Penny....I hope your drugs start to kick in and you feel better soon.....and you're right, if not better by week's end, get into the doctor before the next holiday weekend ;) (Hopefully what you have will do the trick.... do you think it's an infection or flu  )

Sounds like Gema had a wonderful Christmas....how did you cookies turn out??? Merry Boxing right back at ya! (do you have that there? i thought that was a Canadian holiday? then again...what do i know? :confused3 )

If you live in Canada or Britian or even Down Under it is Boxing Day.

It is not a holiday here in the US. All banks, post offices, stores and the trade market is open.It is generally quiet though. Things will turn back to Full Blast Normal next Wednesday. New years Eve day lots of places close by 3 or 6 and since the 80's , almost every retailer and shop is open New Years Day. Before 1982, New Years Day was still a real holiday like Christmas. I always felt bad for stores that were open. Now things in the US are only closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and Easter Day.

:lmao: Shoulda left one of my posts up and kept refreshing it.... :lmao: would have given him the countdonw down to the second!

I mean, he woke up this morning, started playing his computer game (in his room) and never came in to wake us. At around 8:30-9:00am, we got up and came downstairs. I hollered upstairs if he wanted breakfast, he said yes. So, I made him his pancakes and made him eat while looking at his gifts :rotfl2: That'll teach him to be excited at Christmas :snooty:

Joshua bounced on our bed, dragging Daniel with him, screaming, "MOM! There are chairs in front of the tree! And presents ALL THE WAY AROUND IT! You gotta come see!"

Merry Christmas all once again! (A least while there is still an hour left)

I hope Santa treated everyone nicely! :santa:

I know my DF gave me a fantastic gift...we are going to see the Little Mermaid on Broadway in March!!!

Lots of good stuff this year, I'm a very fortunate person

I hope everyone's holiday was happy and healthy and let's bring in another great year!

That's a great gift! I'm glad you had a wonderful Christmas.

i'm back home.

thanks for the thoughts penny, it's appreciated.

i'm sure you are all asleep now.

sweet sleep

Good to see you back Mac! How are things? Did you make it back for Christmas with your family?

It's The Day After.

Thus begins the best time to get your gifts, as much will be discounted even heavier!

So true! I am afraid that we may very well be venturing into retail h*ll today. :scared:

dont think i told you all, i ended up calling the emergency number for the docs office sunday-never done that before
the on call person called back within 20 minutes and called in a prescription for me... i just wish i felt better. will call again tomorow if it does not improve. working 12-5 these next 3 days. will be very quiet at work. yes!

Wow! I hope the meds start helping you feel better Penny.

Merry Boxing Day everyone!!!

Do you get knackered on Boxing Day? :confused3 :lmao:

Have a good visit and a safe drive. You're a good woman to do the duty visit and help with the ride.

It is just the "day after Christmas" here. :confused3

Disney movies generally run in 10 year cycles. They release them from "the vault" once every 10 years or so. It's available for 6 months to a year, then they pull it and you can't get it again for another decade. I checked the Disney movie website and "this title is not currently for sale" http://disneyvideos.disney.go.com/moviefinder/products/2010203.html

I don't know where in the release cycle it would be. The prices for them go sky high in the years between releases.

Good morning all!
We had a good Christmas overall :thumbsup2

I did wake up with a massive sinus headache this morning:headache:, but I'm doing better now so far.
DH is back at work this morning as usual. It's nice how Christmas and New Years Day falls this yr on the calendar, as he got Christmas Eve and Christmas
Day off. I'm pretty sure he gets New Yrs Eve off as well. Nice to get that 4-day weekend, but he dosn't get paid for the holidays since he is still a temp. But we'll be ok :thumbsup2

My dad had his mediport or medicath( I don't know the exact name of it) inserted this morning via day surgery. My mom was with him. He is in the recovery room now and should be going home soon. On Fri. he is supposed to start his chemo tx. My poor dad was in a real cranky mood yest. as I could tell he is very nervous and scared of going thru all this

Mac- Glad you are back :) How did your dad's heart surgery go?

