Do you remember me telling you about how James had of school the other day because some kids piled up snow in front of all the entrances?
Well, the 3 kids have confessed. 5 days suspension, community service and reimbursing the town for the locks that were broken trying to unfreeze them.
One of the kids posted some photos of himself and his buddies doing the dirty deed on facebook.

All I can say is DUH! Still, it was a good prank! Think the school overrreacted a little, but I guess they had to or kids would do it each time it snowed for the next several years!

We stayed Canadian side too.....forget where tho...will have to look it up. Dontcha need passports to drive over the border? ...or not yet?? (Not up to par with Canadian regulations regarding passports)

I can't keep track of if/when the passport regs changed. Thought it was early 2008 but they were delaying it now because the agency couldn't get enough passports out? Thought 2009 now or something? We've had passports for years because we drove through Canada a lot (and camped there), so it made it easier to just hand them 5 passports and avoid the hassle. Whenever we went to Niagara Falls, we had to drive through Canada to get there and it was easier to avoid crossing another border into NY. But assuming Tracie's coming from the NY side, it would probably be easier just to avoid the hassle of the crossing.

Well, I just wanted to put in a word for my GOOD Mommy! I guess I'm one of those rare few who'd love to turn into my mom! Having to move away from her 18 months ago (after living nearby for the previous 12 years) was the hardest thing we've done. At least the kids got to spend lots of time with her when they were little. We still keep in touch as much as possible, but visiting twice a year is a whole lot different than twice a week!

got mac & marci's weather last night, lost our power for awhile (good thing i'm an insomniac lol & my arbor went airborne into the street. Waiting to take a final survey once it gets abit lighter and the wind dies down.

I went out walking and the inches of rain we got over the past few days has now solidified into nice sheets of ice! I'm pretty sure we never broke 40 but we had SO much rain. Last night I had to drive 20 minutes home from work to drive the same 20 minutes back to take DS to soccer. This was at 5pm and the rain was switching over to sleet, snow and ice. Just all kinds of fun during rush hour in the dark. I can't believe how much rain we had though - just bizarre at this time of year!

Principal Skinner? Okay, I admit it, I had to google it to figure out the Simpsons. Sure my kids would know instantly!

Anyway, it's a shame that some people scream sexual harrassment/misconduct so often these days. It makes it hard for the genuine cases to be taken seriously. It's like playing the race card. It is done so often now and for the most ridiculous reasons. That's a shame for the people who really have grounds for a complaint. It sounds like the only grounds your coworker is standing on is the "lack of a sense of humor and looking for problems" grounds.

I agree totally with all of this. If I didn't say, also Tricia - good luck today! Hope things go great for Carol. Do you know what time surgery is yet? Are you heading over? We'll keep you (and her) in our prayers!

Wwessing, (I don't know your first name), that's great that you've lost 8 lbs. already! I tried Alli over the summer and I didn't use it very long, but the diet is really a good one. My DH and I both were losing, although we were quite naughty from Thanksgiving to New Years and gained it back......we've got to get back into the groove and start eating right again. The diet isn't really that hard, it's just really eating healthy and we've been eating too many sweets and fried foods to even consider taking Alli right now. While I was taking Alli, I never had any of the "treatment effects" because I was so afraid to cheat on the diet!

My name is Wendy (and I was appropriately named!) I've found that there is alot of controversy surrounding Alli now. Many are apparently complaining that Alli caused those horrific "treatment effects" you are clearly warned about before starting the program. I watched segment on one of the morning shows today and there was a girl who was about 100 lbs overweight and said she was taking Alli, making good progress then about 4 weeks into her program began losing control of her bowels. I've only been using Alli for 8 days, but I'm super, uber cautious because I don't want any of those treatment effects. As of this morning, I have lost 9 lbs. and am not yet working an exercise program (my personal trainer, who happens to be my nephew, says 25 pounds, then I have to get busy). We will see what happens, and I will keep reporting in, but I think you have to stay 100% committed. When they say watch your fat intake, they mean WATCH YOUR FAT INTAKE AT ALL TIMES. You must remain diligent. Alli is just an aid to weight loss. . . it's to encourage you to make good choices and the side effects are supposted to be a deterent to bad choices. It's not a problem with the drug, it's a problem with eating habits. I'm not going to get a few weeks into my new life and start with old, bad habits. I don't plan to carry a change of clothing with me all the time. I sure hope I don't start seeing those effects in 4 or 5 weeks because I love Alli and what is has helped me do so far. I know that this drug is mostly effective for only about 6 months, then you are on your own. By that time, I hope to be well established in my new habits, have an established exercise program and won't need Alli as a crutch anymore.

