We bought area rugs today. How exciting is that?

 till NEXT Friday!!!!

:woohoo: Rugs are good....looks more 'homey', dontcha think?? Oh, and I see you already have your priorities there...internet :goodvibes  Guess we are NOT in trouble...she hasn't mentioned the mess yet.... :rolleyes1
So, who is there with ya? IIRC, you left Mr. Damo home to shovel :rolleyes1

I survived day 2. THOUSAND.

:scratchin ....a clue perhaps??? Terminator? What else refers to 2 thousand?

You can do it! (Think Waterboy)

Thanks! You know, I've never been able to diet and lose weight. I've never been a small person. . . I was one of those chubby kids. Here's the thing though. . .it never seemed to matter in my life. I've got a good sense of myself; I always had HOT boyfriends (and hubbies. . yeah, dh is my 2nd and my forever); I never "saw" myself as a fat person. I turned 40 in December and it honestly changed my life. I was feeling really down and upset for several months prior to the bday. . I even cancelled a big 40th bash because I just couldn't deal with it. Then, one day, I just decided that it was time to take control. I couldn't change the fact I was going to be 40, but I could, by the grace of God, see this as a POSITIVE turning point in my life. It's THE thing that works for me. I'm very committed the the changes I've made and I can honestly say that, as of right now, I've not made one single bad choice regarding my diet. But see, I'm not on a diet because that indicates a person will change their eating habits for a short period of time. I have no interest in that because it's never worked for me. I have changed my life and decided that I want to be healthy for however long I have on this earth. I've never before had willpower, per say, and I don't know what to call it now. . other than real da*n hard! Today, I made chocolate chip pancakes for my kids for supper, and I have pms, and I was hungry while cooking. . . I wanted to rip something to shreds, then something else, then smash something twice but I was by gosh NOT GOING TO EAT ONE OF THOSE PANCAKES!! Yyuuuummmmm. . . fried chocolate. . .it was really, really, really hard and I wanted it, but there was really never a moment when I truly considered even taking one single bite. Over the years I've seen so many stories about people who have lost a great amount of weight and I was so envious. They always talked about THE thing that motivated them and now, I truly understand. I never could find my thing that motivated me. I just went through this turning 40 thing for months and it was a process that evolved to where I'm at now. I can't really explain it very well, but I feel even more committed than I did 2 months ago. I've come this far. . .lost 21 pounds. . . miss my favorite foods every day. . but I still pack my yogurt and fruit every single day and I fight the addiction every single day.

So, wow, I just had some serious insight or something, but that was way too serious and I'm done with that now. . . I'll think of a funny and be back

2.gif
I think you explained that very well...you finally found what/the motivation you were looking for.... And, if it WERE EASY, more people would do it. Ryan's head instructor at karate always tells the kids: "Quitting is the easiest thing you'll ever do." By gosh, the man is right :thumbsup2

Oh...and what IS it with 'trial husbands' on this thread??? :confused3 Teeth, divorces, geez.... :confused3 (I'm ALMOST feeling left out...not quite yet...but soon.....)

You are soooooo lame. :sad2:

j/k

:worship: I try!!!

(somebody hasta);)

I still have another day of Orientation before I actually start training at my work location.

And your location would be....... (I assume you are working the public, so a ride or attraction...since you have previous experience there....)

So, do you want a new dog to go with that new house? Cuz I've got one that if her papa doesn't come get her soon is going to get boxed up and shipped to you :rolleyes1

Guess things aren't going well then??? :sad2:

Katie - too bad my DS13 isn't in your class. You would be done by now. His English teacher posted his grades - he got a NO CREDIT for his journal that was supposed to be turned in Friday. I asked him, "Why did you not turn it in?" The answer - the good old standby, "I forgot". I said did you see everyone else turn theirs in? He says "No, I had my head down writing.":confused3

You see why we go to Sylvan???? Tonight, was math homework - he is looking for a "special" calculator that will do fractions. WHAT????? My husband told him all calculators do fractions - just punch the numbers in. No evidently, our calculators could not do fractions the way they do them at school?????!!!!???

This was a lovely 30 minute argument.

When he didn't 'notice' everyone else turning it in, that's just lack of focus. We constantly tell Bubba he needs to be aware of what's going on around him.... Focus on task at hand...and I'm sure the teacher mentioned to everyone that it was time to turn it in. Is your son really smart? Is he bored? Or just not interested? Whatever it is....I wish you a world of luck! :wizard: Parenting....not an easy job..... :sad2:

I never said anything about Jaws. I only said I'm not at MIB.

you only mentioned the word seagulls.
that made me think of amityville at first.

Where do you get these ideas? :confused3 :confused3

It may or may not be a ride.
You may or may not get wet.
There may or may not be a track.
It may or may not be indoors.
There are no alien bugs.

Good luck. :darth:

all blondes get those ideas darkie......
if we all put our heads together, we'll find out where darkie is ......

i wonder if tricia's boys got syrup all over their pjs and that is why she said what she said......

and penny, why did you not tell us earlier about you getting your toe removed in may?

it is okay, you won't miss it.
toes are overrated as it is.

jk

and miss lori gets the hw pass for the days she will be out of town.....
marked in red in the book.
she's good to go.

to the sickies, janet, wendy, tammy...........brab is blowing mummy dust to you as i speak......

she is a real good blower.

DM - you may be right about the calculator. But we are talking about 7th grade math and his basic skills are not where they should be. So, he really needs to understand why and what he is doing.

::yes:: I agree....I could never grasp the math fractions/alegbra concepts :confused3 ....but I'm very good at English/spelling/grammar/etc.... ;) (apparently THAT side of my brain works better than the 'math' side :rolleyes1 )

Most scientific calculators have the fractions button now. It really speeds things up but I find that the kids (my son being one of them) totally forget how to do fractions once they use it too much. It also doesn't help them at all when they are doing rational expressions (that's fractions in algebra -- variables not numbers).

However, it is great for some kids who get really hung up on fractions and it impacts everything else.

As a math tutor, I see the good and bad parts of that button.

 Good to know.....woulda been helpful to ME all those years ago..... but, I see your point damo....pros & cons :teacher:

i thought that number was a piece of cake.
the one that bothered me the most was turning 20.
i love having bdays.
it means i am not dead.

not yet anyway....on yer way.... :duck:

hey brab..............how did you end up with a child that likes to get up early in the morning.....

:confused3 dunno....lucky (?) I guess???

Btw...how's your son feeling/doing?? Any better???

That sweetheart has chewed up two sets of shoelaces, 27 markers, 39 pencils, chewed on my couch, ate a rabbit turd and crapped on my floor!

Okay...normal to 'chew'...I get it....but eat poop? Send the little sweetheart to Tricia's....she could probably use him :rolleyes1 :lmao:

Good luck! :wizard:

Sad isn't it?:sad2:

Nite Katie!

Will do!

Concession stand is right behind home plate. :thumbsup2 got to see the whole game and stay warm.

Hey mac I'm gonna be out of town Friday - Monday. This is my note. Please excuse me from the thread for these days. Thanks so very much!

Love ya,

Lori

note accepted.

you have a good son. bubba sounds like a joy to raise.

i always said, all my sons would have been great as "only" children.

i have a friend that had her labor/delivery video taped at the time of giving birth.
when she gets ticked off at the kid, she watches the video in reverse and puts him back in.

she says it makes her feel so much better and it takes the anger away she has.....

i'm locking up the door now and turning off the light.
this is no motel 6 and we dont leave the lights on for you.

I'm the 4th Blue Man. DON'T TELL ANYONE!!!!!!

HEY EVERYONE!!! DM IS BLUE MAN DUDE!!! ssshhhhh...don't tell anyone.....

Like Raven said: You said "namebadge/tag" and "seagulls".... Only thing I can think of (off the top of my head) w/ seagulls is Amity/Jaws and Popeye.... We'll think of "seagulls" and 'thousand'.... :scratchin

Here's something about nothing. . .

This afternoon at work - I work in an annex building so we go out our door, down the stairs, 4 steps down a walkway/alley between my building and the "main" office and in the back door. So, I was taking mail over to the next building and it was blizzarding (yep, that's a word) and there was already a snow drift outside our door and in front of the back door of the main building.

So she comes to the back door with me, and I unlock it and step out to return to my building and she goes "do you guys have a broom over there. . . I will sweep this away", so I quip "no, only the one I rode to work today". . . ok, the look on her face was PRICE LESS!

When I return to my office my phone is ringing. . .yep, it's HER. . . she's :rotfl2: and is sooo proud of herself cuz she "got it". Uuummm, yeah, she needs to retire. . . I'm tired of doing her work and you cain't fix stupid!

:lmao: :rotfl: :lmao:

I tell ya, cell phone and texting is making us American unedumacated...

:worship: :sad2: That is where the PARENT needs to step in and start doing their job.... ;)

Albuquerque for a convention with my sister and NO KIDS!

 Fun trip...yay!!!! But, we'll miss you :sad1:

Well we have a very nice concession stand and a very nice ball field. All are courtesy of those wonderful fund raisers we have. And I was warm tonight while everyone else was freeing their rears off!

