so we are NOT going to Florida next year. twice in a row and now not until 09. we will be relocating to Salk lake in two years(DH is retiring and is a skiing addict) and we are going back out to narrow down the area I WILL LIVE IN..... I can be rather fussy in the house hunting market...... or should I say a complete witch.......
Out there we will find good healthcare, clean living, job for me, and halfway decent weather......

I am having a very hard time keeping up after being gone for more than a week and still not feeling 100%. I am sorry, Tricia, that Carol's recovery doesn't seem to be going well. Penny, I am glad your biopsy came back OK. mac, I'm sorry you're not feeling well either. I hope you know how sorry I am that we missed you when you came back looking for us on Sunday night. We were stuck ordering room service, and might I say that room service at HRH SUX!

I don't think I'll every catch up fully, so please let me just say hugs and prayers to those who need it and congrats to those who've earned it!

Tracie - I thought there already was a dance video. Did I misunderstand? I just don't understand the obsession behind people that gets them to cheat against children. What are we teaching them when adults behave that way!

Sorry the trip has been delayed. I need to pick out our dates for our trip to California next summer. Of course I also need to figure out what all we are going to try to cram in to the trip. Hope you figure something out soon. We both need a counter going!

Gemma - Sounds like a wild night. I know I said I would try not to worry but that isn't really working to well. Please be careful.

I was wondering about the pumpkin too. We can't get them to last any time at all once they have been carved.

I have not spent a lot of time with him driving, my nerves can't handle it either. DH drives with him quite a bit. As for the G/T if it were a whole class it might be different but I am not going to have her doing the G/T work & having to make up what she misses out on in her regular class if there is going to be a lot of it. Then again, if it were a seperate class she probably wouldn't like that because it would seperate her from her friends. Oh the joys of parenting.

So what is your middle DS doing solo this weekend? Is he a police officer? Guess I missed that somewhere.

Tricia - As I said above "the joys of parenting"! How do you know what is best to do when it comes to these things. And don't worry about responding directly to everyone. We all know where your mind is and understand completely.

I am so sorry Carol is having such a terrible time. Are they doing more extreme treatments this time or did she have these problems before. tay strong and remember we are here for you.

Janet & I are both watching Dancing With the Stars. It really hasn't been to thrilling this year. I don't think it is real fair either with Sabrina Brian on there. Isn't she a professional dancer herself? I realize it's not ballroom that she does but she does have more of the ability to learn the dances.

I miss Billy Ray & Apollo from last season!

So what do you think about the chase so far? I am liking what I have see. Knock on wood!!!

Penny - So the Tampa trip is off? That stinks.

Don't blame you at all for being picky about where you live. Good luck with the search.

Akdar - I really don't pack ahead of time either. I make lists and make sure the laundry is all done up then throw it in the bags as I am marking off the list. Put it in the hallway the night before we leave and throw it in the car in the morning as we are heading out the door.

Mac - Hope all went well at the docs office today.

When your ds teaches you how to download & upload those pics make sure you make a copy of them. Don't want to loose them like I did with our Christmas trip pics.

I think mac was being facetious ... we took all of 3 pics that night. I am going to try to upload my photos tonight. I am running at about half speed right now. It's going to be a LOOONG night at work, that's for sure. It's one of those days where if I can't answer you via email or IM, you shouldn't talk to me. It's not an "out loud" day yet for me. Good morning!

Joshua is home from school again today for "Student Holidays". No rhyme or reason, just time to take a day off I guess. I had my parent teacher conference and Joshua's Kindergarten teacher wants to recommend him for the gifted program next year. I have LOTS of questions about what that means. The last thing Joshua wants at this point in his life is to feel different. I'm torn between that not wanting to hold him back thing and that not wanting to push him thing. It's never easy is it?

Carol is in the hospital. They transported her Sunday because she couldn't control the vomiting with the meds they sent her home with. She is stable and as comfortable as possible at this point. I think they plan to release her tomorrow.

Tricia, sorry to hear about Carol, but glad she is doing a little better and hopefully get discharged from the hosp. soon

Congrats on Joshua, getting recommended for the gifted program
I don't know what the requirements are in your school dist., but they do special gifted testing every January in our school dist., to determine if the child qualifies. They also base it on ISAT and Terra Nova test scores in our dist. as well. ISAT is the Illinois Standard Achievment Testing and Terra Nova was another Illinois standardized test. Matthew is in the gifted program at our school His second grade teacher told me in Dec(this was almost 3 yrs ago), that she recommended Matthew for the gifted program, based on his standardized test scores. He had to do extra testing for it in Jan and Feb, in 2nd grade. He qualified with the non-verbal visual- spatial stuff, from hte testing (not exactly sure what that is). He is extremely proficient in math.
He is already learning algebra with his pull-out gifted teacher every week!
Matthew just gets pulled out once or twice a week for math and last couple of yrs was pulled out for literature, but not pulled out for lit. anymore.

