still feeling crappy

tricia - :woohoo: fantatic rate

st larry - onsite, offsite...it's all good!

barb - ur salon needs signs posted prominently (that what they did @ mine & it cut things down dramatically). unbelieveably bad service re the soccer issue. only water my youngest drinks is what splashes in during a shower; it's juice or soda for him. We go thru gallons of calcium OJ each week (doesn't drink milk either)

jennifer - does your workload increase dramatically during tax season or are u corporate/auditor. Used to work for PNB/PNC commercial real estate...dreaded the series of auditors (client, fed, in-house) who'd come for week-long visits every year...the random/unannounced ones were the worst:eek:

mac i tend to eat less in FLA, not sure if it's because of the heat or that i'm having so much fun i don't want to take a break...except when on the DP @ WDW. Not sure if i'm even going to book it this year since we'll be day guests @ U at least 1 or 2 days & they're sticking it to the servers big tim:sad2:

bonnie - u look great, the glasses suit you! as homer would say, they make u look smrt:banana:

off to look for the rest of my nanner

have a good one

Actually, the ones we wear are called "shellaclavas" - they have the double fleece part around your neck and face, but a more stretchy, lycra part that goes over your head and under your helmet:

shellaclava.jpg

So now I know you're all wondering:

HOW COLD WAS IT?

IT WAS SO COLD THAT:

1. The highest reading I saw on any thermometer while driving in the car to and home from the ski place was NOT a positive number. ;)

2. Both the sliding doors on our minivan froze and we had to have everyone climb in through the front door and climb back. :scared1:

3. If you didn't know, elastic loses it's elasticity when it gets too cold. The elastic bands we had on our visors in the car that were holding maps and other papers stretched down about two inches and everything fell out from them. Once the car warmed back up, they tightened up again!

4. The ski resort we were at didn't operate one of their main lifts because "it was a 10 minute trip up the mountain and the ski patrol was not equipped to treat the number of cases of frostbite they'd end up with!"

5. (TMI ahead warning!!) When wearing your shellaclavas, they rest right under your nose. When it is this cold, your nose tends to run a little. And then the, um, "moisture" immediately freezes to the shellaclava. So then when you slide your face mask part down a little bit, it RIPS your nose hairs (that are frozen to it now!) out of your nose!

6. We were going to do ski racing today. They ended up having to cancel it because the batteries in the timing system exploded in the cold and they were unable to repair it even with new batteries.

7. We left some water bottles in the car and they froze and cracked the plastic bottles. We also had cans of pop in the hotel room (out loose, warm). We put them in the car when we packed it at 10am this morning, and by the time we ate lunch at 11:45, they were already slushy!

8. Our ski rack on the car froze shut and DH had to use a cigarette lighter to heat it up and unlock it.

9. When we got home we decided to go out in our hot tub. It took a good 10 minutes (in bathing suits in -7 degree weather!) to chip the ice off around the cover that had frozen when the steam oozing out the edges froze over!

Okay - so in conclusion it was just a TAD bit too cold to be out skiing today! However, I did complain to the ski resort that they had half the resort closed due to the lifts being closed and that racing was cancelled so they gave us free vouchers to come back!

Thought I better stop in and holler at da homies. . . .

COPS is on Fox in like 1 minute, so I have to hurry. Things are ok - keeping it real - getting ready to have dinner and watch some tube.

DH cooked grilled chicken and steamed veggies for din din - some giant, yummy green grapes too! :thumbsup2

Hope you all have a wonderful evening. I might be back later. . . . I'm betting I'll see Mac's green lite around midnight. . . and, oh yeah Mac, tonight could you eat some pizza for me?? I love pepperoni, green pepper, mushroom and garlic. :worship:

I'm like Homer with a donut!

bonnie looks skinny to me. that's the first thing i noticed.......
(didn't even notice the glasses..............jk)

homie, you look great in glasses.
makes you look like a kid again..

Thank you!! But there is a reason it is not a full-body shot! :rotfl: I have like 80 more pounds to lose!

bonnie - u look great, the glasses suit you! as homer would say, they make u look smrt:banana:

Thank you...I FEEL smarter! :lmao:

Okay.....rant #1.......

