let's go to room #2
(for a Sunday that is!)
Assume it's the legal eagles/insurance liability or is it now state law? thought it was voluntary.![]()
Otherwise, unless you've got a dim-bulb for a barkeep, they should know the signs of a drunk or they're in the wrong profession. If anything else, you keep a mental count of what they're drinking and how many/hour, etc. Only problem I ran into is waitresses were usually more worried about tips & didn't monitor big spenders as well as they should.
Easiest way to shut somebody off - very sloooooow service, watered down drinks or 1st calling bouncer, then shutting them off![]()
If it is now state law, it makes me glad i didn't buy that liquor license when we had the chance.
Weird note - did you know that if you let an obviously intoxicated drunk walk home they can be picked up on a version of DUI; which bounces back to the bar...absurd. Local bar got in big trouble a few years ago on this one.Yep.... I did know this.....
.....we'll have to get together again sometime
Welcome to 2007!
THE DELOREAN! *goes to check*
, so now you got PS, what exactly do you plan to do with it????
Mornin' all........
My Penny! You're up early!(for a Sunday that is!)
Tricia...hope ya got some sleep last nite![]()
Janet.....it's PLCB mandated law now...so, I'm guessing that is 'state' level. Yep, they are really cracking down on alcohol servers in PA now. I do believe the city of Phila. has even implemented a "point system" for infractions, with harsher penalties for accumulating more points. The President of my company has been an 'expert' witness for many cases when it comes to stuff of the sort. I took the class, but it was a couple years ago, so can't remember everything I learned about. Yes, one would think it's all 'common sense', but lets face it, most people have misplaced theirs![]()
So, besides watching our teams lose today, what else are we doin'????
Jodie & Katie...wanted to add, I had a fab time last nite.....we'll have to get together again sometime
Oh, and I told DH about Howdeeee Doodeeee...he was like ----->

So, if I'll try to be on later, much later!.
you try something besides Tylenol??? Like Advil or Motrin? I know Tylenol does nothing for me and Bubba...for fevers I give him Motrin...dunno why it works, but does
) Good luck!
It costed about $900
It really needed to be done b/c it is an older van (103,000 miles on it) and the thermostat on the van was always going to "high" which isn't good. Was doing this all summer, so had to be fixed. Put it on the credit card as usual. Well, at least the cost was under $1,000
Very cute!
Tricia- Hope you will be feeling better soon

we're kickin butt!
It always scared me thinking of those who were flying high from either Rxs or contraband; then topping it off with booze. Know the younger generation (my older 2 DSs) do use a designated driver or chip in & hire a limo for big nights.
and their germs; didn't develop a tolerance? good as excuse as any i suppose.
) should go.Yes. He redeemed himself. He knew I was pissed, so when he came home he was EVER so helpful around the house. Keeping the boys busy while I finished dinner (chicken & dumplings and cornbread... I have tons of leftovers if anyone is interested). Gathered the dishes, loaded the dishwasher, even cleaned up the messy stovetop and stored the leftovers. Hauled a load of laundry up and another down. He is right now putting the boys to bed. I think for a slip of the memory, he has more than earned my forgiveness.![]()
So, nobody wants to share pregnancy pics, huh? How about the first car idea? Here I am on my 19th birthday. It was the mid-eighties, so dig my big hair, heavy eyeliner, and (I think) Stevie Nicks concert tshirt:
thanks lori - they both need a good, old-fashioned smack down.
DS is wound mighty tightly lately, stretching himself too thin, getting jerked around by employer/scheduling-political bs; still no excuse to be a jerk. We've cleared the air & i've laid down the law...he's creeping around with tail between his legs...we'll soon see if he's going to walk the talk this time
ps hannah montana/billy ray are on 20/20 right now!
Love Bubba's coaches comment. What a great piece of advice for him to give.
Ryan's instructor at karate told them at their blackbelt ceremony, that quitting is the easiest thing you'll ever do. The more he practices, the better he'll get, the more playing time he'll get. (Also tell him the chicks like football players)
Lori....you weren't being a 'thread hog' ....you were catching up!! Let me reciprocate: Glad to hear your Dad is doing better. Amazing how you feel when you have no worries. I read the story about the tough love you had to give your son...sometimes you HAVE to do it (altho it kills ya at the time), I'm just glad it worked for you guys. (My Mom tried that with my sister, and it didn't work....that's why she is 'disowned') I would agree also with your comment about the ref's and rules changing in pro sports. My DFIL used to bet on Eagles games and rely on it as a source of income (was working 3 jobs, plus betting to 'live'....had 4 kids). Once the refs starting 'controlling' the game, and screwin' up calls, he decided not to 'chance' it anymore. And look at the refs that now admit to 'controlling' the game.....ridiculous! AND, a shame..... Oh, thanks for the info on doctor 'tested' and 'recommended'.....makes sense now that you mention it. But, having the doctors I do, I would trust any of them...and I DO ask questions. First one always being "does this affect my pill?" LOL.... (And I think the problem with Robbie [on Bubba's soccer team] is that there ISN'T a "father" in his life...Mom is doing it alone, and well, her elevator doesn't go to the top floor either...kwim??) How was the parade btw?? Any pix of Ally???