I slept very soundly and feel great today.

I know that my kids have been treated better than I was. They tell me all the time they don't know how I survived. It's pretty bad when your grandson, at 14, asks why his grandmother doesn't like him because she has never had anything to do with him and is always hateful. She doens't even realize she does it.

She is going to end up very lonely some day. Sad thing is that now that she and dad are back together that I have to deal with her more often or not see dad.

Bubba's soccer (2nd session) starts next week....so, starting with a clean slate!! AND his clinics start next Saturday (19th), so he'll get some formal training in goalkeeping......ANY he gets is better than the NONE he's gotten thus far.....

So, I thought today would start off good...boy was i WRONG!!!! While getting ready for skool, come to find out, I thought Bubba had a head injury yesterday.....long story short, 2 conversations with the nurse at skool today and a trip to the doctor, he's fine....of course...doctor needed $15 to tell me that...duh....I already knew that..... and...(good news)was working 'mummydust with SW air'.... 'nother story for 'nother time.....

Gotta hit the waves....nite!!!

Hey Barb! I'm glad Bubba's OK! Kids can really give you a scare sometimes! I know my older one is good at that, but I usually don't get out of the doctor's office that cheap...he's always got to have X-rays and/or blood work. We had two broken bones last year in three weeks!! And he took two more hard falls that required X-rays in the same school year, but different insurance deductible years....He was the only one in the family that met his medical deductible during those two years.

Boys! Been there done that many times. Oldest ds was always an accident waiting to happen.

Lori, Did you get any bad weather today? We got a little, but not that much. My sister was able to get Hannah Montana Tickets for New Orleans and she gave them to my niece for her birthday (which is today). My sister and her husband have friends in Baton Rouge with a daughter the same age and they are going with them. They have vacationed together many times, so the girls are really good friends.

We got weather in the middle of the night Sunday night. There were tornaod warning south of us and northeast of us for quite a whilr.

I am so glad your sister was able to get tickets to see HM. The girls are going to have a blast!

I have to share this with ya'll.
The day before Christmas break at work we all had a mandatory sensitivity training workshop lead by some PHD from Minnesota. One of the high school principals in town and a couple of people in admin. was fired for sending pornographic emails to one another which was likely one reason for the workshop. Some of the sexual harassment do's and don'ts in the workshop seemed ridiculous to many of us but some I wasn't aware of and I had to clean up some stuff in my office and computer. The instructor warned us about calendars and screen savers, etc. I told her that my screen saver was of my daughter's first kiss and I could feel a few ears perk up. I said it was her kissing a dolphin and I wondered if some might be offended thinking that it was some form of bestiality. The class had a good laugh and she thanked me for injecting a little humor into what was a pretty tense class.
Yesterday I was called to the director of human resource's (HR) office. This really dates me and I know that most of you will not remember this but the director of HR was the lady from Romper Room. Remember the Do Bee a Do Bee? I didn't think so. Well I get in the office and she asked me to sit in a chair that she called "the hot seat". There was a court stenographer and another suit at the table. They started the recorder and it was like a deposition. State your name for the record kind of stuff. I had heard there was an incident in the office where one of the guys patted a female co-worker on the butt in the hallway and that was the Genesis for the workshop. I had also heard that he and my immediate supervisor were called to HR. So when they ask me why I think I'm there I say, "The sensitivity training?"
They tell me a that a women had filed a grievance, or whatever they call it, that named me as well as others. The women is someone that I may see once a month so I'm really searching my brain for how I could have offended her. The Romper Room lady says did you have a parrot that said, "Show us your T*ts?" Hearing that from her it was really hard to keep from laughing.
I had to explain that for Halloween I had dressed as a pirate and one of my best props was a little stuffed parrot that had a "press here" button on it that I had pinned and taped to my shoulder. I had spent the day ducking and dodging people who wanted to press the button. Late in the afternoon my secretary caught me in the hall wanting to get a photo along with a girl that I didn't know who had a pretty weak costume of a hockey player. While we were posing the girl reached over and pressed the button and out comes "squawk...Hey, Baby, show us your t*ts!, followed by the wolf whistle." The girl said, "What did he say?" And all I did was laugh as did my secretary. The women that turned in the complaint was not present but must have heard about it. So that's the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth so help me God.
When they shut off the tape recorder Ms. Romper Room said I shouldn't worry. I told her that I didn't touch anyone and I didn't say anything to offend anyone but someone grabbed at and poked something I was wearing as a costume and another woman was offended by what she heard the stuffed animal's recording said? Pretty weak.
The woman's complaint for my boss was that he had a candy jar full of chocolates that he kept on the book shelf above his desk requiring someone to reach above their head maybe on tip toes to get the chocolates as he allegedly ogled the women's body. Pretty simple solution here- Don't go for the candy!
We may be dinosaurs here but I hate to think what society will be like in the future if complaints like these continue and receive merit.