People!!! When you bring your small, bratty children into the salon and they are not currently being serviced, please put a lease on them!!!! You obviously cannot keep an eye on them, so tie them down!!! I do NOT need them rooting thru my cart where I keep many shears (scissors) , razors, pins and various sharp things that can harm your children! God forbid a child cuts themselves with something of mine and then you blame ME
9.gif

I also do NOT appreciate your child using my neckbrush to clean the dirty, hairy floor either!
9.gif

And, I most certainly do NOT by ANY means appreciate your child scraping the floor with my $350 shears!!!

So, please, CONTROL your children and if you cannot, I will jack your price up for your cuts SO high, you WILL look for another stylist to torture!!!

Thank you!

OK, Barb, I feel this. I stopped going to my regular manicurist because she had a client who brought her helions of children with her to her appointment. My appt. was right after hers, and her appt. always ran late. Manicurist tried to tell her that her kids were a problem, but lady had nothing else to do with her demon spawn and said that manicures were the only thing she did for herself so she didn't know what else to do. I explained that I could not handle that (we all know I do not have kids for a reason), and my appointment was moved at first, but it was not at a convenient time for me, and well, it didn't work out. Now, I go somewhere else, and told manicurist to call me when she loses that client.

And, oh, PS: This lady had a SERIOUS problem. OK, fine, I get that manicures are the only thing you do for yourself. I do. Honest. But, she went every 2 weeks, which depending on the month turned out to be $40-60/month. Fine, if you can afford it. But I vividly remember one time her saying that she had done some Christmas shopping, and the kids were only getting things they really needed that year like packages of underwear and toothbrushes. She couldn't afford Christmas, but she can spend $40-60 each month of the year on manicures? You get 2 to 3 manicures a month, and your children get toothbrushes for Christmas. Yes, I know. I'm judging.

And, oh, I really am not sure why my bro told us not to ask AK about JD. In fact, when my brother had "mandatory karaoke," yes mandatory, my cousin wanted to sing "Country Roads." (Cousin went to WVU.) All JD songs were removed from the playlist (and it was a fairly old and comprehensive list.) Cousin asked "Where's JD? " He didn't even know AK was his daughter, and my mom asked him not to sing it. Wasn't on the list anyway so a moot point. Not sure. All I know is that AK and hubby Jamie run a B&B somewhere in New Zealand now. Bro and SIL went to NZ for their honeymoon.

Oh, and you asked me why I block siggies one time. I do that and block smilies and block avatars too. I also use the "DISCREET" setting. Makes the DIS a little less conspicuous to read at work, and then I forget to turn all that back on when I'm at home. Derp!

Mac, yes, I remember that night. It totally sucked: we wound up ordering room service from the HRH, and that was probably the worst food we'd ever had! Horrible. I waste of $20 and 487 calories! I am thinking of moving our HHN dates from 10/2-10/7 to 10/9 - 10/14, if Mike can swing that weekend off with his new job. Not sure about that yet. I think you mentioned that if you go, that is usually the weekend you go. I'll talk more about it later with you. RIP PART DEUX!

Marcie, I got a kick out of your Baklava/Balaclava explanation. Sorry it was too cold to go skiing. Hope when you use your free vouchers to go back, it's a bit warmer and everything is open!

Janet, so sorry you're still feeling the ickies! Wrap yourself in a blanket and grap some tea (or a shot of bourbon)!

Jennifer, so hubby lounged while you worked, eh? Life was hard for him today!

MF 16 pounds, woot! Way to go!!!

Happy Birthday to Mr. Tricia! Woo-hoo! I work with folks in GA and they were worried about the snow forecast. Glad to hear it didn't amount to much!

Hi Toot Sweet. Missed your big welcome! Like your new glasses. I get a kick out of your screenname. When we were little, my parents called a fart a "toot." I can't imagine a fart being sweet! :lmao:

St. Lawrence, sorry you're going to stay off-site and reduce your vacay time, but as you said, at least you're still going! :thumbsup2 With a little planning, you won't need FOTL anyway!

