I haven't been here in a few days, have been without power since Saturday, the generator is powering our fridge, pellet stove, TV, some lights, and now my laptop. I didn't have cel service until a few hours ago, which is how I'm online now, with Verizon Wireless. The thing that sucks the most is that less than a mile in each direction, houses have power!!! I live in the country, but it seems that just the 6 house on our road are without power. Anyway, not sure where this thread is at, sorry if I interrupted or cut in, I just wanted to rant about not having power

It's been 2 days, I can't imagine what it was like for Lori. Though I did have this happen 8 years ago, for 5 days, but that was in the summer, much easier to deal with!

I'm going to ATTEMPT to catch up !

Really quick checkin before I hit the sack. Long day today.

First, I did break down and take Daniel to the doctor this afternoon. His fever would spike and then come down with Tylenol or Motrin (I had begun to switch off), but it was still high. The doctor told me that he has pneumonia in his right lung and put him on Azithromycin for the next 5 days. Sigh.

Next, I just have to share the funny that Joshua hit me with tonight...

I was in the kitchen baking blueberry muffins. Joshua's class is having a Christmas Brunch tomorrow, so that is what he asked me to make. Joshua was trying to help Daniel feel better, so he made up a "contest" where he said, "Whoever plays with me gets a prize." Then he tossed Daniel a little ball and when Daniel tossed it back he yelled, "Yeah! You played with me. You get a prize!" He then ran into the kitchen to ask for a prize to give Daniel. I handed him a sugar cookie and off he went.

Well, apparently he decided that the cookie looked pretty good because then I hear him shout, "If I play with myself I get a prize!" :lmao:

I want HUGE parenting bonus points for not laughing at him. I did not flinch or change my facial expression AT ALL when he ran back into the kitchen to say, "I played with myself, so I'm here for my prize!" I simply handed him the cookie and went back to making my muffins.

I may have done damage to an internal organ holding the laughter in. Oh, my. Out of the mouths of babes... :rotfl:

Jodie...whenever you guys are coming down for HHN, let me know. I'll do the RIP Tour with you.

.

Can I come too?? :) I am pretty sure I can talk my better half into the rip tour after hearing so many good things about it here. We'll be in Orlando from 10-17 to 10-26. We already have our timeshare booked for the 1st 7 days, and am booking the last 3 days at HRH after Christmas.

Sure Mike...not sure if I can swing too many RIP Tours but we can hang out a bit beforehand. Just keep reminding me.

After skimming through the past 12 pages, I see most of you guys are doing the RIP tour earlier in the month.
So........... there is always Finnegan's, my favorite pre-HHN hangout :thumbsup2

Well before I reply to anyone else I have to say this:

GEMMA DON'T YOU EVER DO THAT TO US AGAIN! I WAS WORRIED SICK ABOUT YOU. :guilty: I AM SO HAPPY YOU HAVE RETURNED TO LET US KNOW YOU ARE STILL ALIVE.:flower3:

Oh Mike I am so sorry you are going through it now. I hope they get your power back on soon.

gemma, you can tell which group of worry-ers lori was in.
you should listen to her

i am beginning to think that all people 21 and under don't understand the word "worry".............

mike, i'm sorry you are without power and having to rough it.
it is definitely not fun being deprived of power, especially the computer, fridge, lights, heat, etc.......which you are aware of.

but, it is great you have some power with the generator and can come play with us.

i always like to count noses and see who is here and who has weather woes.
i'm counting your nose right now.

tricia, your kids say the cutest things.
do i get a cookie if i play by myself too?

Barb, Bubba looks so sweet sitting there with Santa! (my kids wouldn't have their pic with Santa anymore!) I guess he hasn't been corrupted by the older kids telling him that Santa's not real, has he? Some kids.....

Nope...not corrupted yet :rotfl: I have been hinting and asking and I am convinced he still does believe....

mailing out the 2 nephew and 1 niece card with the money. i have more than 30 nieces and nephews, but my sister behind me, she is number 8, i am number 7 and brother is number 6, well they had kids when everyone else's kids had kids(confused yet) so, i just give to them. they are 13, 11 and 9.
i was giving 5.00 for the card but good old auntie upted it to 10. be forewarned auntie is nice for b-days and x-mas and valentines day and easter, so i think 10 is okay.
and, all threr are my god children. they are the only ones.
of couse , i insisted when my sis got preggers and called me 13+ years ago and i said, I AM THE GODMOTHER OF ANY CHILDREN YOU HAVE. she had 2 boys . bro's wife had 1 girl, and they asked me. (how sweet) was kinda shocked at that one)

You's a good aunt Penny.... :thumbsup2 Their fav I'm sure :grouphug:

3 hours later & i've got 1 car door open/unfrozen...seems like yesterday it was 90 degrees and the water was crystal blue:sad:

everybody sing:

chestnuts roasting on an open car fire;
bubba's sitting on dear Santa's lap;
marci's falling down a hill with no heed;
and mac hasn't found a Christmas tree...

everybody knows -
you just have kids to shovel snow;
inflatable decorations really blow;
gift exchanges and cookies to bake
we all won't sleep again 'till '08:dance3:

Love the song....another career in the making? :scratchin

I saw my neighbor across the street last week trying to open her car door....altho it's a shame, it is funny as all get out to watch!

lori post a pic of the card too!

