Something strange is afoot at the DIS

I have noticed some things while reading posts...

If someone types the work Love or Loves...It seems to underline it, and make it a link to a romance site...or is this just me? Anyone else see this...

I also saw it for insurance....Maybe I am losing my mind..

Sounds like spy stuff. Do you have ad-aware? It seems that worked for someone awhile back.

I have also noticed this. Not with Love but with other words. They always seem to link me to some strange website.

You definitely have spyware! If you don't have it already, download "Ad-aware" (it's free, and there are a lot of knockoffs out there-- but, it's pretty effective, so it's highly recommended)

Go to www.lavasoftusa.com, and there should be a link for ad-aware on the left side of the screen-- you should only need the free version, not the ones you have to pay for!

Well I have adaware, and also Spybot and ALSO Spyware blaster...all are coming up negative..hmm

I thought when someone else had problems with this it had to do with AOL. Are you using AOL?

This happened to me a few weeks ago, somehow a spyware tracking device got downloaded onto our computer, it was called "Ezula." I found it and deleted it. It got rid of all those underlined words. What a PITA that was!

Ad-Aware scanning did not remove the Ezula. I had to go in and manually delete it.

Well I fixed the problem by re-installing my entire PC...it was my work PC so it was easy

I'm glad you got the problem fixed, but having to reinstall your pc must've been frustrating.

I've had a huge problem with spyware today and I can't figure out where it's coming from.

Ezula just started installing itself about 15 minutes ago while I was reading the Debate Board here. The only other window I had open was yahoomail, which was minimized.

Now I've got a stupid Search Bar installed on my machine. Surely this isn't coming from Dis in any way???


About to run Ad Aware for the second time today.

In the past week I've had all of these things happening! The underlined words, the search bar, pop-ups and REALLY slow connections. I thought it came from the kids using AIM but maybe it's connected to the DIS????

I downloaded spy clean up but it didn't seem to work. I did a McAfee disc scan and cleared my cache and history. The underlined words have stopped but it's still slow and I'm still getting popups.

Another charming little thing is that you cannot remove the files by doing Add/Remove on my computer. Despite several attempts it's still there and I don't know how to remove it.