Sharon, sorry son lost his game. :(

Alison, I feel your pain. I often need Cliff Notes too. I haven't even finished catching up, but it's time for me to get my fat butt to work!

Catch ya's later. xx

I know, same here! Toot Sweet is actually my DD's nick name. She was a gassy baby. :)

Hey Homies!
Just poppin' in for a minute. I'm starting my planning for my trip. I'm gonna post a thread in a little bit to see if anyone has the 411 on Universal 360 and the water show at IOA for this summer. I still can't get "ketchuped"...Mac I don't remember where I left off before my last visit....It's just too difficult. I guess I may not ketchup, but I'll try to pop in from time to time...just forgive me if I don't know everything that's going on with all of you. You know I luvs all of ya...You're my homies!

I know, same here! Toot Sweet is actually my DD's nick name. She was a gassy baby. :)

I called both of mine "tooter muffin". "Muffin" stuck with my younger DS. He gets mad if anyone besides me calls him "Muffin."

I went to a German restaurant tonight. It's the one I went to last year that was DIVINE!

Local restaurants FTW!

3. If you didn't know, elastic loses it's elasticity when it gets too cold.
No, I did not know. Gee, if it gets too cold here, I hope my undies don't fall down!

I am in the lovely world of public accounting where we get to do everything. We audit the corporate banking world from October to mid-February. We stay about a week in the fall and then go back for a week in Jan/Feb to complete. Then about mid-February we get to do tax returns until April 15. From April 16 to about September 30, most of the staff work a fairly normal 40-hour work week.

my cousin wanted to sing "Country Roads." (Cousin went to WVU
  West Virginia Loves  John Denver and Country Roads. It has become one of our official state songs. But it is the overall favorite. In fact, now after every WVU football game, the fans sing "Country Roads" before leaving the stadium.

(we all know I do not have kids for a reason),
Would this be because the "cat children" take all of your disposable income? Or because if you had kids, we couldn't call you a "DINK"? Then you would just be plain old Married With Children. Wait, Peg Bundy still had time for her manicures.:lmao:

Our big snow storm fizzled. Yeah, sure, it did snow all day... BUT the temp stayed around 33 degrees, so there was almost no accumulation. Temperatures are dropping NOW, but the precipitation has stopped. So much for all those fun sounding predictions.

come live in the midwest tricia.......you will know what cold is.
right now it is minus 3 with a real feel/wc of minus 22.
but, it can snow when it gets cold........dropping below freezing.

you dress to stay warm when skiing then strip down to the skivies practically to go outside in fridge temps to be in a hot tub.
i don't get it......:confused3

Baklava,
Balaclava

they both start with a B and have a lot of letters.
same diff..................... jk

Thank you!! But there is a reason it is not a full-body shot! :rotfl: I have like 80 more pounds to lose!

that's my story and i'm sticking to it.!!

you look thin.
wish i looked as good as you do.

but you have the little girl look about you with the glasses on. so cute.

i am 98% sure i will be at hrh oct 9-13
i need to check with mr mac on when he has to be in philadelphia that month before i can book. i keep asking when his trip is scheduled and he asks why do i need to know.....i will just check his black berry and find out myself when he goes skiing tomorrow.

i never tell mr mac my plans until the last minute.
he screams a lot and pouts for a few days. if i tell him now, it will be a long way off till the trip.
if i tell him way after labor day, i can handle his ways for a few weeks.

this year i am cutting back from my 15 day solo vacations.
probably will only do 13 or 14 this year.
i really really truly want to be at UO when you and mike go.
we need to do another RIP.........i'll hold your hand this time for all of the houses now that i know you better....

I know, same here! Toot Sweet is actually my DD's nick name. She was a gassy baby. :)

i'll get some cliff notes together for you and jodie.

but tonight, i am going to try to go to bed in about 3 minutes from now.
people are asleep except for one son and i think i can catch a good 4 hours of shut eye tonight.

if not, i'll be back.......
.......think of the terminator when you read that..