I will try to get it posted online tonight or tomorrow but I would love to send one to everyone snail mail. Would make DH feel good, since I never send any out myself.

And that song is FABULOUS!

I love the castle. It's my all time favorite.

Also, it is downright cold here, which I love! At 10:45, it's 43 degrees...my kind of weather.

I love that castle too. Wish I could be there to see it in person this year.

Eagles won (yay); some really bad non calls in the game, but all in all it was a really interesting game. As Westbrook was running the ball at the end, Jim shouted "FALL, STOP, TAKE A KNEE!!" as he said that, Westbrook slid to a stop inside the 1.....pretty freaky!!!! We are 6 points behind in the playoff game for Fantasy Football - need Bernard Berrian to get 7 points or better tonight - Go Bears!!!

Got a letter from my doc, I went in for blood work in November for the thyroid thing. I have to go in and see the doctor at 9AM tomorrow....apparently, the meds aren't working too well and I now have a significantly high Cholesterol level :confused3 We shall see!!

Christmas prep is going......we will be ready come the big day!!! (no worries Barb)

Good luck with your fantasy football tonight.

Hope all is well with the doc tomorrow.

I did a very little bit of shopping today. Will be going tomorrow & Wednesday all day to hopefully get everything done.

but i did vacuum this morning so i can now get a tree....in my free time

Yippee, you can get a tree if you ever have some free time.

once the holidays are over and school is on break, i'll have more time to play here....

i read to keep up but don't get to post as much as i want to.

Same here. Just don't have time to catch up. The kids are out of school from the 24th - 4th. They were suposed to return on the 7th but there is now a staff development day scheduled for that day. So, officially their last day is the 21st of December and they will not return to school until January 8th!:scared1: Guess I'm going to have a lot of time to be sitting around the house. Maybe I will be able to stay caught up then

i'm so excited:banana:

after 4 years of trying, youngest DS finally qualifed for National Academic Games...to be held in sunny Orlando this spring:teacher: , in the same game i qualified in almost 40 years ago:eek: i am a dinosaur. Skool district flew us down, all expenses paid...now it's via a 20+ hour ride on a bus & we pay for it.

ps they're supposed to visit either wonderworks or universal...guess which one he's voting for lol?

Congrats to the DS. Are you going to go down with him? I just can't imagine which place he wants to go!:rotfl:

Also wanted to share that our son, Josh, had a solo this past weekend in our church's Christmas program. He sang Rudolph. I think he might be a performer in the making. Just give him a microphone and he's good to go! I'm glad he doesn't seem to be afraid of singing/speaking in front of a crowd. My knees go all wobbly when I have to do that!!

Anyway, good luck to everyone on all their final shopping, wrapping, etc. I still have plenty to do myself!!

Melissa

Congrats to Josh!

Good luck with the shopping.

VERY windy here today. Went out to warm up the car to take the girls to school, my recycling container had blown over so had alot of bottles and cans to clean up....

Glad that wind died down....it was nasty! I thought there were some questionable calls in that game too....but, yeah...Westbk was told to take a knee at the 1 yardline....he didn't want to, but did it for the 'team' :goodvibes You probably need a higher dose of the thyroid meds.... i remember when DH was diagnosed with underactive thyroid...he took meds for 2 months....had blood checked and doctor asked him if he took the meds....he said he did...doc said didn't do anything! :rotfl: He doubled the dose, upped it one more time and we're good to go :thumbsup2 Holdin' steady ever since...... (funny he has to take this pill everyday for the rest of his life.... he doesn't even like taking advil or vitamins :rotfl2: ....oh well.... I'm sure the cholesterol will be fine...good to see the doc tho...he'll fix ya right up :thumbsup2

back from one doc appointment, off for another soon and then errands.

but i did vacuum this morning so i can now get a tree....in my free time

How'd your appts go??? How's the tree look?? :confused3

Hey Melissa....way to go Josh :woohoo: Good he doesn't get nervous speaking in front of people like that....either that, or he hasn't figured out to be scared yet
Good to see ya around....we had been posting pix of our trees...if you'd care to join in :rolleyes1

Glad you finally got your box. How many still have not received theirs?

Im sorry I worried you...but I blame the stoopid woman who turned her wireless off! Doesnt she know that cheap students needed that!?

Hi Penny! Yes Im back in Bangor for Christmas. Nice to be home but my dog is ill...she had an operation on Friday to remove a tumour from her tummy and we will find out on Wed if its benign...or not. I didn't find out until I got home yesterday....was out on Saturday with the girls and mum didn't want to tell me and ruin my night which was fair enough.

I didnt have any exams...just 3 pieces of coursework. Got 2 exams in Jan though which I am dreading!