Yankee Penny- I hope you get better soon  Hope the change of meds will help you :wizard:
Sorry, I dont have Nightmare Before Christmas :guilty: Hope you find a decent copy soon. I do have James and the Giant Peach on DVD, but Matthew really loves that movie, so I'm not giving that one up ;)

Damo, Gemma - I've heard of Boxing Day for many yrs, since I was a teenager. I think one of the Beatles movies, Ringo mentioned Boxing Day real quick. I don't know what you do on that holiday, but I'm glad you all get the day off :)

Hi to all I didn't address!

My kids are kicking me off the computer now
Hope to bbl.

Just saying a quick hi from work! Sorry I haven't been keeping up the past few days, but it sounds like I'm not the only one. Spent much of yesterday doing assembly. The pool/ping pong table was just all kinds of fun to put together. After it took DH and I a good hour Christmas Eve to get it even from the garage to the house, we decided the kids were getting the box and could help us assemble it because we never could have gotten the box downstairs ourselves. WAY heavy! It wasn't hard, just step-intensive (and heavy) to assemble.

Meanwhile, had to do a lot of restructuring of the basement to fit the weight set, the pool table, the new futon and TV and Xbox.

The big game winner was Rock Band. Works well because 3 can play at a time (4 if you buy another guitar), so all 3 boys can play together. one is a big drummer so it's cool for him, one's a singer so he does that and oldest DS gets to do the guitar. DH loved the songs so he was playing along (singing) a lot yesterday too!

Sorry - I got interrupted here at work!

Mac - what happened? Did everything go okay? Please let us all know! Glad you're back. How did Christmas go?

We had a good time at Christmas Eve mass. DS12 actually got to play 3 songs on the tuba, 2 on the piano, and 2 percussion at church (including Little Drummer Boy if you wouldn't have guessed!). Always makes it more interesting to watch your kid playing! I took some pics, but only before mass started and I'm not too sure how well they came out. This stupid usher kept standing between me and DH - for some reason he was more concerned with seating people than my picture taking! :confused3

Glad everyone had a good Christmas. And here, DS14 (Stephen) always lets everyone know that today is St. Stephen's day. He was the FIRST saint, which seems important to my son at least. Of course he was also stoned to death, but still! Anyways, I've heard Boxing Day primarily from the Agatha Christie books I've read!

We're leaving to go skiing Friday at lunch time. Right now the forecast for Friday is a winter storm, including 5+ inches of snow. Good for skiing; for driving 4 hours, not so much! ;)

Catch you all later!

Joshua bounced on our bed, dragging Daniel with him, screaming, "MOM! There are chairs in front of the tree! And presents ALL THE WAY AROUND IT! You gotta come see!"

:rotfl2: Ah to be young and excited again.... :teeth: What's with the chairs? :confused3 That to keep them "out" till you get up? ;)

So true! I am afraid that we may very well be venturing into retail h*ll today. :scared:

Did you go? What didja get? Hmmmmm..... :rolleyes1

Do you get knackered on Boxing Day? :confused3 :lmao:

:thumbsup2 :lmao: :lmao:

Have a good visit and a safe drive. You're a good woman to do the duty visit and help with the ride.

Had a safe trip, and good visit with my Aunt and "Aunt" ...altho, it's never long enuf :sad2: I hate that ride down to Philadelphia....so long...it makes me tired Now I have zero energy...but, (luckily) have NO plans for tonite except to actually watch Christmas with the Kranks on tv (never seen it).....

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Yes HE does listen!
The NFL Network bowed down and they are allowing both CBS AND NBC along with the NFL network to show the Saturday nite 8:15 game between Undeafeated New England
against the Giants.

Could my wishy washy team defeat the mighty patriots, who are on the verge of being the first team since the 1972 14-0 Dolphins to go undefeated??????:scared:

Will the viewer rating be as high as the series ender for M*A*S*H*, which was like 120 Million ????:scared:

okay, you can all play.

who will win?

New England
or
New York Giants

Gemma and Damo, you can vote too.

Hola!

Up at 6:30 am to go out for the after-Xmas sales and guess what....the stores were empty!! :confused3 They were showing that there were lines all over the place...but nope.

OK by me...didn't get much though...some ribbon and wreaths.....I want to try and make a Mickey wreath.

Mac: Welcome back!

Tricia: Thanks!

Barb: Yea, he's a good guy! I live about 45 minutes away from the city on the train. So not a bad trip.

To everyone else: Hope we are all having a restful post-Xmas...I know my tree is already down!

