date is Oct. 27, and our check in date is Nov. 13, so anything we earn on our trip won't be able to be transferred and "spent' until after Nov. 27. It made me rethink my strategy, and I'll pay off my room balance before that date to at least get that additional $11 on my Oct. statement, and then be able to transfer it to my rewards card.

If anyone knows/was told something different, please respond!

I guess that's the way I always thought it worked.......it prevents people from buying a large ticket item (like a $10,000 baby grand piano) transfering the reward dollars and spending them, and then taking the piano back 5 days later.
It's kind of like the ammendment they sent out this summer to our cardholders' agreement that stated certain transactions were no longer valid towards reward dollars........there were several listed, but the one that sticks with me was casino chips (this was right before my wife and I went the Vegas that's why I remember LOL)........anywho......you can see why, some guy walks into a casino and charges $5,000 in chips to his Disney VISA goes and plays nickel slots for an hour...deposits the $5,000 back his bank account and "pays off" his VISA and BINGO......$50 reward buck....you don't have to pull that trick very often to really rack up the reward dollars.

By "closing date" do you mean the day that your monthly payment is due?

I naturally assumed that was how it worked because when you look at the statement online you don't get your reward dollars posted to your account until after the closing, so how could you use them if they aren't even in your account?

But, I was wondering, if you return something, do you get reward dollars taken back?

If you return something, yes. Therefore, charge enough the next month to equal or exceed what you returned so as not to lose your rewards dollars.

The closing date is the date the statement is sent out to you, so you can use your reward dollars before you pay for them!

I paid off my room at DW ahead of time so I could use the reward dollars while there too.

If your closing date is while your away you can call the # & have your rewards transferred instantly.Also don't close out your account before you've spent all your rewards. Once closed, I believe you lose all remaining rewards.

Called last week and paid off my room for November so I can get the reward dollars! Also paid off car insurance, etc., ahead of time too!!

What if you pay off you balance before your closing date? If your balance is zero at your closing date do you get zero reward dollars even if you spent $2000 that month?
Just asking because I pay off my CC every 2 weeks and I hope I am not losing any rewards.

You do not lose any rewards. Your rewards are based on amount spent net of credits for returns. Payments are not included in the calculation. However, they will take away your rewards if you never pay the bill

I also was wondering about this.
I still need to buy my passes, and have been trying to hold off as long as possible, but i wanted to get the rewards dollars for that purchase .... we have an early november trip.

if you ask the customer service person at the 800# for bankone on the back of your card, they will tell you when you need to make purchases by, and when the reward dollars will be available for transfer.

How does getting the Rewards instantly work? When I cashed in my Rewards recently they sent me a card which took 10 days to arrive in the mail.

once you have the rewards card, you can transfer your dollars to it instantly...(you need to transfer a minimum of $10).
you can do it online or over the phone...
It's the initial ordering of the card that takes some time... but after that it's a snap.

Don't forget that if you haven't ordered your rewards card and you're taking a trip to WDW that you can get a card down there...I got mine at DTD Guest Services and they helped me call and have my points transferred immediately. It worked out perfectly because it was so quick!
