Something feels "off"

After scouring vrbo and homeaway for days, getting multiple quotes (when people would respond that is!), I decided on a rental home. The owner doesn't seem to respond in a timely manner nor do her responses come off friendly. Maybe she's not a lovey dovey person, ok, fine. I still paid the deposit and got an email from her 24 hours later saying she received it, but no rental contract. So I email her back asking if I would get one. 2 days later the response was she was traveling and I would get one by 5/22. I read all her reviews and she only has 10, all positive except 1, which doesn't bother me but the last review was 10/13. Her calendar does show our dates marked off, plus may, June, half of July and a week in August as rented.

Am I just being silly to feel uneasy? The rental is at EI. Is there a way to make sure the location isn't in foreclosure or for sale? I know you can check on properties in WH but wasn't sure about EI.

I've had this happen a few times and it was usually because they were traveling or on vacation. You can check the address on zillow.com to see if it's for sale or the clerk office to search their records http://www.osceolaclerk.com/

I think vrbo/homeaway still sell an inexpensive insurance to counter possible fraud/foreclosure. We bought it both times we rented just for peace of mind given the volatile real estate market & both our owners were overseas. I think it only ran about $40.

You must remember ,& take into account, that the owner of the villa may well live in Europe ...... as many many owners of other villas do,

You are American as you wrote 5/22 , which is Not what Europeans write .
We do it 22/5 ... 22nd of the 5th month .

Have faith in the fact that she replied to to stating that she did receive your

deposit . The owner may be in Full time employment And runs her Villa

as a Part time job. And we are 5 hours ahead of Florida in time .

Give her time & look forward to your stay in Emerald Isle which

is a very good , safe, place to stay.