Hey Rose...glad to hear the headache is better.... a couple years ago I had made up my mind that I wasn't sick...just a cold....um, yeah...big mistake. Christmas was the worst day of it and my head felt like it was going to explode. Not a fun day....actually NO day is fun with a headache/sinus infection, but Christmas morning with a child who 'still believes' :sad2: It was nice to have the eve and holiDAY on Monday and Tuesday...nice long weekend. DH actually had a 1/2 vacation day last Friday and went into work 1 hr. early Mon-Thurs. to make up 4 hours so he wouldn't have to go in those 4 hours Friday morning! Worked out great....sent the boy to skool, then wrapped his gifts  So, he had a 5 day 'weekend' and went back today. He said it sucked to be back. But, he works until Friday, and took vacation day Monday and has off Tuesday.... then his vacation/personal/sick time starts all over again! :woohoo: (of course, he has about 10-11 days of vacation already scheduled for the summer :rolleyes1 )

I'll bet your Dad is scared.... getting his mediport in makes it more "realistic" for him and we know he's not looking forward to feeling so bad.... I hope his treatments help :goodvibes

I agree Marcie...if you don't believe in Santa, bring your screwdrivers and be prepared to 'assemble'!! :thumbsup2 You and Royce put your time in.....time to "train new elves"
That is cool that Rock Band can have 4 players.... many things seem for 1 or 2 players....3 being "odd out"....so, I'm sure they will have fun together doing that....creating great memories.....
Regarding that usher in your way.... I would have gotten his attention and said, "xcuse me.... i need to get a shot of my son, don't you know who I am?" (then let him 'stew about it' and try to figure it out!)
I thought you were going snowboarding? Or is that both?? :confused3 I'm sure you'll all have a great time!!!!

I saw that Penny....thought of you immediately  Glad you will get to see the game...altho, I'll have to go with the obvious and vote Pats....sorry....just the odds in their favor :rolleyes1 :duck:

Oh, and regarding Nightmare Before Xmas....do the video stores have it to rent?? Maybe you could 'copy' it from them? .... or buy it??? :confused3

Wait! First, the stores were empty?? As in NO shoppers? :confused3 AND...you already have your tree down? :confused3 What's goin' on?? :sad2: Don't tell me you're humbuggin too :sad2: (and, I didn't realize you lived so close to NYC ...close enuf, but yet far enuf..... :thumbsup2 That's cool to live close enuf for 'day trip' stuff if ya want...)

(oh, and Katie.....since you put your ticker in your sig, your snowman is cut off the bottom! )

Gema.....

I got you a belated Christmas gift.....(he was 75% off).... :rotfl:

Enjoy!! ;)

Just stopped by to say Hi to all the homies:cool1:

Rose - Glad the headache improved. Those sinus ones stink. Well, there is no GOOD headache... but you know what I mean. I'm sure your dad is going through the same thing Carol did when they put in her port. It is uncomfortable and weird to have this foreign object stuck in you. Plus, you know WHY they are putting it in. It puts it right there in their mind all the time.

Marcie - You sound busy, but good busy. Have fun on your skiing trip. I have never been on skis in my life.

Penny - I'm so happy that the football game is on a channel that you can see. I'm going to vote for your Giants just because. It's been 25 years since a perfect season? Meh... ;)

Katie - We ventured out about 2pm this afternoon. Plenty of people in the store, but really not that overwhelming. Not that great of sales out there yet.

Barb - The chairs were gifts. Spongebob Squarepants and Lightening McQueen saucer chairs for the boys. I'll try to get some pics of the "Santa Tree" up later.

We went shopping for outfits for the boys to wear for Idiot Nephew's rehearsal. I made them try on a bunch of stuff at home, but they have both gone through a growth spurt in the past month and nothing worked. Can you imagine dragging 2 boys away from a house full of new toys to go shopping for nice clothes? Yeah. It went over REAL big. There was much whining... some of it from the little ones...

We have Daniel outfitted completely... nice slacks, shirt, shoes. Joshua is proving to be a budding metrosexual. "No, I don't want the blue shirt. Blue shirts are boring. EVERYONE wears blue shirts. I want something in a nice yellow or soft orange." :snooty:

I think we have him slacks and a belt. The shirt and shoes are still question marks. :headache:
