:scared: mac - i refuse to acknowledge that milestone, you're as old as you feel...today it's positively ancient.

so is it barb's bd? :upsidedow

Ugh... it's too hot to move.

Dinner? It's too hot to think about cooking... or eating...

Looking at the extended forecast, we MIGHT get a break this weekend.

Meanwhile, I have to clean up and look like a responsible parent for the meet-the-teacher thing tomorrow. How am I going to pull that off when I'll be all hot and sweaty? Sorry, not sweaty... "glistening"... my grandmother always used to say that proper ladies do NOT sweat, they glisten.

We had a parent-teacher night a few years back, that the parents actually verbally attacked the principal for not having AC :rotfl: ! Mind you, our building is about 80 years old!

Hi all-
Been busy doing paperwork this morning that I needed to do.
The kids started vacation bible school today for 3 hrs each day- goes until Friday. They LOVE VBS! They always look forward to it every yr.

Gotta get going on buying some school supplies soon! We have a back-to- school picnic next week and the kids drop off all their school supplies in the classrooms before the picnic starts. School starts Aug 22 by me. About 2weeks and 2 days away!

Mac- glad to see you here! Was wondering what happenend to you the last couple of days!

My birthday is next month, but I'll remind you all sometime later ;) .

Hi to all :wave2:

Hey guys - I got busted by the mods for posting the link to that contest. I didn't know that was against the rules. Oh well - let's just hope Jennifer can at least hold on through this round which ends Wed. at 5pm.

Thanks anyway for all your votes!
Melissa

:rotfl: you're a spring chicken!! :rotfl:

Back from Universal! We did mostly everything yesterday. Checked in at 7:30am at Royal Pacific, and surprisingly, they had a room ready for us! Unfortunately their printer wasn't working and they couldn't do room keys right then (which we needed for our FOTL) so we just went up to the room and relaxed for a half hour. Called a bit after 8am and they were ready so we got them and headed into IOA. It opened about 8:45am.

We did mostly everything here. Really FOTL was not needed in the morning. Did Hulk, Spiderman, all the water rides, Dueling Dragons, Poseidon, all the Seuss Rides, even Pteronodon Flyers (about a 15 minute wait early in the morning). Ate at Enchanted Oak for lunch. We'd seen a special at Mel's the previous day where if you used Mastercard and bought a large coke for $2.99 (normally $6.99), you got a souvenir glass free good for 69 cent refills. Well, they'd never heard of it there - they asked the manager who said he'd check. We said never mind and just got water. He later came out to our table and said it was only for certain restaurants, but he was surprised he hadn't heard of it and gave us 2 of them for free! So we used them both days (some places said same day only, but no one ever checked and other places didn't list that restriction) and refilled them many times in the 105 degree heat indices!

We then went back to RPR to "cool off" in the pool. However, the pool had to have been 100 degrees - not even remotely refreshing! We did play in the boat area (which had spraying water that was cooler) and the boys played some volleyball, but went back to take a cool shower (the showers were really nice) to cool off!

Around 5pm we went over to Margaritaville. This was okay, especially since we had 2 free dinner (movie/meal) passes that we'd gotten from someone, plus a free kids meal with adult purchase (thanks Jodie!!!) so we really only paid for 2 meals. It was very crowded and loud and we ate at a walkup table (they had a few set aside) since the regular wait was already nearly an hour.

In the evening we went into Universal Studios and it was PACKED. I really didn't think the FOTL passes were all they were cracked up to be. The lines were still long - granted shorter, but maybe 20 minutes versus 40-50 so it really didn't seem like you were getting that much out of the lines. Plus it was so hot it just seemed miserable. We did manage to do most of the rides there. (Everything except some of the shows, Shrek and Twister). Fun, but hot and crowded. Collapsed back at RPR around 9pm.

Today we packed up and got everything in the car before going to the parks around 9. Did everything we wanted to in IOA - skipped the water rides this time to avoid that wet, squishy feeling! Did everything else including Hulk 3 times and Dueling Dragons 3 times. Did some shopping and were ready for our reservation at Mythos as 11:30.

This restaurant was REALLY good. The atmosphere was good (I'd read how wonderful it was, but it just seemed okay to me. We did have a nice view of the park), but the food was incredible. DH had the Corvina (fish) which he said was great. I had the filet which was more than enough for me to give him a good percentage of. DS12 and 14 ordered off the kids' menu (and they would have let DS15) and got steak and hamburger respectively. DS12 got a buffalo chicken wrap. The dessert was the best part. I got one of the shot glass desserts (Chocolate mousse), but DH got a couple different ones, and the boys each got one, plus the rice krispie sushi from the kids' menu. We also got the AAA discount, so be sure to ask! The entire meal was under $100 including tax and tip, which is less than we'll pay Wed for basic breakfast at CP for the 5 of us. Yeah, I know it's a character meal, but still, for awesome food...!

After lunch we went over to US, and it was again even more packed. We did Shrek with a minimal wait (with the FOTL passes) and saw Animal Actors. We worked back to MIB, but the wait for lockers was incredible. Decided I'd wait with the stuff while the rest rode and then switch. Well, we did that okay (probably a 20 min wait with FOTL), but when we went to switch, it had become ridiculous. We waited about 10 minutes and were nowhere near the front (probably still 20 min more) so we just decided to skip it. Split up since some wanted to do Mummy and some Jimmy Neutron one more time (DH hadn't remembered the Dramamine this morning!), then headed back to the house. I think next time I'd skip RPR (we were still paying for the house as well) and just get there early on 2 days and do as much as we could at each park by noon.

Since then we've been relaxing in our (much cooler) pool and catching up on laundry and computer stuff!

Tomorrow is more surfing (yippee!), golf for DH and DS12, and Cirque in the evening, with possibly some Downtown Disney thrown in there!

i'll second that for us :yay:

i just didn't know that rule.

There is a plus side. If you drive, call your insurance company and tell them that you're 25 now (on 9/1) and ask for a rate reduction! :)

darkie is right.
insurance rates decrease when you turn 25....

just look at all the money you will be saving then starfish!

I didn't know it was a rule either. Maybe as long as the discussion was buried here with a few random posts, nobody cared (or noticed)... but when the thread that was only about the contest was started, that was a problem? :confused3

Who knows. I still voted. From the magazine's website, the link for the contest is at the bottom of the page so it isn't hard to find.

Gonna be another hot and sticky one today. Joshua is already bouncing off the walls in his excited-yet-nervous state about meeting his new teacher and getting to see inside his new ("big") school. I think that one of his Pre-K classmates is going to be in his class this year, but I haven't said anything to him yet... just in case.

And if turning 25 is old, then I don't think I want to know what I am... :rolleyes1
