Hi all-
I have my note, Mac :flower3:
I posted earlier this week. Anyways had parent/ teacher conferences this afternoon. It all went well :thumbsup2 Matthew almost made it in the gifted program for the jr. high level(he is in gifted now). But he didn't make the reading testing requirement, he was a few points shy of the reading testing percentage :guilty: He did real awesome on the math testing requirement(97%) :thumbsup2 Oh well. But he will be placed in a high math level for jr. high next Fall. :goodvibes

Hi Rose - tell Matthew we are all proud of him!

Everybody grab your Lysol and spray your monitor.

Daniel started running a fever night before last. When it got up to 103, even with Motrin, I hauled him to the doc as soon as they opened yesterday. A swab of the nose and a dunk in the test kit confirmed... the flu.

I got a call from the school nurse around noon yesterday to tell me that Joshua was running a fever. Yep, he's got it too.

We are all on Tamiflu. This is my first time catching the symptoms early enough to try it. According to Joshua, who has had just about every antibiotic and allergy med available, this is the bleechiest medicine EVER.

I am doing all I can to disinfect my house. I have washed everything I can wash and used Clorox wipes and sprayed Lysol on anything that didn't move. It is supposed to get into the upper 50s today, so hopefully I can open windows and air the place out for a few hours.

Tricia - looks likes its going to be a looong weekend for you. Don't let yourself get run down. Can't have a sick mommy too.

Hey youse...

Tricia sorry your wee fella's sick.

Can some one tell me....what is strep??

mac and bonny have given you the info on this.....but let me tell you its not pleasant. DD#1 has it now......gets it 2-3 times a year. She is going to the ENT on Monday, may be time to get her tonsils out now :guilty:

Hi all! Wish I could say positive things here to cheer everyone up, but sounds like we're all having pretty crummy weeks! :sad2:

I have been reading along so don't mark me as absent, just lower my participation grade! :lmao: Unfortunately, there's no news on the computer - yes, it made it to Zimbabwe (or wherever they sent it!) and may someday be actually looked at and sent back. Kids are not enthused about mom on their computer (or in their rooms); boss is not thrilled about DIS'ing on company time! :confused3 So I've been reading fast and not doing much else

Today's bad news. Not as bad as Barb's, but Matt's car was hit this morning in the parking lot. Since it was parked legally at the time, and he was in fact already in his class, he can't be particularly at fault. But when the officer called me, they kind of said that it was minor bumper damage and that they'd like me to get some estimates today and see if they could let the other girl (who reported the damage - thank goodness!) and her family settle it on their own.

Well, took it for the first estimate and it was over $1800! :scared1: And the second estimate was higher! :sad2: Yes, it wasn't just the bumper, but she also hit the door and the side panel between them which were all dented in, so of course for labor, and replacing about 1/3 of the car's parts, etc. it adds up quickly. And both places recommended that since the tire was hit as well (which won't need repairs) that we need to get it aligned as well. Frustrating because it looks like minor damage but costs a fortune to repair! And they can't get it in until early March.

Now we have to deal with her parents tonight whose first thought is going to be why the heck she told anybody and didn't leave (I don't know if there were witnesses). I do know according to Matt her car was pretty bad too, so I'm guessing that insurance is going to have to get involved. Doubt they'll want to pay $3000 out of pocket, even to keep their premiums down. Ugh - I pretty much spent the entire day at car dealers or the school. After spending last Friday (my last day off) dealing with MY car. I'm not happy, can you tell?

Well, sorry to be so down - hope some of you are having better weeks and everyone have a great weekend! It's like 22 and sunny here and feels like summertime! :beach:

Good afternoon homies

Wow, Barb, that looks nasty! TG your hubs wasn't injured.

I will do what I can to bring some warmth up north when we return, but I've not had good luck with that in the past... I try every time!