Let us know what you and your DH decide to do with Joshua, with the gifted program. You can always ask me anything about it, if I can answer it

Sounds similiar to my biological father's situation.....my Mom was his first wife, me his first kid. Mom kicked him out, they divorced. He remarries and has a son. THEY divorce. Eventually I find out (he didn't 'keep in touch' with me...yep, deadbeat) he's remarried ...to a nice lady Joyce. Well, to make a long story short, I MEET Joyce for the first time at my biological father's funeral AND find out she doesn't know about his second wife and son! Just shows ya what a loser my bio was..... So, kinda feel yer pain there....but, I do think it's great you and your sister are doing SO much to help yer Dad thru this..... THAT is what family is supposed to be like! When Michael gets his license, lemme know....I'll stay off the shoulder of the road...... Nah, j/k...I wish him lots of luck....just be sure he wears that seatbelt and doesn't speed. Seems those 2 things like to take our children from us

Tricia...scorin' sum bux, eh? Good for you! Glad to hear you weren't "stuck" with those NASCAR tix!! By the way....loved the "horse" story I would agree....very creative/imaginative...something you will never forget! We ALL have those "I'll never forget" stories.... I'll tell ya ours someday..... As far as putting Joshua in 'gifted'...um, he's in KINDERGARTEN!! Tell me exactly HOW gifted one can be in kindergarten? I say, let him go....he's just learning the ropes...he's got 12 years ahead of him of work and school..... I will say, it DOES reflect well on you and Brad tho You should feel good about his level of knowledge at such a young age. They tested Bubba at the end of 2nd grade.....(or was it first?)...anyway...DH & I looked at each other and said "He ain't gifted". He's really smart, but c'mon.... So, he tested extremely high, except in 1 thing...he just tested "high"... Apparently if you don't score 'extremely' high in all the areas, they don't recommend them....but, I didn't want him in "gifted" in elementary school..... plenty of time for that and we make sure the teacher keeps him busy and challenged on a daily basis anyway. I hope Carol is able to come home soon...you always feel better at "home". I keep thinking things can only get better...right? HEY! Tell her the 'horse' story....that'll make her chuckle! Still keepin' her in my thoughts and prayers....

Soooo.....Tracie....where's the anniversary trip to?? Any ideas?? And where is that freakin football dancin' video??? C'mon woman! You're killin' me here

Coach signed the boys up for the indoor soccer this season....and I DON'T think Robbie is doing it The boy has got some issues...I think one of them is no Dad around. DH said "I don't blame the guy for leavin'" Seriously, I think that is a major part of the problem. And Mom, well, her elevator don't go to the top floor either....kwim??? Her kid makes little to NO effort in practice OR in the game. Now, if that were MY kid, I'd yank him right out! He's an embarrassment and it's really not fair to the rest of the team that rely on him to do what he's supposed to and doesn't.... Why Mom doesn't understand it hurts (and isn't fair) to the rest of the team, I don't know ....I'd like to slap some sense into her...(Whoops! Did I say that outloud?) So, yes, guess I'm turnin' into 'soccer Mom'...which is okay. I can add it to "karate Mom" title.... (Anything to get the boy movin' and not sittin' in front of a computer/tv screen!)

Wanted to say "hi" to everyone.... on soccer nites, it's pretty crazy around here. Starting to get dark earlier, so that helps... but, coming home, getting a shower, doing chores and homework, dishes and makin' lunches I'm not sitting down till 9ish most nights. I do read everyday, but don't necessarily post. I will learn so I don't have to sit here and take notes for 1/2 an hour .....

Oh, here's something interesting....we all bought pirate costumes for the Disney cruise next summer....well, I had a customer of mine (who loves to bargain shop) keep an eye out for pearls for me (different sizes and lengths). So, she comes in for her appt. today with all sorts of cool stuff! She had pearls, gold coin clip on earrings, gold coin bracelet and necklaces and pearl necklaces! I told her I felt bad using her "jewelry" as 'costume' jewelry, but she laughed and said it was so long ago that it was 'in', that she was just happy someone could wear it again!! I'm tellin' ya, we are gonna look AWESOME!!! (DH wants to dress up for Halloween to "try them out", but I'm thinkin' it might be too chilly for me)

I also bought a new camera (Canon S5 IS) it's a fancier point & shoot, but not a SLR. Been messing with it, and it's pretty sweet, and I have an 8 gig SDHC card in it, so even at the highest resolution, I can fit almost 2000 pics on it before I have to dump it into the pooter!! Also, it can record video at 60fps, can you tell I like it!!!
So, I'll be staying in touch for sure

penny - great icons! i'll need to pull out a map to remember where Utah is , hope it's all you wish! Handyman helper , have you ever seen an episode of "red green" - canadian import on PBS...it's a guy thang/very funny in a benny hill-ish unrefined way.

gemma - what's the lowdown on prince william & kate...saw pics of her getting down & dirty hunting in a bog with prince charles...is she "the one"? Enquiring minds need to know.
