Ha - ex had a red toyota corolla beater (stick, never did learn how to drive it-think that was the plan to keep me from using it - ha!) It didn't quite reach 200 K, good runner though.
All my cars, with the exception of the the Chevy, have been stick-shift. It's really not that hard to learn, it just takes practice. They're less expensive and get better gas mileage, so why aren't there more of them?? :confused3 :confused3

.....i'm so glad we did the ornabuddy exchange.
we have to do it again next year.

we all have something from our group that we can use next year on our tree.
creating memories is a good thing to do.
the first ornaments i will put on my tree next year are the ones barb sent me.
just have to figure out how to put that big blue ornament in a box to keep it safe. it is a biggie!

 :rotfl2: sorry.... :rolleyes1 (again... I will throw out the "hanging from the rearview mirror of the car" idea :rolleyes1 )

we have gained almost 3 minutes of daylight.
:goodvibes

85 days until spring:goodvibes

I just got my power bill e-mailed to me.

Lucky.....wanna trade.... :rolleyes1

OK, I'm sorry I haven't gone back to read everything. Mike and I had a busy day yesterday and one is starting today then we leave for Maine tomorrow morning. So, please let me just say that I do hope everyone had the very merriest of Christmases. Please stay healthy and safe and enjoy the New Year festivities!

(BTW, had my niece overnight on Christmas night into Wednesday ... here is reason 4,957 why I do not have children: had her put on deodorant. Forgot to make her brush her teeth in the morning. She's 6. Didn't remember that she didn't brush her teeth till I shipped her home to mom and forgot to pack her toothbrush. We did have a nice day though of Alvin & the Chipmunks -- dumb, but she loved it. We also did a mani/pedi. Geez it's hard getting a 6-year-old to sit still long enough for her nails to dry.)

Have a safe trip...and a good time! :goodvibes Glad to hear you had a good time with your niece....it can be exhausting if you're not used to having a child that age around.... I'm sure she had a good time..... :goodvibes (oh, and if you want a FAST topcoat to dry your nails, get Essie "Good to Go" ....it's what I use and it's the absolute fastest, best one I've EVER used :thumbsup2 Dry in 10 minutes...[and that's being generous!]

Cause it's too hard to shift and paint your nails and talk on the phone at the same time. :rolleyes1

my electric & gas bill will be more than my mortgage payment next month, and will remain the same until we see the sun again in western pa.

No gas here...electric pretty much remains the same....altho October electric was higher due to heat pump running instead of oil kicking in.... when it's mild like that, that's what will run...once outside temp drops below 45, system kicks over to oil.... Last delivery of oil we got was only 63 gallons :rotfl: because of the mild October.... Using it all the time now...glad we prepaid...price went UP big time  :sad2:

I am trying to shovel out my house. Find somewhere to stick the new toys... get rid of the boxes... all that fun stuff. I am hosting the family Christmas party tomorrow afternoon.

How did that happen? I don't actually remember making the plans. It just kinda evolved. :confused3

Not sure how that happened....BUT, here's an idea to PREVENT it again.... ;) Don't clean it up. Have NO room for company that way when 'they' volunteer you next time, they won't WANT to come to your place.... (works for me... :rolleyes1 )

i grill year round also.

I'll deposit my 2 cents on grilling....we do it year round too...IF the mood hits me. Our grill is on the back porch and it's just at the eave...so, I usually pull it further under if bad weather. Funny thing...before my girlfriend's husband installed my light out there, we didn't have any.... So, I'd take the ole Black & Decker Snakelight (remember them?) and put it around my neck and aim it at the grill so I could see what I was doing :rotfl: (hey...it worked! :confused3 )

Hey homies just dropped by to do catch up and say hi:dance3:

Hey yourself Lawrence!!

called the docs today- i have the sore throat again and still a sinus infection and called and said, okay, last day of meds, i need to be seen. and they gave me 815 friday morning.
hoping another round of zithromax will do it. allergic to cillins and sulphites so lots of stuff cannot have...... :rolleyes1

 Mummydust for better drugs for you :wizard: (Maybe come home from the docs and tell DH he/she prescribed a 2 week vacation in Fla? :rolleyes1  )