Sometime this weekend Barb I promise.
Just keep![]()
Well, this weekend is starting off with a whimper.
I couldn't sleep well last night. Kept tossing and turning, and when I would drop off to sleep I was having weird dreams. I finally gave up about 5am and got up. I have already baked a batch of blueberry muffins, got dinner in the Crock Pot, showered, and done two loads of laundry. It's not quite 8am on a SATURDAY!!!![]()
I'm heading down to civilization today. The boys need a haircut (and with school pictures next week, I can't put it off anymore)... plus I got an invitation to an old friend's baby shower. She's registered at Babies R Us, and the closest one to me is about an hour's drive away. Sigh. Such is life in the boonies.
A tequila story, huh? Yeah, I've got a couple. The first that comes to mind is one where we had been out to a bar and I had consumed a monster margarita by myself (think goldfish bowl sized drink). We decided we wanted to go dancing. There was a group of we girls and few guys that had joined us. When we got to the club, one of the guys wasn't going to be admitted because he was wearing a tshirt. The club had a "guys have to wear shirts with collars" rule. Dunno why, but I was wearing a polo shirt... so, I came up with the brilliant solution of trading shirts with him. Right there. At the door to the club. In front of the guy collecting the cover charge, the bouncer, and a uniformed cop... plus all the other people waiting to get in. Why I wasn't arrested, I haven't a clue. Everyone just laughed and let us in. I don't even know who the guy was and I never got my shirt back.
I have others, but you get the idea. Ah, to be young and stupid again.![]()
Tricia - I love your bar story. Makes perfect sense to me! (At least after a large margarita!) What was the problem?Um, we've done something similar, but involving shoes, not shirts!
We were in line for a coaster at Cedar Point once and the kid behind us had been measured at the entrance and allowed in, but when we got to the ride station they measured him again and said he was a little too short. He was wearing a pair of flip-flops and DS (who was more than tall enough) was wearing tennis shoes. Told them to swap shoes and voila - he was tall enough. We did get our shoes back though!
I can't sleep, I get really bad hullucinations and sleep walk. It's strange. Last night I woke up thinking there were spiders all over my bed so stayed awake for hours refused to lie on my bed- I hate losing sleep!!
Ohhh want to hear my new life philosiphy? My friend told me it and it fits me perfectly- "When life throws me lemons, I bust open the tequila and salt!" I love it!!
I always think American cars are big. Not in the sense that they are all huge but most of the cars in America are family sized cars. I rarely see smaller cars when I go on holiday (maybe it's just Florida?) I got my first car for my 17th birthday.
Anxious to hear how the party went. Hope your hubby had a great day!Morning all
SHHHHHHt-minus 1 hour till first birthday surprise - guess where DH's friend is going when I drop him off at the airport tomorrow? Yup, Disney
His family is driving from their house in KY and should arrive late today.
Todd or anyone else down there, you guys okay? My in laws called this morning to tell us they were fine. I was like, "Ummm... okay... good to know..." Then they said that a tornado had touched down about 20 miles away from them. They are house sitting for SIL while she & her hubby are in Europe somewhere. Her house is in the Orlando suburbs, so I don't know where exactly the damage was or if it was anything major.
I couldn't believe the baby registry when I printed it out at Babies R Us. SEVEN PAGES!I looked down the list thinking, "She doesn't need half this crap." She had 3, count them, THREE different kinds of strollers.
I bought her a Boppy Pillow. That DID come in handy for me. My mom was with me and she said, "Are you going to buy her the cover for it."
Ummm... no. The pillow alone costs $25. The cover costs... $25. Huh? I love her and all, but I ain't spending $50 for a shower gift.
In searching my way back through the pics, I thought you would get a kick out of these from Halloweens past (pre-kids):
Ummm, I think I have that same Minnie outfit.... I was 13 years younger and 20 pounds lighter than I am now though ...And, I think I lost a bet and had to wear it to work for an hour over lunch break. My friend Dina had to dress as a cat. My boss, who was a big, dirty old man made me take a picture with him. JIM SAVOLD, IF YOU ARE OUT THERE, YOU CAN STILL DROP DEAD, YOU PIG.
I interrupt this thread to announce that ....
ahemmm, can I have your attention, please???
I do not brag often. Really, I don't ... do I?
Anyway ...
I AM CURRENTLY 6-FOR-6 IN GIVING ALEXANDER GRAHAM CAT HIS PILL!!!!!
Woo-hoo!
Oh, yeah, that's what I'm talking about.
When I lose my job as a network manager (because I once again told off some nimwit who bugs me today at work), I am going to become a professional cat pill-giver.
That's right. A per-pill charge + modest travel expenses will apply.
Thank you. Think I'll start running my ad tomorrow. Let's see how many calls I get.
Anyways, I'm doing nothing exciting this evening - how's about you? We just got back from a long bike ride with a whiny 14 year old ("How much looonnger? When are we getting hooome? Why doesn't Mattttt have to come? I'm boooored"). It was 70 and sunny and just beautiful out and we stopped at several parks, waded in a river, rode through the woods and across rivers, stopped and looked in several new houses being built, and yet all he did was whine! Sigh - the joys of having a teenager!
So, I just got done reading a really great book that made me laugh and cry and that I couldn't put down. It was called "You're Not You" by Michelle Wildgen. Now, I am sad I am done with it. It was about a young college student who becomes a care-giver for an ALS patient. Very, very good.
And, I have wanted to say that I am sorry that I don't always respond to everyone individually. Sometimes I have a hard time keeping up, and it's easier for me to be in a chat room type setting instead of reading and catching up and responding. I do try to read most everything though, and even if I don't respond personally, I am thinking of all of you.
Started dragging out halloween decorations; let me bore you with last year's display :
my splurge last year, haunted mansion headstone
