Stopping in to say hi, but I guess everyone's out doing Christmas Eve-ish type stuff! DH and DS12 have left for church already (rehearsal). Couldn't convince DS12 to wear the cute Christmas bow tie I had for him. He opted for a neutral sweater instead. Oh well - guess they're getting too old to dress anymore!

The rest of us will be heading out shortly! Have a great Christmas Eve and don't forget your cookies for Santa!

DM - I thought of you when I saw this wrapping paper!

wrappingpaper.jpg

I just had to throw in that I looked up this wrapping paper online at the site Sharon mentioned (thinkgeek.com) and found the item description to be almost as funny as the paper itself! It said:

After years of toiling and desperation, our engineers at ThinkGeek Gift Labs(TM) have finally invented something so unique and innovative, it perplexes even the brightest minds as to how global society might be impacted. We'll explain it to you but if your brain explodes, we warned you. You see, we have taken the flesh of a tree, mixed it up with some water and other patented goos. Then we took both some organic and inorganic pigments and dissolved them into a solvent. We took those pigments and applied them to the top of the modified tree flesh using very specific and highly intelligent patterns, and then coated everything with a nice protective finish made out of a special liquid that contains a low percentage of pigment and dries to a nice luster. We then folded these new creations and packaged four to a package and are selling them to you at a very affordable price so that you can turn around and use them to cover up things you want to gift to other people so that they might be surprised in a controlled manner. Sheer brilliance!

Hi Marcie - OMG - that's a hoot! I'm printing it out for DS and attaching it to his present!
Have a wonderful time tonight! Take a picture of your son playing the tuba and drums if that is tonight. Might be a piano night? sorry I can't remember. If I don't talk to you again before X-mas - Have a very Merry and Safe Holiday!
Sharon

And, lo, the angel of the Lord
came upon them...And the angel said
unto them, Fear not: for, behold,
I bring you good tidings of great joy
which shall be to all people.
For unto you is born this day
in the city of David a Saviour,
which is Christ the Lord.

Luke 2:9-11

Hi Penny!

Are you loving this weather? If the wind wasn't blowing so hard, it would be downright balmy!
Have a wonderful Holiday!

for me personally, since I was a small child and heard this, this is the true meaning of Christmas. I wish you all a Merry Christmas, however you celebrate, wherever you celebrate, and with whomever you celebrate it with.

Peace on Earth

Hope everyone has a lovely Christmas. We are home until Dec. 26th and then down to our NEW HOME IN SOUTH CAROLINA until the 30th. We decided it was time to support the US economy after all the wonderful times it has given us at USF (heehee). Actually, DH is retiring and we thought it was a great investment. Of course, it will only be a part time home, but it sure is neat!

Hopefully, when we return, I can devote some regular time back to the boards. I miss all you guys!!!

damo :thumbsup2 back in the USSA:banana: been humming that old beatles send up of the beach boys all day....balalikas ringing out:dance3:

enjoyed reading thru the thread & the lovely Christmas sentiments:goodvibes

remember the reason for the season (whatever it may be for you & yours); otherwise just sit thru 24 hours of the Christmas Story

Presents all wrapped & under the tree; even took youngest DS out to buy everyone gifts. Another procrastination story I'm afraid. He had stated he wasn't purchasing any this year. decided to bestow some :wizard: and picked up the tab & told him to save his dough after I saw he was buying Xbox 360 Halo for one brother & a PC game for Pa. Since he decided to open his near-depleted piggy bank amd be generous to others, I stepped in-think he finally gets it.popcorn::

2 batches of brownies went kaput, settled on making old standby pina cola cake for the shindig tonight. Shrimp platter is ready to go, all i need to do is figure out what to wear.

Hope the holidays are all you wish for & more, Merry Christmas!

