Well so far these new boards are moving pretty fast for me.

Sorry I missed the big count down last night.

Good morning everyone!

Tracie - Sounds like you got a great hall! Way to go to your dh!

Janet - Hope the DH pays off the CC for ya! Surely DS will be okay with you forgetting the anniversary for a couple of days. Glad to hear your mil is a better woman than mine. I just don't understand why people act that way.

Mac - Did you do that laundry last night?

Katie - I hope the tooth is feeling better.

Speaking of teeth, never did tell you guys are tooth emergency last Thursday/Friday. Ally had some teeth pulled earlier this year & had spacers put in to the tune of $1200, dental insurance sucks. Well these spacers were not needed it turns out becaue new teeth are already growing in. Thursday evening, after 5 she informs us that the cap on one of the spacers broke earlier in the day and it was cutting up her jaw. We had to cut it out to keep it from doing any more damage. Well then the wire was cutting her tongue on the other side of her mouth after a while. So first thing Friday morning, the morning of her Christmas party so she is n't wanting to miss school, I call a dentist here in our small town. No one in the family has ever been to him before. They say to be there at 9:15, we walk in to an office full of established patients and they come right out and get Ally to take her back. I am waiting at the reception stand to fill out paper work and the secretary tells me to go ahead and go back wth Ally. The dentist agreed that we had to cut it out like we had done and within 10 minutes was completely inished with Ally. I went back up front to fill out the paper work and they said we were all done. They had never seen anyone in our family before, I never filled out any paper work and they didn't charge me a dime. They now have new patients.

Sharon - We probably won't do much NYE. We were planning to have a sleep over for Ally's birthday but never did get around to getting invitations out. Now I will probably be watching the DGD too. Oldst DS will be 23 on the 1st so we will have a birthday dinner for him then.

Tricia - Thanks so much for sharing Christmas with us. The boys looked like they had a lot of fun. And the look on Daniel's face with the stocking is priceless. Hope you are getting some much needed rest.

Now as for those lap bars - I have always felt like it was extra work and extra delay. I always check my own and Ally's and everyone I know checks there own. I would think that there is also a display panel with the ride operator that shows if there are bars that are not latched. In fact don't you see it when you stop to get your belts checked at TT? Don't think they would be risking letting cars go without knowing they were locked down.

Todd - Saw that the poster meant for that to be funny, not a slam at Universal but they should have included the explanation in the original post.

Is today the day you went to theour family? Hope you are having a blast!!!!

Well, talk to you all later. Gotta go run some errands.

Hi all-
Sorry, I've been MIA :guilty:
Too many phone calls yesterday coming in.
My dad started his chemo treatment yest. It's a 24 hr/ for 7 day pump chemo thing. My mom went with him to the doctor's office to get this thing set up. THey had to go out in the snowstorm, yuck. I haven't seen the contraption yet. My mom will let me see it when my dad is up to it. On Thurs, my mom had the stomach flu :sad2: Hopefully my dad wont catch it.

I have to finish cleaning here and take a shower soon. SIL invited herself over to drop off a family present for us for Christmas. She is supposed to bring FIL here(he is the one with alzheimer's/dementia in hte nursing home).
I was washing floors at 6am this morning.

I can't seem to catch-up with everyone here, sorry. Hope to catch-up sometime later.

Lori- Thank you so much for your Christmas card :santa:
I don't know what to say about your MIL :sad2: I just know in my family(my mom and dad) and DH's side of family, no one gets gifts over $50 per child, even the adults. I don't get much from my parents every yr and we don't get much from DH's family either. Probably why DH and I are so poor :guilty: We just make do what we have I suppose(talking about DH, I, Chrissy, and Matthew only).

Tricia- enjoyed your pictures :)

Hi to all :wave2:

Love the Burger King dude from a few pages ago

Lori, I got your Christmas card in the mail. How cute is that! You guys do a great job with the homemade/personal touch.

As far as your rants... Let me just say that nobody... parent, grandparent, whoever... should treat any member of the family different from any other. Especially children. It effects how everyone feels when there is favoritism or slights. That's not fair to anyone, not the person getting more or the ones getting less.

AND, I'm right there with you on the hearing about how much our kids get at birthdays or Christmas. My in laws LOVE to point out how much the kids get... how they don't "need" it... how they only got ONE present (maybe) for a special occasion when they were kids... blah, blah, blah. Ummm... hello? Didn't you walk through the door with TWO presents for each child for Christmas? That right there tells you that they'll be getting more than ONE thing, doesn't it? :headache:

the boards are shutting down tonight?
didn't know that.

no bubba check in yet tonight.
and we have a few other mia's.................

i'm counting noses and i don't see yours

First of all, my nose didn't know the boards were going down last night until I tried to log on at 10pm :headache: ....so, that's my excuse and I'm stickin' to it :snooty:

Btw....next time the boards will be down, can someone post it on this thread? Some days I don't get over to the regular forum (must be why I missed Bev's announcement) and I only check in here..... Either post it here or send me an email...cuz that I do check! ;) I would be most appreciative.....

So, now that I have turned in my 'note'....off to

trying to wrap my brain around the price on those 2 'lil ole days @ U next October, was unable to commit today:sad2: (final ...thankfully they'll sit on it until tomorrow afternoon; and i wake up & smell what the rates are cooking. Maybe the AAA fairy will come overnight? Even the reservationist agreed it was very expensive, way more than she remembered for this year.

and...what did you finally come up with? I don't see you on the 2008 Date/Rate thread...

remind me to take a picture of DS & his pet snakelight, he walks around the house with it wrapped around his neck...snakelight scissorhands?

:surfweb:

Our tree was taken down yesterday, it is usually up until after the 1st but the needles were falling from it like I have never seen. Thought it best to go ahead and get it out of the house. So the Christmas decorations are already gone. I spent the rest of the day cleaning up the Christmas mess & cleaning out my closet. Lazed around today, so sick of the grey sky. I NEED SUN!!!!!!!

Kinda sad to already have the tree gone...ain't it? :( Ours is up after New Year's, but down by the 9th of Jan....(DH's birthday and he wants NO parts of Christmas around for it!) I saw on the news that 1/2 of Dec. was 'cloudy'....no wonder I was feeling the 'blues' too...no sun  (Of course, no sun = no motivation for me either :sad2: )

I'll be cleaning out Ally's closet in her bedroom tomorrow or Saturday.............

What's your hourly rate? :scratchin :rolleyes1

And finally I have a couple of vents.

My mil, who has now had her 18th Christmas with my two oldest children (now 24 & 22) - not dh's kids by blood , still can not treat them the same as my other two children. This really makes Christmas a very unhappy time for me.

But what set me off this year was she sent me the money to get Ally's birthday and Christmas presents, she sent $300 and asked if it was enough. Of course it was enough. Then the next phone call was you don't have to spend all of that on Ally, go ahead and get some little something for Madison!

I bought presents for Madie and took them to the inlaws so she would have as many presents to open as Ally & Mikey did and not have her feelings hurt too. So am I just overly sensitive or do you guys think this is wrong too?

It and she are wrong....that is not fair ESPECIALLY when kids are involved! Heck, some kids get bent outta shape if they have 1 or 2 more gifts to open than another...not realizing same amount of $$ was spent..... I don't blame you for feeling the way you do. And if there's a next time, I'd tell her to spend the same amount on everyone or else don't get anyone anything....then leave the choice up to her....

loribell said:
And my next vent I am so sick of my mother & dh's mother making such a big deal over Ally getting so much at this time of the year. I was ready to kick them both out of my house Sunday before we were even done with the cake.

Uh...why didn't you kick them out again? :confused3 They are older ladies and 'old fashioned'. Tell them how it is and tell them you don't want to hear about it anymore...YOUR house, YOUR rule. Don't let them upset you...not worth it. I'd tell them how it is and if they don't like it, they can leave/not come :snooty: That is rude and ignorant to say stuff like that....maybe when she's an adult, but while she's a kid....nope....rude..... :sad2:

loribell said:
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that mil does not like the cakes with the whipped icing so for every birthday I buy her a special small butter cream (lard) icing cake. I just want to scream.

Again (just bein' your friend), but why are you catering to her??? Every party I was at, if I didn't care for the cake, I didn't eat any...... Why are you catering to her likes? (I could maybe understand if she had a 'dietetic' reason, but you just mention she "dislikes" it.... She can either bring her own cake, eat what is served, or not eat any...... all this AND she is saying how Ally shouldn't get so much (because of birthday and Xmas so close together....) Ya know, I'M starting to dislike your MIL..... lemme at 'er.....

You know I felt so bad being away from the family last year for Christmas but after going through all of this again I really don't care to be here for the holidays any more. I missed being in Orlando more than I could have ever imagined. Next year I plan to be back there.

Thanks for listening. Hope you all don't think I am a selfish witch.

Go back to Florida for Christmas...you don't need that aggravation....it's supposed to be a 'happy' time for families.....your family just seems to 'stress' you out.....go be happy..... it's not selfish....it's being smart & happy :thumbsup2 (and if you could squeeze me and my boys in yer luggage, we'd happily accompany you :rolleyes1 )

Glad to see everyone had a nice Holiday. Everything was really nice here too...this was Mom's year (Jim really went over the top and made me cry!) He got me the HP Scanjet3010. I have wanted a scanner for some time (since our last one broke) and I was pleasantly surprised that I got one! :thumbsup2

Next up was a HUGE surprise.....a new laptop!!! My old one was starting to lose it.......overheating, would lose our wireless connection, couldn't turn it off - because it took forever to turn it back on :headache:

My DH is not a jewelry person, but this year he got me a really nice sapphire bracelet......have to see if I can get a picture of it up!

also got a really cool greeting card software - and 950,000 click art images software

The kids got everything on their list between the three houses

just wanted to pop in and say my "HELLO!!!!!!!" to the homies.

Hey yourself! Santa done you well :thumbsup2
Laptop eh?? :scratchin ....maybe live trip reports :rolleyes1 Nice to have a 'working' one back, huh??? (I love mine!)

Jewelry is good....he did good with that! Would love to see pic.... I got a diamond heart necklace (needs longer chain, but i'm making due ;) )

Glad you got the scanner you wanted.....does that mean we get to see more pix??

Hilites on what the kids got....guess they were happy since they got what they asked for.... but, what did they ask for???

Oh, and I didn't have a chance to tell you how bad i felt for you when i read about your car mishap :( I hope it will be okay...it's a good thing you're still able to drive it :goodvibes

Sooo what do you all think of Disney not physically checking lapbars anymore? All that's required is a visual check.

I know a lot of people here have renamed "The Happiest Place on Earth" to "The Deadliest Place on Earth" due to all the recent deaths. I find it disturbing that anyone would ignore the problems at Disney and say anything bad about Universal.

first of all..... :lmao: regarding the "deadliest place on earth" comment.... wow! some really think that??? ...and I thought WAIT Disney World was bad :sad2:

Second, I'm with whoever mentioned before (Lori?) .... I check my lapbar and DS's...and DH checks his and DS's.... I don't think anyone wants to be going anywhere without it secured...so, I think most people will check their own ;) What fun is vacation if you're falling out of a ride?? :confused3 I also agree that even when Disney gets negative press/attention, they STILL cannot find anything good to say about UO :confused3

todd remember how i was hurt on the disney ride in october?
they still have not contacted me back.

either they don't care or hope i forget about it.

Mac you need to keep on them cause thats what they are wanting you to forget about and then they won't have to deal with you.

I agree..... Maybe you should ring in their new year and give 'em a call. I am sure they think you have forgotten and have no intention of following thru. Probably don't want the bad publicity....but, still ..... follow up on it.... ::yes::

What's everyone doing for New Year's Eve?

After dinner going to a friends house..... last year we hosted and had a Murder Mystery dinner thing...it was cool :thumbsup2

Just the usual game playing and drinking we do every year.....

This is my first Christmas in many years that I am not in Orlando :sad2:

As for New Year's plans....big fat nothing! :rotfl:

The DF and I are usually apart on New Years...so I really don't know what we will do besides sleep!

You and Lori should plan next Christmas in Orlando :thumbsup2 How come you and DF aren't together at NY?? What's THAT about?? :confused3

I took 600 mg of Ibuprofen...like 3 advil gelcaps

Seems to be doing the trick for now!

 Bad tooth :headache:

too bad you don't have any dope to smoke, that would relieve the pain and help you sleep tonight.

 :thumbsup2

Jack and Old Grand Dad are DH's two favorites -

Nah no dope, I'm a health teacher...goes against my principles

That's okay....we ALL make mistakes sometimes..... :rolleyes1

I probably shouldn't mention this with Katie the Health Teacher reading, but Brad's nickname in college was Weed... :rolleyes1

Does that mean we can call you Mrs. Weed? :lmao:

The children were nestled all snug in their bed...

ChristmasEve4.jpg

They started out bouncing on the bed together and finally snuggled down while I read them How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Since they fell asleep that way, I didn't want to risk anything by disturbing them.

Altho I think you 'planned' the "snug in their bed" shot... I still love it! It is so very cute! :goodvibes

(love all your pix of Christmas!!)

Glad she feels better....that's a shame to feel bad like that...especially around the holidays. :sad2:

That is excellent service also... No wonder you'll go there from now on.... skools all teach the same 'basic' dentistry....like all cos skools teach the same cuts, perm techniques, etc..... Anyone can LEARN the profession...it's the PEOPLE who make you want to return. I have a client (who happens to be a friend of Mom's) who is ALWAYS late for her standing weekly appt. I know it. I expect it. I don't 'yell' at her or "tell her about it"...I accept it. She told me recently one of the reasons she left her last stylist (and she liked how she did her hair) was because she constantly yelled at her for being late. Maybe the stylist "tried" to get rid of her as a client, but who would WANT to stay being treated like that? :confused3

When you go out to eat, aren't you more inclined to leave a better tip for good service?? It's all about customer service...and that's what Lori got--excellent service.... Now their reward is a new patient :thumbsup2

My dad started his chemo treatment yest. It's a 24 hr/ for 7 day pump chemo thing.

:wizard: for your Dad Rose.....hope it helps. At least he got to enjoy Christmas a little before feeling so bad..... I hope the visit with the in-laws goes nice.... Bet your FIL will be happy to be "out" for a change ;)

Don't think of yourselves as "poor"...think of yourselves as "lucky". I'm sure you have a lot more than some people. The most important is you have each other :grouphug: Love is irreplaceable and as long as you have each other, you'll be fine. Never dwell on what you don't have, focus on what you DO have :thumbsup2

It's the end of December and I'm running my AC. What gives???? :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

:confused3 my heat is running....BUT it is in the 50's and SUNNY for a change :cool2: (taking advantage of the "warm" day and going outside to take down Xmas decorations....)

Todd....bet you're having a glorious day at MK today, huh??? :rolleyes1 :rotfl: Can't wait to read all about it... :thumbsup2

Hello Kettle?? This is Pot......

Okay, now that i've been talking to myself for quite awhile, i can say i'm

So, that said, I'm off to undecorate outside, sew TKD patch on DS's uniform and find some other trouble to get into....
