I know from my research that the time between Thansksgiving and Christmas is supposed to be low season. 7 months in advance to the day I booked for our trip next week. I was told that EVERYTHING was completely sold out except Saratoga. Got on wait list and made no difference.

In years past, never had a problem getting rooms at Boardwalk.

Anyone know if Disney eliminating non home resort inventory and forcing everyone to Saratoga b/c they want it to be the primary DVC resort?

Sounds fishy to me.

Thanks. :confused3

No, it's just that there are more people in the system now.

sadly, with all the extra smart people buying into DVC that 11 month window is going to be so important from here on out. That's why I still insist that people buy where they want to (almost always) stay.

You would probably get more replies to this on the DVC board, however from reading other threads, that time is one of the most popular times for DVC and many others have mentioned not being able to get anything except waitlist after the 11 month mark.

It's low season, point-wise, but has turned into high season for DVC owners :sunny:

The weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas while low season for WDW are some of the hardest rooms to get at DVC. It has become an extremely popular time of the year for people to use their points. The point requirements are the lowest and the Christmas decorations are up. I am actually suprised that there are still rooms available to SSR. I've had my OKW reservation for 11 months.

I don't think anything is fishy, but there are many more members this year than last. Not as many as there will be next year though. We booked a relatively last minute trip last week for January and couldn't get into OKW, which is almost always available. So there is definitely more demand for rooms this winter for whatever reason.

If your speaking of DVC properties that time is prime time for DVCers since the point requirement is low and so are the park crowds.

DVC cannot hold rooms declared into member inventory, that would be illegal. The only rooms that come out of inventory is when a member trades out of DVC (for example, the cruise or a non-DVC Disney resort). This is a very popular time of year for DVC. It's the lowest point season, the Christmas activities are in full swing, the DVC annual meetings are this week. I always book my Boardwalk trip at 11 months.

There's nothing fishy going on.

At 7 months, you can reserve DVC inventory at a DVC resort that's not your home resort -- but only if the DVC members who own at that resort have not already reserved all available inventory.

DVC members have learned that the time between Thansksgiving and Christmas is a great time to visit WDW with DVC points. The points go far. The parks aren't crowded. The decorations are great. It's "Holidays Around the World" at Epcot. The weather can be great. And it's especially good for DVC members whose children are now at college, so that Mom and Dad can now go to WDW without worrying about school schedules.

DVC has never held back inventory for the benefit of those who reserve at 7 months.

could have something to do with that last promo at SSR for the extra points that had to be used in this use year - people are using them before they exprie. Lots of SSR 120 point contracts on the resale board with points stripped to 2007 - those are the promo ones with the bonus points.

Are you a DVC member, if so how long.
you say this above, do you mean you had no problem getting in at Boardwalk INN or the Villas. The BWvillas will book up real fast for this time with DVC'ers

Good point.

Those were SSR points? If so, it should not have affected availability at 7 months for other than SSR.

That first week of December has always been popular at Boardwalk Villas. I've gone the past 5 years and booked at exactly 11 months, day by day.

Yikes. Sounds like a check mark in the "Buy Where You Want To Stay" column.

Too bad. Although I did buy where I most want to stay, I do like moving around.

If I remember correctly the bonus points went to you primary contract so they would be usable at 11 months for other resorts.

I think 1000 Happy Haunt is correct.
It's low season, point-wise, but has turned into high season for DVC owners. I have read several posts that there is little to no DVC Villas available during that time. I had no problems booking at the 7 mth window for BWV at the end of May 2006 and BCV middle of June 2006.

Meliechick,

You lucky dog. I'm leaving for WDW on 12/2 and I'm staying at SSR, but I wanted to stay at BCV or BWV but couldn't get a reservation at the 7 month mark. I was put on a waiting list, but I wasn't successful. You were so lucky to get in. My home resort is OKW and this is my 1st year as a DVC Member, so I'm hoping to get a chance to stay at all the DVC resorts at one time or another, but I'm kind of stubborn as to the time of year because I like going the 1st of December. Well hopefully I'll get lucky one of these years.
