Someone just sent me this email...very apropriate in my life right now........

A little boy wanted to meet God. He knew it was a long trip to where God lived, so he packed his suitcase with Twinkies and a six-pack of root beer and he started his journey. When he had gone about three blocks, he met an old man. He was sitting in the park just staring at some pigeons. The boy sat down next to him and opened his suitcase.
He was about to take a drink from his root beer when he noticed that the old man looked hungry, so he offered him a Twinkie. He gratefully accepted it and smiled at him. His smile was so pleasant that the boy wanted to see it again, so he offered him a root beer. Again, he smiled at him. The boy was delighted! They sat there all afternoon eating and smiling, but they never said a word. As it grew dark, the boy realized how tired he was and he got up to leave, but before he had gone more than a few steps, he turned around, ran back to the old man, and gave him a hug. He gave him his biggest smile ever.

When the boy opened the door to his own house a short time later, his mother was surprised by the look of joy on his face. She asked him, "What did you do today that made you so happy?

"He replied, "I had lunch with God." But before his mother could respond, he added "You know what? He's got the most beautiful smile I've ever seen!"

Meanwhile, the old man also radiant with joy, returned to his home. His son was stunned by the look of peace on his face and he asked,

"Dad, what did you do today that made you so happy?"

He replied, "I ate Twinkies in the park with God." However, before his son responded, he added, "You know, he's much younger than I expected."

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.

People come into our lives for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. Embrace all equally!

People who have touched your life in a special way, let them know how important they are.

I hope those important to me know.....
and that I somehow have touched their life as well back.....

Oh! That's such a sweet story! Thanks for sharing; I hadn't heard that one yet. :)

Too often do we just ignore those around us, not knowing how we could touch each other by simply smiling or saying "hi."

Thank you glo - that's a beautiful story we should all remember.

I have read that one before and each time is when I need to read it. It is amazing when we open our eyes/ears who may be touching us in a very special way.

It is sooooooooo important to remember ( and I slip quite often ), that first impressions are the foundation to what someone thinks of us. We can't be happy and cheerful all the time, but I've learned that there always seems to be somebody "watching"!!

Being on the internet, I have also learned that it's VERY hard to get a point accross, or it's very easy for someone to take you as being mean, rude, ignoring them, etc..... Just accknowleding someone ( or not ), can make or break the deal!!!!

Very sweet and thought provoking story. Timely reminder for us all, glo. Thanks for posting this.

it reminded me of an incident i had at disney while waiting for my dh and ds to get off a ride...a lady sat next to me as her family was also on the ride...she began talking to me about anything and everything...it was like we had know eachother for years...she mentioned that she had wanted to be apart of the adopt a troop program but all the troops were adopted and that she had just wanted to send over some care packages...i told her that that my husband was in the military and had just got back from a tour over "there" (he was gone 3months)..anyways..we jumped from subject to subject ....after about what seems an hour my dh and ds come walking up...the lady jumps up and gives my husband a hug and shakes his hand while telling him how much she appreciates his efforts and that she thinks the military is doing a great job...etc....you should of seen the look on my husbands face...I know he felt much appreciated and I never felt so proud of him...just to know that there are people out there that truly are grateful and to experience it hands on..it's different to see it on tv..or in letters..to actually hear someone say that to you...to see in their eyes how sincere they are...is something else. The only thing I regret that day... I never asked what her name was and I never told her mine... :( but I'll never forget her or her stories..she left an imprint on my heart

Glo - You forgot to add "tissue alert" to the title of your thread.

What a wonderful story. I'm going to pass this one along to friends and family.