Hi everyone!!

Wanted to check in before Mac comes after me :scared:

Still under the weather so wasn't really around that much. Watched my bro's final home swim meet of his swimming career. Sad, yes, but he's happy its almost over!

And I will start looking for designs to shave into his head for the last time!! I'll explain to anyone who doesn't' understand later.

Have a great nite all as I drift off with my NyQuil :cloud9:

DW found a sponge bob mug from universal(the one with handle and the straw bends and fits in both ends of top) just don't know if it was the refill type and one of the sponge bob cups that you can blow bubles from.....know I am not packing that thing when we go this year.
Also a popcorn bucket.

eh....just buy a NEW one! :thumbsup2
Make it something you collect each trip :goodvibes

As the self-appointed treasuer of this thread, our budget thanks you. Always good to BOGO!:cool1:

Thanks.... i try :flower3:

But what I want to know is - will my refill mug from Walmart work at the Grand Floridian? And - will it rain and be crowded in July?

Absolutely!

:rotfl:

Hey, there, friends! How are all the homies?
I have had a cold lately and I ain't been good company. I hope I don't send you my cyber-germs!

I got GLASSES!! First time in my life. Just picked them up yesterday. Feel free to mock me now, and call me "four-eyes!"

chattergift003-2.jpg

Hey Bonnie.... I've never seen you withOUT the glasses, but I think you look good. No four eye comments here :sad2: Ya look sophisticated to me :thumbsup2 I hope yer cold gets better soon... I heard on the news this morning, the 'average' adult gets 2-4 colds a season...who they kiddin'?? They obviously don't know about the homies on the SAN thread :confused3 :rotfl2:

Our big snow storm fizzled. Yeah, sure, it did snow all day... BUT the temp stayed around 33 degrees, so there was almost no accumulation. Temperatures are dropping NOW, but the precipitation has stopped. So much for all those fun sounding predictions.

Oh... I'm SO sad you don't get to enjoy your snow..... OR shovel :headache:

The boys are hopped up on sugar. Brad got a giant cookie for his birthday. Cookie with chocolate chips AND frosting. Oh, yeah. Young boys bouncing off walls. Can you hear them?

sorry still not up to banana-par  Another day on the sofa for you

Posting signs in salon will not help....it's a very small salon I work at....and I mean very small .... Problem is, the mother (an old friend of mine) is simply a bad mother and has NO control over her 8.5 yr old daughter....the kid is a BRAT!!!! I wish signage would help, but it won't. The lady I work for even offered to post signs about not having children unattended, but she comes herself (her DH is anti-social and will NOT come along to help) and i cut her and her DD and her DS....so, I'm screwed. The last time they came in, the DD went to (i think) adjust the volume on the little tv we have there, and threw it into 'demo' mode :headache: (which, we didn't know at the time!) We couldn't figure out what was wrong with it (DH did that when I brought it home) let alone how to fix it:headache: (And, lemme tell ya, when I say 'demo' mode, i mean, it would not shut off [had to unplug it to turn it off], put itself on sleep timer-go off-then back on again, change languages, etc....while very funny, very frustrating! )DH looked up online how to get it out of demo mode and what we think the little brat did was push the volume up & down button at the same time instead of just volume up or down... So, now there is a piece of heavy cardstock taped across the front of the controls that says "Please Do Not Touch" :snooty: That fixed her! :lmao: MOF, when they arrived last nite, her Mom pointed it out to her and said "See that? That's for you!" :lmao: I never said my friend was stupid, just a bad mother!

I'm with you....I actually 'forget' to eat on vacation at UO..... guess I'm so absorbed in my surroundings and what I'm doin' next, I forget..... oh well...the boys remind me......

I hope you fix yer poor nana soon......he don't look good! (Here's a tip...put the 'bug' at the very end of your sig....that way he crawls 'off screen' and back on without takin up too much room!)

janet, feel better real soon.

As for the February Hallmark&Hershey Holiday, it'll have to be celebrated early. I already picked an Item that has various Symbolisms. :3dglasses
