Something About Nothing............ #14

Got fam coming to do the Jax Zoo holiday festivals and we'll put a bug in their ears for our next trip. They still have littles so MK is the usual stop but now some are old enough to appreciate HP and Marvel and not just Dr Seuss.
We've done enough holidays in WDW for now. Maybe next year for the Art Festival or F&G.

Many peeps love going to the zoo.
I did my time when my 4 boys were young and was glad when they out grew that stage.

It was great fun for a few years but was replaced with comic book conventions.

Two of my sons were runners and would take off in different directions anywhere we went.

One son and his wife are expecting a baby boy soon.
Have a feeling the boy will be an early runner.
This makes me smile…

Geeze it's been a hot minute since I checked in.

Worked my shifts in homecare on Wednesday & Thursday. I had Friday off as a vacation day - so I have an extra long weekend!!! And I have been enjoying every minute of it!

The weather has been glorious! But I have the feeling that we will be paying for this beautiful weather later this winter. Hopefully by then, we will be able to focus on a warm winter vacation (s) that we want to do this winter.

Dh and ds were successful in their hunting yesterday. They got one of the smaller game deer that they had tags for. They are out scouting again for the bigger game we have a tag for. They just headed back out to see if they will find them at dusk.

I headed out for a walk earlier today. I had to take advantage of the beautiful weather. Now I'm going to make some french onion soup and with fresh buns for sandwiches for when the hunters get home. I always try to make belly warming meals when when they return.

I used to when I stayed home with the kids. Now it's just easier and cheaper to buy the jarred one. I found a favorite one that we like - and on busy week nights - it's just easier! Although this year I did make and jar my own red pasta sauce with tomatoes I grew over the summer. I turned out delicious!!!!

I didn't go to any services here in our town - but I did watch the service that was held in Ottawa. And if you are out ANYWHERE at 11:11 - everything stops and everywhere you hear the song (Last Post and Reveille) for everyone to acknowledge and give a moment of silence. Even our radio stations play it so traffic can stop.

Dh has 2 men on his crew who were army men and served overseas. They are the same of your dh. Both of them have trained/work with our sons. They have told the boys a few stories of their time served. Dh and the boys have alot respect for them. They are great guys - and amazing at training newbies!!!! and for that - I am grateful for them.

:lovestruc wow...that is beautiful

I told dh the same thing - once he's done hunting - we will have a couple of boring months until it starts again!!! I'm just sad that #24 or #05 didn't pull out the big win. But Byron - has an amazing year!!!!!!!!

Well, I should get going - I need to pick up some broth for dinner tonight, I think I'll take another stroll to the store since the grocery store is close.

Have a great day everyone!

Glad you had some lovely weather for your long weekend, I think despite us being on completely different continents, our weather is similar at times....

Yes, those boys would be ready for something warming after that and glad they got something, Tom loves venison....I like it, but sometimes it`s a little too gamey for me, so I do tend to do it in a sauce. Soup and rolls sounds lovely.

Yes, everything stops for the two minute silence here whether you`re in a grocery store or walking in the street, as it should be.

Have a good week Pumpkin :)

Usually order food out on the weekends but Mr Mac decided to change our usual schedule around.

He went to Publix and picked up a few pork steaks.
Turned out to be nice for a change of regular menu.

Think we will do this more often.
Have been bored with pizza weekends.

Weather has been good for us and will miss the warm weather at the end of this month.
December could be warm or cold, too soon to know yet.

Looks like some of you will be heading to Florida later this month.
Sending Mummy dust to all it will be warm weather while you are there.

whoever comes last to the sans needs to leave the light on tonight so no snubbed toes.

You`ve put pork in my mind.......so, will do us a pork fillet tonight, will marinade it in some nice ingredients and make it spicy too!!

I need that light in the mornings mac, doesn`t get light here till around 7ish in the morning, yes, don`t want a stubbed toe!

We have a horrible day ahead, rain with high winds later this morning, so will get out early this morning and be home before the high winds start, possibly up to 60mph winds and more rain, it`s bouncing down right now...sorry boring weather forecast!! But, very different from yesterday morning which was cold, but beautiful.

Lady has cancelled my leg wax appointment today due to weather, but changed it for an early one tomorrow which works for us. So today, not so busy now, the weather has changed our plans for this afternoon, so will be home instead. I have a few more little decorations to put up, so can potter around doing that and a few other little jobs I can do.

Will do the pork fillet tonight, honey, soy, ginger, garlic and some spice, lunch will be BLT`s I`ll add avocado on mine, I think the ones I have might be ripe enough and toast for breakfast with some fruit and marmalade. Kettle is already boiled for my first tea of the day.

