Hi all-
Haven't been here for a day and a half and you guys have been SO chatty!!:scared1: j/k.
Trying to catch up with all the pages!

RVGal- enjoyed your"then" pic, too!
I think one of your posts, you had a link to the "then and now" thread, but I didn't find you on the first page, what page were you on?

Hi to Mac and everyone else :wave2:

Oh, I'm so jealous of all of you that have been to WDW and /or Disneyland when you were children :guilty:
I have never been to anything Disney as a child.: :)

hey homie rose, good to see you.

you might not recognize tricia because i think the first pick is when she was 12 years old. who looks like they did when they were 12? not me....used to be a skinny then...lol

i lucked out on parents also rose, never did a disney trip. don't worry, you can vent here anytime, don't have to apologize for it.
i just can't remember much of some years of my childhood or i would vent too.

we never went anywhere that didn't mean relatives. not as much fun when you are a kid but would have loved to do it now.

My pics are on post #125: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=880727&page=9

and post #202: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=880727&page=14

Hope those links will take you directly to the right pages.

Tricia
That story is hilarious :lmao: :lmao:
I can so see you standing there by the hole in the fence, talking to the cows. Do they have horns?

No horns. Plain old angus females. Raised for beef, not dairy. Don't even get me started on the first year one of the cows went bye-bye and came back in pieces stored in our freezer.

RVGal- cute cow story :lmao:
I don't know if I would like to be the one to babysit the cows for a few minutes, too! :rotfl2:

Yeah, that was definitely a "why am I doing this?" moment.

That cow story is priceless!! I hope the tag fairy tags some of that!! brilliant- well done!

A cow tag? Hmmm... I'd take it! :thumbsup2

I want to apologize about my vent from my earlier post, if I have offended anyone, I don't mean to  :hippie:

No offense taken. Really didn't strike me as a vent, just sharing. My oldest sister moved to Winter Park in 1977, if it hadn't been for her close proximity to WDW I can guarantee you that my parents would never have even considered a trip to the Orlando area. Prior to that, our family "vacation" was ONE day at Six Flags Over Georgia each summer. Oh, and we did camping/fishing trips (pitch a tent for the weekend... drown some worms... eat fried Spam... ). I was the youngest of 4 and, looking back, I realize that my parents couldn't afford to do anything else until my oldest sister and my brother were out of college. If I think about the number of times I've been to WDW now, we made up for it once we started going, I guess!

43 hours until liftoff!

Our first stay on site and at PBH. I can't wait. :thumbsup2
Got the cabana rented, called the hotelbar to see if they stocked DH's favorite booze, nope they don't, but will have it on hand when he get there!
This may be one of the last trips we make as a whole family. The kids are growing up too fast. :sad2:

Thats just like humans. Men are the horn-ey ones and women are the ones that have baby humans! :rotfl2: (Hope I don't get in trouble for that)

Ok, here's a REALLY scary picture of me on our WDW trip the following year (1979) when I got my first perm! Then take a look at those wonderful polyester pants!

Fro.jpg

Rose - I can't see how "I wish I'd gotten to go to WDW as a kid" can offend anyone! I think it would have been better going younger though - I remember a bit from our 1978 trip being okay, but the subsequent trips (when I was 13, 15, and 17), I remember doing a whole lot of screaming at my dad (and vice versa!) - guess taking a 14 and 15 year old this time was payback!

I loved  WDW as a kid, I really couldn't imagine NOT going. I'm spoiled, but you know what is really nice?....I can take my DF there and relive the whole new experience thru him because he never really went!

Hey guys. Ive been chatting to Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) on bebo tonight. I asked him if he was going to IOA when the new Harry Potter land opened up but he never got the chance to answer it so I will ask when he is next on and give you guys a link.

It is definately the real on because he has personal pics up. He's really nice and chats to fans.

i have to ask, what is bebo? :confused3
I'm almost done reading the newest book! I think #4 is my favorite. Which one did you like best?

