Is there anything special that I can organise for DH's 40th bday which we are celebrating at DLP. We are staying at the DL Hotel for 3 nights..

I might order him a cake (although with me on a diet, and only DH and DS6 it might be a large cake for just the two of them!)

Is there a gift in room service like there is at wdw?

Or does anyone have any other ideas?

thanks!

Its so weird going to Disney and knowing nothing about it! I am so used to going to WDW which we know so well!

maybe that would be fun. Thanks.

The trouble is we are sOOOO spoilt having taken about 16 trips to WDW over the last 9 years - but never for his bday..

Anyway.. thanks!

I did read somewhere that you could arrange for a special gift in your room, ie. champagne, chocolates, basket of fresh fruit. On our last visit I phoned the Newport Bay (where we staying) to see if there was a children's version, for my son who was also celebrating a birthday. There wasn't but they offered to put some balloons in the room for us. When we arrived there were about 15-20 ballooons arranged around the beds, an autograph book and a card signed by Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy and Pluto, this was all free of charge. I'm sure if you rang the DLH they'd arrange something for DH. :goodvibes

There is a Birthday cake you can order it's a very rich chocolatey, fudgey affair, it's available at certain restaurants, Inventions, Blue Lagoon, Cafe Mickey, etc. The CM's will bring it out to you with characters if you're having a character meal and everyone will sing Happy Birthday, or you could always try the Birthday party at Plaza gardens, it's more aimed at little ones I think, but could be fun.
I celebrated my 40th at the Blue Lagoon, it's a very beautiful setting, quite romantic but your DS will love waving to the boats as they pass and most riders will wave back, request a table on the beach for the best experience. :)

Have a look at this site here for info on restaurants/menus. I also recommend the Blue Lagoon ~ it is so romantic  or Walt's ~ time it to coincide with a parade and ask for a window seat, or if he would like a character meal there is a character dinner buffet with exquisite food (no characters at lunch) at Inventions in the Disneyland Hotel.

I hope I am not speaking out of turn here but seeing as you have been to WDW so many times I think the most important piece of advice anyone could give you is not to go expecting everything to be the same as WDW. DLRP is different ~ some of the rides are better :thumbsup2 and the architecture of the park is outstanding, there is even a dragon under the castle! :cloud9: My family all love it, we find it has all the Disney magic :wizard: with an European flavour.

thanks for the advice! Id like to organise something in the room ideally for him.

I think that Elaine you are right.. you know, we are just going with an open mind.

We have actually been once before (before we ever went to WDW) just for the day so I have an idea of what to expect.. but that was in 95, so things have probably really changed since then!

I know that its not the same. We are just going to see how it goes - and at least we get to spend three nights at DLHotel!

Hi Sammie

we are staying in the DLH for my DD 18th birthday,I have managed to sort out some surprises to be in the room when we arrive. princess:

You have to tell them how much you want to spend and the sort of thing you want.
The e-mail address I used is

DLP.SUITES.CRO@disney.com

we are staying castle club, which is why I used the suites e-mail,but contact them using this address and they will pass it on to the correct dept

Hope this helps, have a wonderful holiday

Bev