Well wishes to all the little ones who've caught the nasties.

i've spent the day calling my creditors...bank 'messed up' & none of my online pmts were sent last month:confused3 :crazy2: , wondered where all the month came from lol...set off bells & whistles in me mind

bank admitted fault & told me call & explain the mess & tell them a letter would be forthcoming...every one of the companies said no problem, no letter required:cool1: , any fees assessed would be cheerfully refunded:badpc: . now im scared to use the service again, bank was gobbled up via TARR money, going out of business in a few months...think it's time to jump ship:bitelip: eeeeeee

HI all-

Sharon, yes I will tell Matthew that you are proud of him :goodvibes thanks!

Here are a couple of band concert pics of Matthew from the band concert last week. He plays clarinet. DH took the pics since he had the better angle.

This pic is a little dark.

Matthew won Homer and some other small stuffed characters lately at a game place for a scout night. Doh!!

Something tells me one of the band teachers is passing the baton so to speak to the other band teacher. No announcement yet, but you never know. My hunch might be wrong, so I'll guess he will have a different band teacher next yr.

Hi Rose - I don't know about you, but I have very few good photos from band concerts.

It's usually too dark and I'm too far away I guess. But I never quit trying...much to the chagrin of my husband!

Because my two kids are so far apart in ages, we had like 14 years in a row of band concerts. :upsidedow DD played the flute so she was in the front row, but DS played percussion so was usually in the very back unless he was on the drumset. I kinda miss it now...:sad2:

Only Matthew is in band, Chrissy is not, so DH and I look forward to Matthew's concerts. I'm hoping Chrissy will join something once she gets into jr. high- maybe choir, but I don't know :confused3
Percussion and drums are also way back for us as well. Our jr. high has bleachers, so parents can sit far up to see their child on percussions, etc.

speaking of band, my ds13 and his friend will both be new band members starting next semester. They hate the asst principal who is the lunch posse, so they've been going to the band room to hang out.

The band director started asking them to bring their cellos with them and they will be playing as part of the brass section. He's so excited.:thumbsup2

Gonna go lie down. Got approval for chiro and well, he said I'd be sore...:upsidedow

Well I guess I survived the kids with me today, day off from school. :scared:
Waiting for DH to come home from work.

Tricia- hope the boys and you get better :grouphug:
It's not fun when everyone is sick. BTDT with the stomach flu 4 yrs ago :sad2:
Barb- pics look nasty! Glad your DH is doing well :grouphug:

Marcie- sorry to hear Matt's car was hit :grouphug: Hope the damages won't be to expensive.

HI to all :wave2:

Have a good night all.

Cool! :cool1:

I don't particularly care for our new school principal at my kids' elementary school, so I know how your ds and friend feel. :)

marcie, just read about son's car..........ouch

does it run?

you guys are so lucky the girl reported what she did.
not all teens would be brave enough to face the consequences.

so now you are down 2 cars? or did you get yours fixed up last month?

car trouble, teen trouble, kid trouble, bills, what to fix for dinnner...........all the same headache :crazy2:

HI Mac!

Woo Hoo, I just passed my 1,000th post!!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Yeah, we did tell the officer and her parents to thank her for being honest. However, we weren't there so I don't know if there were a lot of other students saw it (it was right before school started) so she really didn't have a choice or if she just reported it on her own. Either way, definitely good for us because I don't think our insurance would have just believed us that Matt's car was just sitting there and someone hit it. :rolleyes1 Royce talked to her dad this afternoon and they're going through insurance, so we filed a preliminary report with our insurance company.

All the damage is cosmetic, which is good because the body shop can't get it in for a month. But both places I went to assured me it was fine to drive in the meantime. Because the passenger's door is dented in, whenever you open it the metal catches and it makes a loud "click/bang" type sound. But since they're replacing both those parts, I guess that's why.

And my car's fine now that I paid them $1500! :rolleyes2 So we aren't short until we have to get Matt's into the shop for 3 days come March.

And hey, it broke 30 degrees today so we grilled steaks outdoors for dinner! :thumbsup2
