Lets say that you have an uncle. he's a dirty, vile old man. he's abusive and a drunk. He never had any children. He beat his wife till she committed suicide (though no charges were ever brought against him.) An old man now, in his late seventies, he is also filthy rich. He hates his brother (your father) and has decided to leave his entire fortune (200 something odd million) to you.
you are recently married, and your wife is pregnant. You're both out of work, due to a mass lay off at a plant thats going out of business. (If you're a chick, you're pregnant and you and your husband are out of work) You have no idea how you plan to raise this child, with little savings and no income. you've tried to find a job, but they're hard to come by in your town.
so you concoct a plan. you hide in wait in your uncles bathroom. you plan to knock him over the head as he is getting in the bath. the opportune moment arrives, but you chicken out. As you're sneaking back into your shadows, your uncle hears a noise. startled, he turns, but slips and falls and cracks his head on the side of the tub. He dies there. you instantly become a multi millionaire.
so now comes the question. are you guilty? could it possibly have been you he heard? did this man deserve to die? so are you still committing a crime, even if you don't go through with it, but just plan it out?
thoughts?