Absolutely rediculous! Hope you are cleared of everything. So how many people did this woman complain about? Sounds like a real trouble maker.

Okay guys, Carol is scheduled for surgery at 3:30pm this afternoon. They said they may be in to pick her up as early as 2:30pm. I don't know anything else at this point.

I woke up this morning with a sore throat and fever, so if you are wondering why I'm here instead of the hospital it's because I have no choice.

I'm sitting here trying to find some good pictures of the boys so I can make a bouqet of photos for Carol's room when she gets home. Positive forward thinking, right?

Can't believe you are sick now. I am thinking and praying for you & Carol. Let us know when you hear something.

hi wendy (now i'll be thinking about Peter Pan ride all day lol)! I checked into Meridia a few years ago (evidently, a more easy/tolerable dosage of the much-maligned Rx version). My insurance wouldn't pay for it (couple hundred $s) Stupid imo, they pay for gastric bypass. There is a particualr dr in our area known as the referral guru for it. As per acquaintances, encourages folk to "eat their way up" to the poundage threshold - even gives diet recommendations and suggestions for medical necessity (depression). One of the girls i know that had it done managed to stretch out her stomach & gained so much weight; she had it done again.

It took me awhile to get past the 30 HIGH SCHOOL BOYS IN YOUR HOUSE thought.

But the photos of the snow piled up at school... priceless...

Leave it to teenaged boys to think up something like that... work their butts off... take pictures... and POST the pictures on the internet. It'll be worth the punishment. Think of the fame. Think of the stories they get to tell for the rest of their lives. Sure, they have to slap them for the inconvenience and cost, but they'll live.

i'm glad to hear that too.....i like 'glimmers' of hope...they still 'count' as 'hope'. For the surgeon to say "cautiously optimistic" is good too....doctors tend to be more of a 'preparer of negative news' instead of the good. Well wishes for tomorrow..I'll be at the h*llhole working, but will think of Penny and Carol.

My mom has started living in a bubble the past few years. She doesn't have contact with many people, she doesn't go many places, and since Dad died that has only worsened. It has effected her. I mean the "living in a bubble" part has made her a more unhappy and negative person. She was always upbeat and looked on the positive, but the past few years... well, she's not exactly the same woman I grew up with... but I guess we all change. I hope that I have learned something from watching her the past few years and don't follow the same pattern. KWIM?

IL'm glad Bubba turned out to be fine. Those things can be SO scary. Ya know, if Bubba is a good goalkeeper already, just think how he'll be once he has someone helping him!

Tricia, Carol's news sounds hopeful; I've been thinking about you today, I thought her surgery was today. I'll say more prayers for you and your family and send some more hugs your way Oh, and I meant to tell you that I enjoyed seeing the photos of you and your family at the wedding! You all looked so nice all dressed up!

I hope your son gets his reaction/allergy/whatever seen and treated soon. I hate to hear that he's in insurance limbo. Part of Carol's problem, perhaps, is that she waited a bit after she first felt the lump. She was almost positive it was the cancer returning (same spot on the same breast, duh), but she had just switched employers and had to wait out her probation period before her medical insurance coverage kicked in. She knew she couldn't afford cancer treatment without insurance. How bad does that suck?

We had some rain, which for us is a good thing. Not much, but we'll take anything at this point. Our high yesterday was 72. We were freezing our tails off last week with temps in the teens for a couple of nights and, now, we're opening the windows because it's too hot inside.

First of all, CONGRATS on 9 pounds! That's a great start!

It sounds like you've got the right outlook on the diet plan. Alli is a good help to get you established in new, better habits. Your already looking ahead to when you won't need it anymore. That's good mental programming! And, yes, from what I've read the side effects are only there if you don't stick with the diet.

Anybody remember Olestra? The fat substitute that was supposed to be the next big thing? Oh, but they failed to mention the whole gas-with-oily-discharge thing on the potato chip commercials. Reading up on the Alli complaints (again, from people who clearly weren't sticking to the diet) made me think back to the horror of Olestra. Eat a bag of chips and don't gain weight, but who cares if you can't control your bowels?