I can drive stick, but prefer not to. When the boy was little, I always seemed to need a 'free' hand for something....sometimes even if it was just to have a hand on his leg or hold his foot :confused3 I think it's a matter of what you're comfy with...For instance, my friend drives a truck for a living. It's stick. After driving like that all day, he doesn't want to be bothered after working..... It's a 'relaxing' thing for him :confused3 To each his own....

my  can barely contain his bad self...

so a-peeling

i'm punchy, trying to wrap my brain around the price on those 2 'lil ole days @ U next October, was unable to commit today:sad2: (final ...thankfully they'll sit on it until tomorrow afternoon; and i wake up & smell what the rates are cooking. Maybe the AAA fairy will come overnight? Even the reservationist agreed it was very expensive, way more than she remembered for this year. Sounds positvely absurd to complain, suck it up & time out for me in the corner.:teacher: macaroni & hotdogs will invade my grocery list 'fer sure.

said it before & i'll say it again - Bubba IS the man

remind me to take a picture of DS & his pet snakelight, he walks around the house with it wrapped around his neck...snakelight scissorhands?

penny - cipro? good luck

as for stick shifts, i was taken out to be educated one time on a hill by ex. Stoopid thing kept drifiting back & thought I'd give the poor lady behind me a heart attack. Couldn't find the gear:confused3 She wound up going around me while i sat in a cold sweat/despair & fool howled. Vowed to never try again.:headache: DH (CDL man) keeps trying to coax me, along with middle DS who inherited a Beretta standard & now has some odd Eclipse that is both auto & some form of a stick? (that i can drive;) )

see ya all tomorrow, off to watch my more of my history of DL tape (fell asleep last night; a bit dry lol).

Evening everyone!!

Lori: Got your Xmas card today! Too cute!!!

Penny: Are we doing a Valentine's day trade? Let me know, I'll send out the address!

Hard to believe we are coming to the end of 07...where did this year go???

Taking down the outdoor decorations tomorrow :sad2: But just another step and a sign that we are getting closer to spring!

Oh my gosh! You guys have yaked so much while I have been absent yet again!

Rose - Glad the headache is better & kids happy with Christmas. Sorry your dad's feeling so scared. Hopefully the treatments will kick it.

Mac - Glad you made it back safe and sound. Hope everything went well with dad.

Barb - Congrats to Bubba & team!!!!!

Tracie - Sorry bout the car but so gald you are fine!

DM - Congrats on the new car!

Todd - Sounds like lots of fun to be had with the family on a very busy day.

Janet - Did the ex survive?

Tricia - Don't know how you keep getting volunteered?!? Glad the boys had a great Christmas.

Penny - Hate to say it, but I have to go with the Pats. Can't stand young Eli myself. Did you get my address from the others? If not I will pm you.

Gemma - Hope you had a fabulous Christmas. Loved the BK pic Barb sent you!

Katie - What a wonderful present from the DF. Someday I will be up there to see some of those wonderful shows. Thanks for the comment on the card. See I really did eventually get them mailed!

Lawrence - Hey right back at ya!

Jodie - Have a safe trip and have fun. Glad you had fun with the niece, and I think you would make a great momma! And Mike would make a great daddy!

Marcie - I think I would have left a note for the boys that their gift was in the garage. Be safe tomorrow and have fun!

Jennifer - Saw that they filed suit against your ex-coach. Guess that means he won't be with the team for the big game. Are you ready?

Sharon - Sounds like yet another great shopping day with your daughter.

To anyone else I didn't address hello! Hope you all had a great Christmas!

Our tree was taken down yesterday, it is usually up until after the 1st but the needles were falling from it like I have never seen. Thought it best to go ahead and get it out of the house. So the Christmas decorations are already gone. I spent the rest of the day cleaning up the Christmas mess & cleaning out my closet. Lazed around today, so sick of the grey sky. I NEED SUN!!!!!!!

I'll be cleaning out Ally's closet in her bedroom tomorrow or Saturday. Anything she didn't recently get is getting boxed up and taken out of here. The child will only have her new stuff in her bedroom. Maybe this way she will actually get some use out of it. And maybe I will actually be able to put clothes in her closet and dresser again.

After that I will clean out her toy room. Yes the child really does have two rooms. She has never let us get rid of anything yet she has so much she never can find anything to play with because of the mess. It is ending before the end of 07! 08 is going to be different in this house!