Hey all!

Been an "interesting" day here.......but lemme catch up first:

Sharon: Bon Voyage and be picture happy! (ya know pictures are easy for macraven and janet to read) ;)

Tricia: cow story = :lmao: I can totally picture the entire thing...GREAT storytelling! :thumbsup2 (too bad no pics tho  ) oh, and we were at Wildwood Crest (Wildwood boardwalk)

Raven: NO!!! I am not 75  c'mon! and yes, DH has been stung by jellyfish many a time....gripes about it everytime! It DOES hurt! Here's a funny little "jellyfish" story for ya's: Our 10th anniversary cruise was on Royal Caribbean. We went snorkeling on their private island (CoCo Cay). We started from the beach and went out to the "oasis". We sat and chatted between us and with others before deciding to head back. The problem was a hurricane had been in the area about a week prior and "stirred" up the water AND the jellies! They were everywhere!! We held hands and stuck together (literally) and headed back to shore, "flicking" the jellyfish out of our way. Let me describe it better: we are going from ocean to beach and the jellyfish are swimming across in front of us....think the "Frogger" game  ...no lie. DH got 3 stings and when we got ashore, they had anti-sting stuff for people getting stung. Now, had they TOLD us the jellies were THAT bad, we would have rethought our plan. Speaking of, the plan was to then eat lunch and I was going to relax on a mat while DH did more snorkeling....so many jellies, he bagged it (and he really enjoys snorkeling!) Poor guy...... (ok, end of story)

Marcie: I hope your DS is feeling a bit better...I can't believe they did all those teeth at the same time! :scared1: A little extreme I think.... I don't know how you convince your entire family to wear all the same outfits each day....there is NO way I can convince my boys to do that....(and I usually don't wear "t-shirts" either, so that wouldn't work either!) and, speaking of, Ryan's Thing shirt is from Feb. of this year....worn and washed practically weekly, I haven't had any problems with it. The white hasn't faded, cracked or peeled. They might have gotten a "bad" batch....if you still have the receipt, why not give them a call and see if you can do a mail exchange or see what can be done? I know they aren't expensive shirts, but they aren't cheap either...especially with how many YOU purchase (where is the picture of the boys in their Thing shirts?)

Rosemarie: Don't feel bad about not getting to Disney as a child. You learn from your experiences and you are giving your kids those memories. Someone once told me: "Your son won't remember how clean or organized your home was....he will remember the vacations you took him on every summer." And ya know, that person was right. I am so lucky to be giving him these vacations and trips. I can't remember going on a lot of vacations as a kid. My grandpop had a house in Tuckerton, NJ, but it really wasn't any fun there (no beach or boardwalk...his house was on the bay) but, i do have good memories. We went to WDW when I was around 10, and I don't remember any of it. My son has been flying to Florida at least once a year since he was 1.5 yrs old. In the beginning, we didn't go to the parks, we just went to my in-laws for vacation, but I bet he can't remember a summer when he DIDN'T fly to Florida  I guess what I'm trying to say, is you are creating your children's memories now....and you do what you can and make them happy and have those memories...THAT is what will count! :thumbsup2

Jodie: What's the update w/ the door? Oh, and to answer your question from waaaay back, YES!! We seem to be getting a LOT of noobs with the same old questions daily..... oh well....whatcha gonna do? :confused3

Todd: What DAY is your birthday? I'm guessing not today, since you are sleeping already! If you don't tell us, we'll wish you happy day EVERY day till you tell us  (there are certain peeps here who  to use the HB smilies.. no names tho :rolleyes1 )

Okay...so, who'd I miss?? If I missed you...sorry....not on purpose! :upsidedow

So, I gots some stuff goin' on.....I read/lurk, but may not always post........

Guess I'll hit the hay too..... nite all

moooooooooooooooving story:rotfl:

don't have a cow, man

Todd - can't believe you're anywhere near 40.