What...you got an oven or space heater in there??? What do you sell that is 'hot' to keep ya warm??
(PERFECT positioning on the stand too :woohoo: )

All I know is it is supposed to be a “safer” car. I don’t think so!

How much safer can it be if it's still going at least 200mph?? :confused3

loribell said:
Hot in the summer, lots of days around or over 100. Always windy, I swear I could put in a wind generator farm and power the US. Very unpredictable winters, it can be in the teens one day and in the 60’s/70’s the next.

Windpower electric....you should look into it....

loribell said:
Sorry. Did you not sense the sarcasm?

oh yeah...i saw it dripping off ya! :thumbsup2

And why does Jim's cousin have 2 sons with it and no one else in the family has even one???? It's one of those things that I guess we are not meant to understand? :confused3

:confused3 good question...altho, we may never know :sad2:

You just HAD to say that, didntcha??

:lmao: He IS a good kid....definately not a 'problem or challenge' to raise. He minds pretty well for his age, rarely fibs, and is courteous (I'm guessing he gets that from karate....) Oh...and WHY do you think I have only ONE??? :rolleyes1 (they say: "there's 1 in every family...well, I have my 1, and he's great.... I'm not giving birth to the 'other' one! :scared: )

I wouldn't recommend that you encourage a 7th grader to use the fractions button. Fractions are really important as they are the stepping stones to lots of algebraic skills. If he doesn't master them now, it will just make things harder for him later. I tutor so many kids who are really bad in fractions. It just takes lots and lots of practice. It will pay off a lot, later.

Thank you Damo. This is why we are taking him to Sylvan Learning. He had a really bad 6th grade math class last year. His class was really bad and it was the last class of the day. I think the teacher was overwhelmed by the discipline problems and as a result couldn't teach. We started him at Sylvan for math last summer and he had not mastered all 5th grade skills.

So math is going to be tough for another year (going to Sylvan all summer in '08). He is doing 7th grade at school and still learning 5th and 6th grade basic skills. He should be closer to his grade level by September '08.

We just didn't want him to fall too far behind.

Now that I'm all caught up - Good Morning Fletch!

:)

Everyone have a blessed day - Get over the hump today.

:cool1:

MORNIN' ALL!!!

On my way to work....have a good 'humpin' y'all'

Barb, I meant to ask you ... how long should you wait to shower after tanning?

And, hey, remember about 8 years ago I mentioned we were mattress shopping? We are making more headway this afternoon. We are still looking at Tempur Pedics. Think we're interested in the BellaSonna. Anyone have any experience with that? http://www.tempurpedic.com/sleep_systems/the_bellasonna_bed_by_tempur_pedic/overview/

I hear Martha Stewart has one....

I am going to try to take a nap so that I'm ready to go bed shopping when Mike comes home from work.

Smell ya later.

The same way the CPA ends up with a child that can't do math.

God's way of making the world go round.;)

what a comeback.
that is a hoot.

morning homies.

waiting for an electrician this morning. they never show up when they are supposed to, eh....

brab, you were up late last night. well, early this morning.
i had to laugh at some of your smilies.
very kewl

mother, what an impressive number you have hit.
you are going to be a winner more than one way.

jodie, i was looking forward to your screeching this morning.
it made my eyes pop open yesterday morning..

Wait.... isn't this the same son who was conspiring with her a few days ago? :rotfl: (My memory's not good enough to remember what they were up to.)

i conveniently put that fact under the covers:rolleyes1 ; my standards have lowered;)

i could eat a sandwich & soup for dinner almost any night too. Sorry to hear of your back surgery, hope it wasn't too much of an ordeal for you. I've been avoiding neck surgery for over 10 years (which i was told i needed immediately; now they say not if-but when...i am determined to prove them wrong:thumbsup2 ). Aside from the fact that i'm a lily-livered coward, the words cadaver donor creeped me out...kept thinking along the line of bad stephen king novel lol

the mario banana kicks butt!

mac - as for idol, i've liked Castro from the beginning (believe he's from Texas?); just not sure if the shy/hayseed bit is an act or not. My ears hurt after the purple haired dude fracturied Tainted Love:sad2:

damo - bet u r having a ball shopping for the house, did u check out the outlets in NC? Friends report great success, hire a truck; go down & come back with it full-way less than in PA. I get remnants bound into large room-size area rugs (over hardwood); cheaper & i get exactly what i want both type & size. Not quick so painful when my cats or dogs decided to shred/chew/stain them either.

