We usually do Wolfgang Puck Express and would like to try somewhere new at Disney Springs for our upcoming trip. I am leaning towards Homecoming (actually have a late lunch/early dinner ADR booked) because of the positive reviews though we believed the hype about Raglan Road and it was one of worst meals (bland, tasteless under cooked food) we've ever had at WDW. So I am debating whether to keep the Homecoming ADR (I am actually more interested in the apps maybe sharing a bunch than the mains). It will be myself, DH and our youngest dd (5) and we are adventurous eaters and are not on the DDP. We have already been to Raglan Road (bleh) as I mentioned before, Bongo's (just OK), both the WP Expresses (yum) and the Cafe (which we also really enjoyed but it's closing), so would like to try a new place. Should we stick with our Homecoming ADR or somewhere else?

Stick with Homecomin. We've eaten there several times (we are local) and enjoyed it each time.

Boathouse. Excellent food, service, and ambiance. We ate at Homecoming two weeks ago and, no offense to OKW Lover, but it was just average fare to us. I don't care for sweetness in my fried chicken, wife didn't enjoy the mostly wilted lettuce in her salad, didn't like the bacon in the mashed potatoes (made them heavier tasting), found the deviled eggs lacking zest, and the shared fries weren't any better than an order of Wendy's. Nothing awful there, but nothing outstanding, either. Then again, food reviews are very subjective and dependent on individual's tastes. The whiskey with sweet and sour and basil was quite tasty, though.

No offense taken! Its always good to hear other people's experiences. Perhaps the best reason of all for people to give a new place a try.

Your idea of sharing apps at Homecomin' is what I wish we would have done. I had the shrimp and grits, which was okay, but I wouldn't order it again. My son's fried chicken was very tender, but we didn't care for the breading. Again, okay, but we wouldn't order it again. Ditto for the entree salads. My youngest got fish "sticks" off the kids menu, and those actually were pretty fantastic.
The waiter had highly recommended the fried green tomatoes, the chicken biscuits, and the deviled eggs. We got an order of deviled eggs (they were delicious!) and just the cheese biscuits (also delicious.) We didn't order the others, because that would have been too much food, but if we had JUST ordered appetizers, it would have been great.
The bar is set with rows of jars full of colorful fresh fruits and herbs for the cocktails, and looked really beautiful. I ordered a watermelon moonshine drink and it was so good.
Apps and cocktails... that's what I'd do next time. And then maybe I wouldn't be too full for dessert!

We mostly loved the apps we had. I am debating doing the same thing next month. I'm not big on anyone's fried chicken, but I love their Jasper board and the fried green tomatoes look awesome. We did have the deviled eggs and just thought they were good but not great. A little bland, but I like whole grain or dijon mustard on mine. The hush puppies are good. I also want to have room for dessert. DH and DS wouldn't like the hummingbird cake, so I may be stuck eating it all by myself:)

We loved our experience at Homecoming. My hubby and I just shared an app (chicken thigh biscuits which were amazing) and 2 sides (mac and cheese and collards) and were beyond happy with it. Love the idea of just getting several apps vice having an entree.

As a general rule, my wife and I no longer get two appetizers, two entrees, and dessert. This decision is partially due to the expected but still above market average cost for eating while at Disney. It's also partially due to the fact we purposefully have become lighter eaters the past several years. We often eat only appetizers as a meal, a prime example being Sanaa where we get the bread service and perhaps a soup or salad. Not only does eating lighter save money, but it allows us to splurge and enjoy things a bit more, say, a dessert or a couple of glasses of wine.

Another vote for Homecoming...best fried chicken!! And that Mac and cheese... :lovestruc

Don't feel bad, Homecoming did not live up to the "hype" for us either. We also prefer Boathouse but it is a different experience. But we also enjoy Paradiso as well.

I have photos of all of those and reviews on a few, CLICK HERE and scroll down to DISNEY SPRINGS -THE LANDING/TOWN CENTER & select the restaurants in bold that you would like to see.

Am I the only one who opened this thread hoping that something new and fabulous opened in Disney Springs?? :confused3:rotfl2:

If you're looking for a quick service option - D'Luxe burger was good, reasonably priced, refillable sodas, and easily shareable - and now has online ordering to eliminate what can sometimes be a long line.

We've had both good and average experiences at Paradiso 37. Two trips ago, we had a good lunch there. Last trip, it was just okay, and the music was so loud we could barely carry on a conversation seated right next to each other. Agree that Boathouse is better than Homecoming.

We liked Homecomin but suffered fried food digestive issues (heartburn, etc.) to the point my sons don't want to go again. It was definitely something I wanted to try once but wouldn't go out of my way to have again. We may end up there again next trip as we are with others who haven't been and may want to try it. I would just order differently...(no fried green tomatoes in addition to lots of other fried foods).

Morimoto Asia is not only my favorite restaurant at Disney Springs, but probably my favorite restaurant on all of Disney property. It's the only Disney restaurant I'd eat it regularly if it were in my hometown.

Morimoto's Street food for lunch and Boathouse for dinner. We are trying Morimoto's and Frontera Cocina in January and hope to make one of them our favorite. Boathouse is very good, but not great.

We're doing Homecoming in Nov. I LOVE catfish and rarely get it. DH loves fried chicken. Most reviews are really good, so we have an ADR for our first night. I grew up eating both (Texan by birth) and look forward to it. We don't do apps and dessert, ever so we won't be overfull. We like Wolfgang Puck express and that's where we usually go, but thought we'd try something new.