Doing a little better my swollen eye is going down slowly but surely and is still itching but at least its not hurting as bad as the past few days and now can actually blink without letting out a yelp and yes I am using the eye drops and eye cream like they say cause Dw said she would hurt me if I didn't well catch you all later time to put in some that eye cream which mean i won't be able to see well for the next few mins.

Wendy- Be careful with the Alli. A buddy and I started it then we stopped for a trip to Universal. We both had some severe pains. Alli won't let you cheat.

My mom was friends with Fran Alison from Kukla, Fran and Ollie. Remember that? I was more of a Captian Kangaroo man myself. You can't beat the ping pong ball humor of Mr. Moose.

Lori- The "victim" went after 3 of us. All without merit. HR is looking at it to see if it might be considered false accusations. A dear friend called this morning and I had to give her a hard time for giving me the parrot in the first place. We had some laughs about the things that we could've been busted for but weren't caught when she used to work here.

I know of Kukla, Fran and Ollie... but it was a little before my time. How could you NOT love Captain Kangaroo? Mr Green Jeans was my favorite along with Mr Moose. Grandfather clock (zzzzzz), Bunny Rabbit, Dancing Bear... and who was the guy that always pulled bananas out of his coat? I remember my mom saying he used to be on some real (i.e. "grownup" to me at the time would have been "real") show. Good stuff.

I was on a local kids show once (but, then, who wasn't). I was about 5 I guess? I have vague memories of going to an office, being led into a tv studio (which wasn't much to my little eyes), and sitting on a bench behind a short wall. It was the Mr. Pix show, I think. I wouldn't swear to the title. Maybe it was Mr. Pix and Pixie? Something like that. Anyway, if we drove to the studio, it had to be in Atlanta... so I'm sure it was completely local.

My favorite show by far was Electric Company. The Adventures of Letterman (Gene Wilder), Easy Reader (Morgan Freeman), Carmela (Rita Moreno), geez... Mel Brooks was involved and Bill Cosby... Luis (don't ask me his last name, but I had a HUGE crush on him)... it was fantastic. Like Laugh-In for kids.

I had a pair of Romper Stompers... and watched faithfully to see if Miss Sally would see me in her magic mirror. Miss Sally was replaced by Miss Yvonne somewhere during my youth. There was Miss Nancy when my older siblings watched. The show was a franchise and local stations could either carry the syndicated show OR simply buy the rights to produce the show locally with their own host. I think we had the syndicated show first and it was replaced by a local personality later. We also had Officer Don and Orville on the Popeye Club, but I think that was local Atlanta stuff. I could be wrong. My memory ain't what it used to be. A nice trip down memory lane...

Wow, I had forgotten about Romper Stompers. I had some too! And a cardboard car, I think it was from the same show. She never did see me in the damn magic mirror.

Okay guys, Carol is scheduled for surgery at 3:30pm this afternoon. They said they may be in to pick her up as early as 2:30pm. I don't know anything else at this point.

I woke up this morning with a sore throat and fever, so if you are wondering why I'm here instead of the hospital it's because I have no choice.

I'm sitting here trying to find some good pictures of the boys so I can make a bouqet of photos for Carol's room when she gets home. Positive forward thinking, right?

You have been there for her right along, so I know she understands and that you are rooting for her from home. Still.... not fair.

All I can say is DUH! Still, it was a good prank! Think the school overrreacted a little, but I guess they had to or kids would do it each time it snowed for the next several years!

You have to stop and think about all the kids and parents it affected. They now have to go to school one more day at the end of the year. All afterschool sports are automatically cancelled when there is no school. So now you have not only the home highschool but also all the schools that were competing against us in track, basketball, hockey or whatever that now have to reschedule. Then there's all the afterschool clubs, plus all the folks who do adult ed. I think 5 days of suspension is fair. One of the boys has already been suspended 10 days this quarter for having alcohol in his car. Glad I'm not his mom.

The computer only has two uses: to get a keycard and to click on the balls in the pattern on the drawing. The remaining white balls are whereyou put the 7 in the grate.

As for the 7 balls, check under the desk, under the couch, on the clock, in the drawers, and on the coatrack. The ducks give you keys, as do the card readers. When you get new keys, try opening new drawers.

Hello homies thought I would stop by and say hi .
Doing a little better my swollen eye is going down slowly but surely and is still itching but at least its not hurting as bad as the past few days and now can actually blink without letting out a yelp and yes I am using the eye drops and eye cream like they say cause Dw said she would hurt me if I didn't well catch you all later time to put in some that eye cream which mean i won't be able to see well for the next few mins.

Lawrence - glad your feeling a bit better. I hope your not driving~