I've been really good. Loving 2nd year at uni much more than 1st year!

Can't wait for christmas!!

Let me have a talk with that woman. I will let her know just how much she caused all of us to worry.

Hope your puppy is okay. Good luck with the exams when you get back to school.

Really quick checkin before I hit the sack. Long day today.

I may have done damage to an internal organ holding the laughter in. Oh, my. Out of the mouths of babes... :rotfl:

Ally just finished that same medicine yesterday. She had been having the tickle cough for a while and last week it turned nasty. I knew she was on the verge of something bad. He hadn't had the mucinex by any chance had he?

And Joshua is just to cute. That boy is always coming up with something.

gemma, you can tell which group of worry-ers lori was in.
you should listen to her

i am beginning to think that all people 21 and under don't understand the word "worry".............

I think you are correct.

Hi guys - stopping in briefly! Still no ornament, but Mac PM'd me to let me know she heard a rumor it was coming! Another busy day at work today in which I worked the entire day. This doesn't bother me - working at work is fine. Pretending to be working or doing "busy work" bothers me!

Did get very annoyed with DS14 though today. He had his first runthrough of the musical after school today. He had no idea of when it was over. I told him based on the other kids' schedules and the fact that DH was out of town, that I could either pick him up at 5:00 or 6:30 and he'd have to work around those.

So he found out rehearsal was until 5:30. What should he have done? I'm thinking either option A: ask to leave a half hour early. Or option B: wait around afterwards and do homework, etc. Well, he went for option C: tell the director he couldn't come because he didn't have a ride home. And then come home after school and hang out. :confused3

Then when I called him and found out he was home and yelled at him (it was probably 3:30 at this time), I told him to bike back to school and he could a least be there for the last hour of rehearsal and I'd pick him up. And he blew me off and didn't go. So now he's working on a letter of apology to the teacher/director and in BIG trouble overall!

Talk to you guys later! Great to hear from you Gemma and Tricia - I loved your story! Enjoy them now and eat a cookie for me!

do any of you eat Penuche fudge?

:confused3 i eat vanilla....what's 'penuche'???

Im sorry I worried you...but I blame the stoopid woman who turned her wireless off! Doesnt she know that cheap students needed that!?

:lmao:

How long you home for??? When will you "disappear" again :(

I haven't been here in a few days, have been without power since Saturday, the generator is powering our fridge, pellet stove, TV, some lights, and now my laptop. Hey Mike...sorry to hear you were w/o power...ya coulda came here ;) We lost power Sunday morning at like 5am for about 20 minutes...that was it..... You're right...easier to deal with in the summer.... Then again, in the winter, you can put yer frozen food outside and not worry about it thawing :rotfl2:

Mommy of the Year award...right here...to Miss Tricia  What a great story!!! What a good brother trying to make Daniel feel better too....guess with Daniel under the weather, things are kinda quiet at your house, huh??? AND, since you were baking, does that mean YOUR tummy is feeling better??

That's cool. I'll be getting a FF pass again next year and will go often. Just let me know the dates when we get closer.

It's a (boy) date ;)

:rolleyes1

i am beginning to think that all people 21 and under don't understand the word "worry".............

No....not ALL people....single, childless people

do i get a cookie if i play by myself too?

TAG! :confused3

That is quite the break.... We have early dismissal Friday, off next week and go back Jan 2nd..... then again, we had off today too :headache:

Hi guys - stopping in briefly! Still no ornament, but Mac PM'd me to let me know she heard a rumor it was coming!

Thank goodness! I hope it comes soon....before you explode!! (Ya know...they say they save the best for last :rolleyes1 )

Did get very annoyed with DS14 though today. He had his first runthrough of the musical after school today. He had no idea of when it was over. Ah yes.....teenagers..... (can't wait  ) Hope this wasn't first practice....guess he's not motivated cuz it's not a lead part :confused3 Or maybe he just didn't "feel like" going??? I'm sure you straightened him out tho :scared:

I called the skool today....apparently there are a lot of people without power and trees down across the roads...making the bus routes impossible to travel on. So...that is why we didn't have skool today....I must live in a box...I had NO idea :confused3

Before i turn in.....Mommy-brag.... (sorry :rolleyes1 )

2nd to last soccer game of the session tonight..... This was the second time we played this team....They were the first team we played when the season started and we tied 4-4. Well....we won tonite 4-3.... (even tho they scored their last goal pretty late in the game :scared1: ).... Anyhow...that makes us undefeated with 1 game left...and that is against the only team without a win this season.... (prolly just jinxed us by saying that and we'll lose big time :sad2: ) They have playoffs and championship games scheduled for Jan 7th...so, we'll see how goes....

EXETER EAGLES undefeated (thus far) :cheer2:  :cheer2:

Okay....thanks for listening to my brag.....off to make DH lunch and to bed..... been up all day it seems

Hello to everyone I didn't address personally.......

(LOOKIT that ticker :scared1:  :scared1: )

Nite nite all!!!