Barb - we might have to carbon-date you;)

If i didn't write a TR, i'd forget most of our vacation details in a few months:laughing: . Same with my kids, they've traveled alot, sort of a fun-filled whirlwind. Which is a-ok in my book, long as they had fun and expanded their horizions just a bit i'm happy. Do think as long as the family unit is together, it doesn't matter where you go:cloud9: ; just nice to re-connect.

I eat cows. Regularly. Does that count as a cow story?

Tricia, very funny cow story! :)

Sharon, have a great trip!

Rosemarie, I didn't take your post as whining or venting. Mike took me to WDW for my 30th birthday. I had gone a lot when I was a kid, but hadn't been since I was 17. My mom and my aunt joined us for the trip (though they stayed at a different resort), so we all chatted about what we wanted to do before hand. Mike fessed up that he had never been to WDW before. My aunt wanted to know what kind of parents he had because she considered that a form of child abuse. (This is just my sick family's sense of humor, so please don't take that the wrong way.) Mike grew up in CA though, so he had to explain that he did go to Disneyland, just not WDW. My aunt felt that was no excuse! BTW, anything new on the job front?

Barb, so funny, only you would ask about an update for something as mundane as my broken door. :lmao: Supposedly the supervisor has promised that he will be at our house by 11 am tomorrow, and he said he has all the tracking info that shows the offending package was left at our front door. Hopefully, when he spoke to the driver, the driver fessed up, and the supervisor does show up tomorrow. He wants to take pics. We got an estimate and it's $300 because all the molding has to be replaced. I figure that's 100 beers for our October trip, or 150 happy beers at NBA City, so they better pay up! BTW, loved all your shore pics. I haven't been to Wildwood in forever!

And I just had to laugh at the phrase "cow break". My first thought was, "Ok, how do you break a cow?" :rotfl:

I didn't think of it that way! :lmao:

I guess you would put a saddle on it and walk it around? :rotfl:

Tricia: cow story = :lmao: I can totally picture the entire thing...GREAT storytelling! :thumbsup2 (too bad no pics tho  ) oh, and we were at Wildwood Crest (Wildwood boardwalk)

Glad you enjoy the story. My brother's house is in Harvey Cedars, NJ. All I know is it is on Long Beach Island and it takes us FOREVER to drive there. He used to have a house in Moorestown too, but he sold that and moved into a townhome in Ocean. We rarely go to his real home... just bypass it and head straight for the vacation one... :rolleyes1

headed back to shore, "flicking" the jellyfish out of our way. Let me describe it better: we are going from ocean to beach and the jellyfish are swimming across in front of us....think the "Frogger" game  ...no lie. :lmao: I know it isn't funny that he got stung, but the mental picture of you guys trying to get back to shore is priceless! :lmao:

I used to be pretty good at Frogger.

moooooooooooooooving story:rotfl:

don't have a cow, man

HA! :rotfl:

I eat cows. Regularly. Does that count as a cow story?

Tricia, very funny cow story! :)

Thanks. I eat cows regularly too. I have no choice.

Sharon & KStarfish - Have a great trip!!! I'll be waiting patiently for the Trip Reports. :rolleyes1 No pressure here either... popcorn::

Morning everyone!

If I understood the reports on the Weather Channel that I was halfway listening to, it is supposed to be hotter here today than in Central Florida. I think this is our peak day temp wise, though, so maybe we'll start getting a break this weekend. I have ribs in the slow cooker because I can't stand the thought of using the oven at all today. We've been having either slow cooker or grill meals for two weeks because I don't want to heat up the house. Sheesh.

I really, really have to do some cleaning today. Yesterday I just really needed to clean, but since it didn't happen I've moved up to really, really. :scared:

tricia, i would fire that maid you have for not showing up yesterday to clean

hope sharon and kstarfish drop by before they leave.
mummy dust for both of you.
