Something I have always wondered..

Serious question regarding this .. What happens if say a mom , dad and a kid get chosen to stay at the castle, but they refuse because lets say they are a part of a larger family group that are there on vacation and don't wanna be split up?
Does WDW offer them something else to compensate?
Or is it just "Ohhh..you dont want to stay in our Castle huh? well here's a hardy handshake and a 10 dollar mickey mouse keychain for each of you." lol

I bet they get the keychain (if they're lucky!)

but...I would ditch my Grand Gathering for the day to stay in that castle...they would get over it! Eventually

If anyone passes up a major prize, including the castle, the computer picks another time/place/person to give it to. There is no compensation. There are plenty of people who turn it down for different reasons if you can believe it! Ask any Dream Squad member when you are there and they will tell you a story of someone turning it down.

When we won, we were part of a Grand Gathering. The DT was really nice about letting us try to get as many of our group to be able to stay in the castle as possible (we ended up with 3 adults and 5 kids in there...the kids were little LOL) and the rest of the group did get to visit us and come inside the Castle Suite up until park closing and then they had to leave.

I would never give up a night in the castle just because I was with a larger group. It is too amazing of an experience!

Nope. No compensation -- not even a single keychain. You may accept the night in the Castle prize or turn it down.

I can't imagine giving up the castle stay unless you win it the day you are leaving and you really do need to leave then (can't reschedule flight/have to get back to work, etc.).

That would be a shame to have to give something that amazing up, but I guess it does happen. Would be my luck Just kidding!