For Gemma - Happy Christmas!;)

:rotfl: Good morning guys and gals and a Happy Christmas Eve to all!
We head over to my mom and step dads tonight for dinner and gift exchange with my sister and her family and my step sister and her husband. :goodvibes

I need to whip up some honey musturd turkey meatballs and some kielbasa with grape jelly and ketchup. sounds gross, but the guys like it. I'll be bringing over the cheese straws, venetian cookies and the white chocolate bark. Guess what my sister is bringing. Spinach balls. Thats all, just spinach balls. GRRR

I'm about 9 minutes from the mall on a good day and 12 on a bad day! I'll PM you my cell number. If you find yourself up this way, give me a call and we could grab lunch or a cup of coffee or just a quick hi!

Tracie Love the poem. Can you still drive the car?

I sprinkled some paprika on them to give them some color. They taste really good. I put the full amount of cayenne pepper. At first, I was like, hmmm, I can't really taste the pepper, but than you after you swallow the first bite, the heat kicks in. Good heat, not bad! Thanks for sharing the recipe!

Ok, the tagger would bug me to no end! :rotfl:
My DH uses the word "broke" in the wrong tense. I would say, "Be careful, that glass is broken". He would say "Be careful, that glass is broke." Bugs me, but I know he's not going to change, so I don't nag him about it, more important things to nag about, right?!? :lmao: :lmao:

I love the goofy things that family's do! When my sister and I were kids, we would go with mom to visit her father in the nursing home. On the way, there was this store with a large indian statue out front (Penny, you might have seen it, its on Rt 1 in Yarmouth). Mom would always say "Say hi to Chief Mug A Mug!". And we would shout out hi Chief. Kinda stupid, but we thought it was funny. I continued it with my kids. Mom still gets a kick out of it if I tell her we drove by and said hi. (Sorry if I offended anyone with the Chief Mug a Mug)

I have a walk-in closet. When we build the house DH installed that wire shelving. I pretty much hated it since day one. It leaves lines in my sweaters. So a few years ago for my birthday, DH tore out the wire shelving and built wooden shelves out of cherry. OMG it's so wonderful! I had a better idea this time around about far apart I wanted the shelves etc...He still has the wire shelving. :rotfl:

Gemma, what does your family eat for Christmas dinner?
I wonder what the girlfriends parents think about your brother joining the family vacation?!?

Happy Christmas to you too Keisha- and to the rest of the homies of course!!:cutie:

Penny - That has always been what I think of at Christmas too. It stuck from the Charlie Brown Christmas special and never left. :goodvibes

The kids are bouncing off the walls. We're watching the NORAD Santa tracker. http://www.noradsanta.org/en/home.htm

I'll have to strap them into bed soon. Wish me luck. :scared:

I just wanted to jump on to say

I totally agree Penny. When you all finally get your Christmas cards from us (that by the way were mailed today)you will see that the Charlie Brown story was our theme this year.

So to all of my buddies in the box I hope you have a special time no matter how you choose to celebrate. You guys are like family to me. Love you all!

Oh and Ally says thanks for the birthday wishes. I will catch up hopefully sometime tomorrow evening.

Morning folks...hope everyone got what they wanted.

I got some good news/bad news last night.

Good news: My cousin's family...who I have not seen in three years...is coming to Orlando this weekend. :woohoo:

Bad news: They want to meet at the Magic Kingdom Saturday afternoon.

I can't believe I'm going to get caught up in all those people! :sad2:

It will be great to see them so I guess it's worth it...especially for the kids since it's their first time in Florida. :thumbsup2

Happy Solstice/Yule/Hanukkah/Christmas/Drunken Monkey Day/whatever.

I GOT MEAD! Apparently it was Hard To Find, but what can you expect? It is the Drink of the Gods. :p

I got other good swag as well, but that was the coolest of all.

My fingers are so freakin sore.

WHO CAME UP WITH THE WHOLE IDEA TO TWISTY TIE EVERY DAMN TOY 10,000 TIMES TO THE BOX?

There should be a special room in Hades for the people that stole toys out of the box and made them necessary... and the inventor of the concept should have a room right next door.

I'm just saying...