I will then start going through boxes in my office. Most of the stuff is crap that just needs to be thrown away. And maybe my mother will come get the rest of her crap some day!

Now on to other things:

As for words that bug me...

DH says "rat" for right. Can someone please explain to me why?

Other than that it is more that the guys thinnk it is cute to talk redneck. I'm sorry but there is nothing cute about talking or acting that way.

One other thing is that you know how some people up North leave out their "R's"? Well we found them down here. Many words that do not have an "R" in them have one pronounced in these parts, for example wash is pronounced as warsh.

I searched to no avail, remember reading that someone was looking for a copy of "The Nightmare Before Christmas"? I might be able to help them! ;)

I hear ya. In NY we have a selection of people who do not pronounce their "r's"

I sometimes catch myself saying New Yawk instead of New York....not often, but sometimes it slips

And finally I have a couple of vents.

My mil, who has now had her 18th Christmas with my two oldest children (now 24 & 22) - not dh's kids by blood , still can not treat them the same as my other two children. This really makes Christmas a very unhappy time for me. In fact she doesn't even treat Ally the same as she treats Mikey. She spends an outrageous amount of money on Mikey for Christmas & his birthday. In fact she has never spent/given him less than $200 for his birthday. For Christmas it is even more ridiculous. With Ally she gets about $200 spent on her for Christmas and maybe $50 for her birthday. Miranda & Chris get nothing for their birthday and get a box with $150 in it for Christmas. Now I am not saying that $150 or $200 is not enough for Christmas. I really am not that selfish but I hate it that she shows so much difference in the kids. But what set me off this year was she sent me the money to get Ally's birthday and Christmas presents, she sent $300 and asked if it was enough. Of course it was enough. Then the next phone call was you don't have to spend all of that on Ally, go ahead and get some little something for Madison! Yes, my granddaughter was an after thought to her and I just needed to get the 4 year old some little something! I was furious, I was once again hurt and I knew that once again my older children would be hurt. They do not see their dad's family so they don't get extra there that the other two don't. Well of course the not so dh can't believe I am so upset. So I bought presents for Madie and took them to the inlaws so she would have as many presents to open as Ally & Mikey did and not have her feelings hurt too. So am I just overly sensitive or do you guys think this is wrong too?

And my next vent I am so sick of my mother & dh's mother making such a big deal over Ally getting so much at this time of the year. I was ready to kick them both out of my house Sunday before we were even done with the cake. Is there some rule somewhere that I don't know about that says that children who have a birthday at Christmas are supposed to get less for their birthday???????????? Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that mil does not like the cakes with the whipped icing so for every birthday I buy her a special small butter cream (lard) icing cake. I just want to scream.

You know I felt so bad being away from the family last year for Christmas but after going through all of this again I really don't care to be here for the holidays any more. I missed being in Orlando more than I could have ever imagined. Next year I plan to be back there.

Tricia I hope you are ready for a new neighbor! I am so ready to move away from the family so I don't have to go through this crap any more.

Thanks for listening. Hope you all don't think I am a selfish witch.

Don't worry about dropping it we always say it in wash.

Wow it is 11. Guess I better go be a mom/grandma and get thr girls in bed. Yes they really are still up!

:confused3

Morning all.....

Must have slipped into that black hole here again (need to get that checked out!!)

Glad to see everyone had a nice Holiday. Everything was really nice here too...this was Mom's year (Jim really went over the top and made me cry!) He got me the HP Scanjet3010. I have wanted a scanner for some time (since our last one broke) and I was pleasantly surprised that I got one! :thumbsup2

Next up was a HUGE surprise.....a new laptop!!! My old one was starting to lose it.......overheating, would lose our wireless connection, couldn't turn it off - because it took forever to turn it back on :headache:

My DH is not a jewelry person, but this year he got me a really nice sapphire bracelet......have to see if I can get a picture of it up!

also got a really cool greeting card software - and 950,000 click art images software

The kids got everything on their list between the three houses

Need to go back and read up a bit more.....so I can respond to everyone - BUT have a house full of kids today (my 3, 2 nephews and the other 2 I normally watch in the summer and on school breaks - plus Jim is home too!) so it may take me until later to do so

just wanted to pop in and say my "HELLO!!!!!!!" to the homies.
