If you stick around, you'll meet our Gemma....our wonderful 19 yo in Ireland (or is it UK now for University), who has a lot of, ahem, "fun" some nites and types very cryptically (in other words, she PIU and it's a hoot!) She is even engaged to Burger King!

So....we are not a clique ...we have always welcomed everyone and not 'bashed' anyone who wanted to 'hang wit the homies'

Off to ready for work.....wonder if I'll still have this job after today

I recall someone posted that they were "invading" Universal with a pack of cheerleaders in Feb or so? Could you be the same peep? I got to stay @ the AS Mo with twirlers/Daytona 500 crowd in Feb one year...cannot imagine the resort could've had that many rooms to handle the throng in the food court.

I almost forgot last night in all the excitement that I had promised to make grub for DSs German class today. Already had bought the food-whew. Whipped out my handy-dandy crockpot & made a rec. i found on the internet, sure not "lo-cal" (got smart & doubled it so i'd have dinner tonight too):

fry up 1/4 # of bacon, save drippings &
brown pork roast & brautwurst
throw sauerkraut in crockpot, add 1/2 cup water
throw in the meat; season - oddly took 1/4 c of brown sugar?
and several apples, cored

I woke this am to the best smell, never had brautwurst or cooked a roast that way; even thou DH is German he doesn't eat the cuisine, have to tackle him to eat a hot dog. Can you imagine the cholesterol if this is normal diet?

Gemma - meant to address this the other night, my MIL was diagnosed with anorexia shortly before she passed; it's listed on death certificiate. (I had suspected it for years, she barely weighed 90 pds since i met her years ago; but everyone said that was just her way - including her family doctor). Once she developed altzheimers everything went downhill quickly; yet I cared for her the best I could before we placed her in a facility. However, the one thing that stuck with me is the specialist indicating that in her case it was not so much an "eating" issue as to an image/control factor.

i'm not qualified to render an opin; however, I wonder if girlfriend is just a mite envious that you aren't partaking in the "Freshman 10" that can sneak up on students away @ school....otherwise she's just worried about you go find a milkshake.

I *think*... and, again, that's a dangerous thing for me... that the chick who defined us as a clique on Jodie's thread must've read the comments Jodie & I were trading yesterday here about the thread over there and thought we were laughing at her... or laughing at everyone on the thread. Like Jodie started the thread for no other purpose than to give us a chance to make fun of the CB folks or something. Jodie made her vent, others chimed in, it rubbed some destination wedding couples the wrong way, that in turn rubbed people that get invited to destination weddings the wrong way, and viola'... we got ourselves a hot thread. You never know when that's gonna happen. The only thing we did here was to discuss our mutual enjoyment of the fact that the thread was getting so much traffic... and that the same arguments (if you want to call them arguments) were happening in cycles and/or getting blown out of proportion.

The thread still hasn't died BTW. Last post was about an hour ago.

So, we aren't by definition a clique. Dang. Couldn't we be the anti-clique clique?

No, I gave up. I usually hang mostly on the resorts board. But since I am not on the DIS that much, I have never been able to find a huge chunk of time to read the whole thing. I would love to read it all some day!

So....., since I will never get the whole thing read.....I thought I would just jump in.

From the middle of September to the first of November we can't avoid German food... or at least whatever people call German food. Don't know if it's the real thing or not. At least once every Oktoberfest, we'll go to the Festhalle and have a "wurst plate" while listening to Ooom-pah music.

I read part of Jodie's thread on the CB, but got so lost that I wouldn't have even known what to say. I will say this though, it looked like there were lots of peeps who took what Jodie said as an in general statement and and it appeared that a lot of other peeps (even some not in the "clique" ) understood what she was saying and were backing her up. There are always going to be some jerks that try to flame you just for making a statement....some folks live for conflict! That's exactly why I like it here! If we don't agree about something, nobody gets burned at the stake.

Hi Michele! There is no way you're going to catch up. Sometimes I can't and freely admit that I haven't. Everyone here is gracious about that. Just start jumping in now and forget what happened before! We are easily entertained (I am anyway), and very welcoming in this thread! Succumb to the frivolity, mundane, and support and just jump in with both feet. And, you don't have to post every day either, so don't feel you need to do that. Despite Tricia's tag, we're not stalkers!


Well everyone ... I'm still stuck on page 9. Was hoping for double digits. I had thought that my original post was straightforward. I can't believe it turned into a lukewarm code red!

I am off for a hair coloring -- yeah, this blonde's shades don't match the carpet, if you KWIM. I am dragging Mike with me. I have been hounding him to grow out his hair a bit, and now he can't stand it so it needs to be styled. This should be fun!

Tricia - thanks for the link, no - i never heard of it...honestly don't think i've ever set foot in Atlanta (driving thru doesn't count)...other than the airport (where i sat in a plane on the tarmac one year during a thunderstorm; making deals with God ).

I've now decided my house stinks from sauerkraut & i'm lighting candles & put the ceiling fans on low. We're going to be in the upper 80's thru the weekend & NO RAIN

Hi Everyone - remember me?

Okay, once again my computer is not working. Oh, the computer is, but not the internet. But actually the internet is, but the computer and the internet can't find each other! So I've been reading along for the past few days, but if I want to post (like I am now) I have to on a laptop, which just doesn't work for me. Me and the laptop do not get along.

But I was feeling guilty about being one of the folks who are just "stalking this thread without posting" (sorry Jodie!). Yep, I guess I'm one of them!

Tricia - I never even got to say how sorry I am about your sister. Please continue to keep us posted and we'll continue to keep her in our prayers. Maybe you should join her in Orlando?

Interesting - on DS' computer, when I use photobucket, I get a warning that says "This web page could be a scam. Proceed with caution!". Weird. Incidentally, his space bar doesn't work either so I have to hit it about 3 times for each space - extremely annoying! Well, it's already 70 and sunny here so I'm heading outside to enjoy it before I have to go to work! Talk to you all later - DH comes home today so hopefully he can fix our computer!

The girl from last night is doing my head in!! She's so cheeky!! Everything has to be about her! For example, me and my friend were trying to decide if we wanted to go out tonight or not and she came in and started having a go because shes in uni at 9am tomorrow (so are we!) and being so rude to me!
