homies, bring a note from home to excuse your absence.

you are missed here!

I quoted myself...I was here yesterday (or the day before?)

Anyhows..it's cold. I hate cold. DH was in car wreck yesterday...he's okay, car is total loss.... :sad2: Now, we wait for check from ins. co. and buy him a new one... I hate car shopping in the cold. Did I mention I HATE the cold??

On a happier note...almost all the ressies we need to make for vacation are made: airfare ($417 r/t for the 3 of us on SW :cool1: ), hotel @ airport, PBH and rental car. Only thing left is transportation from PBH to MCO. Almost done.....

So, that's my note...do with it whatcha feel is best ;)

Hi to everyone :wave2: Be well.

Another cold night here in sunny Florida...my plants were killed last week but my orange tree is fine. :thumbsup2

My FIL said it was cold....20s maybe? He lost a lemon tree to frost years ago....those oranges are troopers...seem to survive every time. :confused3

Yeah...it didn't get as cold here last night as they were saying but Ocala and points north were in the low 20's. Tonight it's supposed to be around 30 here and another freeze warning for just about everyone.

DH spoke to FIL about an hour ago.... FIL said houses down there just aren't built for those temps! Gotta agree....I think they're built to stay cool... :rotfl:

Metro, i know this cold weather is probably killing you and all the other locals.
once a person is used to a warm climate change, it's awful to have to deal with cold temps !!

my brother in Hawaii came to visit with me in early October once.
it was 47 one morning and he thought he was going to freeze. he said he'll never come back in october again....

i'm glad the orange tree is still hanging in there.

donald, just tell yourself that wimp mac who says really bad words when i needle is near her, managed to get the knee drained without embarrasing herself.

just think to yourself, if mac can do it, i can do it.

you are correct, when the needle hits the bone it is ouchie time....
but with the skin being numbed up with that spray and having novacaine put in after that, it did take away the worse pain for the draining needle went in under the skin.

that needle has a flat head and is BIG.

doc thinks i will have to have the knee drained again within the next 2 weeks.
damn

Donald, if your knee is getting worse now, see a doc.
if you stay swollen and have excess fluid around the knee, the joints ache so much you want to cry.

when you go and if you have it done, think of something that will take your mind off of it.

most men think of sex.

think of some enhanced poster gal but if your wife is with you, think about fishing. if you started to drool when you have your knee drained and daisy was with you, she might ask what in the world are you thinking.

whatever you do, just say, fishing.......:rolleyes1

or she might slug you and then you would be hurting.

Your right, just make daisey mad,let her slug me,that should deverte the pain>>:lmao: But it still hurts like heck..

The other thing is the pipes freezing. I know it takes a lot of very cold weather for pipes to freeze but I also think some of the pipes here aren't built like the ones in colder climates. Just a quess though. :confused3

Yeah...once you live in a warm climate and your blood thins, you can't tolerate cold temps. Luckily...this is hopefully the last very cold night for the year...I hope.

:rotfl: MY blood is already thin! I feel the cold no matter what... I think of myself as a Floridian trapped in PA! :p

What do you do for your pipes? Just let them drip/run low? I think we have copper pipes here...can't imagine you don't have the same?

to keep pipes from freezing, let one of your faucets have a slow drip.

no issue of a pipe bursting then.

I haven't done anything to mine and have had no problems...knock on wood. My pipes froze in Virginia once so I know it has to be below freezing for a long time...over a period of days for them to really be trouble. I don't know what kind of pipes I have here. The house was replumbed in the early 90's according to the disclosure form when I closed. I don't think it will get as cold tonight as it did last night so I feel pretty good.

You know that we have had a cold winter when our tap water is getting real cold. I love the cold but this is getting alittle out of hand for S. Florida.:upsidedow

Hi all-
I have my note, Mac :flower3:
I posted earlier this week. Anyways had parent/ teacher conferences this afternoon. It all went well :thumbsup2 Matthew almost made it in the gifted program for the jr. high level(he is in gifted now). But he didn't make the reading testing requirement, he was a few points shy of the reading testing percentage :guilty: He did real awesome on the math testing requirement(97%) :thumbsup2 Oh well. But he will be placed in a high math level for jr. high next Fall. :goodvibes
Getting better from my head cold :)
Kids are off of school tomorrow, again  They are going to drive me crazy again tomorrow-ugh.

Mac- :grouphug: for your knee.

Janet- :grouphug: for your dmother's knee.

Barb- sorry to hear of DH's accident. Glad he is doing ok :grouphug:

HI to all :wave2:

It really has been cold here the last few days, but we are supposed to be warming up :cool1: The bus came 10 min late coming home today and i was freezing waiting for the kids to come home.

Who is all for taking Al Gore and stripping him naked and putting him on the beach in FL about now and asking him to tell us about global warming?:thumbsup2

Hi to everyone :wave2: Be well.
Glad your hubby is okay.

And good deal on the airfare.:thumbsup2

For pipes that are the outside of the house, like the kitchen area, open the cabinets so that the warm house air can enter. Yeah...once you live in a warm climate and your blood thins, you can't tolerate cold temps. Luckily...this is hopefully the last very cold night for the year...I hope.

rose - thanks for the good wishes for ma

barb - so scary...cars can be replaced, husbands can't

scratch that...good husbands can't:goodvibes

good luck on the car hunt, i hate the whole process:crazy2: yet have a feeling ull have the salesman beat down by the end of the deal lol

yikes - donald u too? let's see, mac & donald...these type of things run in 3's...who next? nobody i hope;)

okay outdoor pipes 101 from DH the plumber w/o papers (or so sez the US Navy):

to keep from freezing:

* wrap heat tape (@ hardware store) around the pipe

to unthaw:

* use hairdryer

yes, u can:thumbsup2 ...don't stand in a puddle:p

forgot to congrat barb on the airfare:cool1: :cheer2: pixiedust:

glad somebody shot & scored:thumbsup2