wendy - u r an inspiration, think i'll whip out the slimfast today. PS a set back is just that...a set back; as long as you hop back on the program:banana:
DM - u are good @ being evasive, reminds me of my DSs:rolleyes1
:)

jennifer - only because i had to replace it:mad: do i know that our districts use TI 82 & 83 plus models...they graph, can download programs, etc. I had thought of the irony involved, wonder if he's "rebeling"? If so, thing dragging him to sylvan will do the trick/cramp his free time...could be worse acting out:confused3 My middle DS, who scored the highest on intelligence tests out of the 3 was a classic underachiever-class clown-no discipline back up from ex, yadda, yadda. I finally took him to Sylvan in 10th grade to be evaluated & find out how much the program would cost...they said he was functioning @ post HS level in all areas...i took him home & laid down the law:mad:  . House arrest (no video games, DVDs, computer let alone leaving the premises); turned his butt around in a semester...although he never worked any harder than he had to to scrape by. Now, he's getting ready to go back & finish bachelors while working...just took him longer to figure it out i suppose.

lori - you probably have more volunteers than you need lol

barb - u r gonna freeze! ps...i keep telling u, no divorce...be a merry widow
nutkick.gif

jodie - mattress shopping is very intimidating, i got suckered in last time i think; bought a serta pillow top few years ago; just isn't holding up well.

Before I forget, yet AGAIN, would someone enlighten me as to what the 'car of tomorrow' is??? :confused3

They changed the body style and a few other things about the car that is driven in the (now) Sprint Cup series. The new car was put into production after Dale Earnhardt Sr's death in an attempt to make a safer vehicle.

Remember this is a "stock" car... as in all the cars on the track are made almost exactly the same. They are given a little leeway in a few areas, but for the most part the cars are (supposed) to be identical.

This is one of the many reasons why I find it funny when people moan about Toyotas joining NASCAR last season. The so-called "Toyotas" are almost exactly like the so-called "Fords" "Chevys" and "Dodges" out there on the track... they just have a different sticker on the front. :confused3

Okay, so the Car of Tomorrow was in development for several years. That's why it got the nickname "Car of Tomorrow". It was the in-production car that would be driven on track sometime in the murky future. Now that it is the standard Sprint Cup car... nobody can figure out how to let go of the nickname.

The Nationwide Cup series still drives the old car.

Okay, so WHERE WAS THE TAG FAIRY LAST NIGHT???!!!???

i love having bdays.
it means i am not dead.

Uuummm, yeah, she needs to retire. . . I'm tired of doing her work and you can't fix stupid!

correction!
grandpa banana is actually MARIO banana :cool1: But then again - he is so old that he could be slowing down a bit (you know, saving a princess for over 20 years can get a bit exhausting

Going back 9 pages to ketchup.... :teeth: ...wish me luck!!!

damo..u still in SC...right? :thumbsup2

You did a great job, Barb!!

Yup. I am here untl next Friday. That's not this Friday but the NEXT FRIDAY!!! Woohoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We bought area rugs today. How exciting is that?

WHOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOO - enjoy decorating the new house!!!! Oh, and of course the warmer weather too :cool1:

DH & I are 'night owls' too....Ry is a morning person :confused3 I once saw a report or read that you are BORN either a morning person or night person...you can't change it. Maybe I'll send Bubba there and you sent Court here :scratchin He is actually 'pleasant' when he wakes up...no lie ;) I have never had a problem getting him up in the mornings..... (countin' my blessings while I can :rolleyes1 )

Sure - I would love to have you try to wake Court up on a school day - no one else here wants to even attempt THAT one for me :lmao: :lmao:

5:30AM!? Are ya kiddin' me??? DH gets up that early & is out the door by 6am! ...and I, well, I sleep till about 7:15 :rolleyes1 Our routine is simple and quick in the mornings: (skool daze)- Up and downstairs by 7:30 to eat. While Bubba eats, I make his lunch and by 8am we are upstairs. Doing--brushing teeth, washing up, getting vitamins, getting dressed and combing hair. That all must be done in 25 minutes, as he leaves for the bus at 8:29am. I leave after he's gone to skool (depending what day it is and which job I'm going to depends on the time I leave ;) ) Exciting, huh? I just know you were dying to know all that :lmao:

Tracie...I believe you've done more by the time I get up than I do all day! :rotfl2:

And I believe you get more done in a day than I do in a week :lmao: :lmao:

 :dance3:  and I am SO going to enjoy reading how you stuck in up their........ :rolleyes1

popcorn:: I'm right here with you :cool1: :thumbsup2