It sounds so miserable out there......☔

But, have a lovely Monday whatever you may be doing :)

Ooh weather lady said cold and clear as first words out when saying weather report. Well yeah, last of trash toss was like I wish I was a faster runner. 28 degrees showed on our outdoor thermometer. But always like to see that predawn clear sky. And thankfully, warmer, as even with that closer to the winter season, will be 60 degrees this late afternoon. Sunglasses to rock on my lunchtime walk. And my lightweight winter jacket.

Ah that Monday feeling. Yeah, heard DH up. I’m like what time is it? He said it’s either 3am or 4 am. Looked at my watch. It’s 3 am. Sigh. I did get back to sleep a little. But was up before our 4:30 am alarm. Nap in this late afternoon? Maybe. At least a long hot shower and my tea made it more acceptable to be up in this early hour. And hehe, booked that before dawn down flight. I just am, almost always, an early bird. Plus, early flight then makes it an almost full day of fun.

Laptop fired up nicely, so back to it I go. Hope all have the most Marvelous Monday today. And hope you have a much warmer start than me. Mac, I know you will. And yep, hoping our December trip is much warmer than usual.

Ooh refill number three. Yep, that restless bedmate I get some nights.

What a miserable day!!! Wind is howling and the rain is swirling around us, trees are swaying like they`re dancing and it`s cold!

Lady came to wax my legs after all, Tom got his delivery and I got mine finally, but they`re both here before we leave as one is a gift. I`m so glad we`re in though, house is cosy and warm and our sitting room is dark enough for one lamp to be on. So, yes, with my early Christmas Yankee Candle burning too, it is very cosy.

I love being in on days like this :)

Happy Monday. Nothing much going on here. Dh and I are trying to think ahead to college bowl games. We know our team will be going to one, we just don’t know which one yet. We have decided that we will attend if it is one we can drive to within reason.

Charade, they tend to show AP rates around 2 months out. I’d just keep checking.
I’ll keep looking. The September AP rates were released really early this year. I was hoping they would do the same for January.

I'm just sad that #24 or #05 didn't pull out the big win. But Byron - has an amazing year!!!!!!!!
Maybe next year will be his year.

Got fam coming to do the Jax Zoo holiday festivals and we'll put a bug in their ears for our next trip.
I love visiting zoos. B and I used to go to Zoo Atlanta every year. I’m sad because all the giant pandas in the US have to be returned to China.

Sounds like a great day to stay inside with a cozy blanket and a good book or movie.

Almost forgot to mention - yesterday a woman contacted me through Ancestry.com because we matched as possible relatives. I chatted with her via text this morning. We share great grandparents.

Well, it's Monday and time to play catch up:)

Schumi: It sounds like you are having awful weather with those very high winds and rain. It's a good day to stay in and watch movies, and maybe pack???? I know, you have a few days left, so......

I have started laying clothes out on the spare bed and can't believe all of these clothes are necessary! I will have to sort through them and eliminate some, but probably not. I always think, but what if I need that? And I will bring 3 pairs of shoes to switch off if my PF acts up. I know we will feel silly when we arrive at MCO in our jackets and jeans and long sleeve tshirts. I do hope our room is ready so we can change and get into warm weather clothes.

Charade: 82 degrees sounds heavenly. We are having a warm spell this week up to 50 degrees! It's nice outside now with sunshine. Love it. I love football and watch a lot of it, but never cared for it as a young wife. My 96 y/o Mom loves it too and also watches college ball. She knows all the up and comers in college, and we talk a lot of football:)

Keishashadow: Thank you for those wonderful WW2 photos. And bless your Dad and Husband for their service. It must have been very emotional to visit the actual ship your Dad was on. I hope your son is doing better with his diverticulitis with the antiobiotics. Sometimes you wonder about the state of health care! Our grandson lost 30 lbs in one month with not being able to keep any food in and when they were going to schedule him for a colonoscopy they told him it would be in 3 weeks!!!!! He told them he wouldn't be Here in 3 weeks and needed to be seen now. That worked, and it was the truth. He was very sick. Like your son, he is on antibiotics and doing better.

Robo: I loved your Veterans Day Memes, so patriotic and beautiful.

Schumigirl: I wanted to thank you for all the wonderful Veterans/Remembrance Day observances that you went to., as well as others on the SANs. So many of us have been touched by the loss of loved ones in WW2 and VietNam. Doing these things to honor them brings it all home as to how much they sacrificed for us to be here.

We have 2 weeks before we leave for Universal and it seems to be moving quickly, LOL. Hopfully I won't need more than a huge suitcase for our 3 full days and 2 half days visit! I really try to scale down on the packing, but just can't do it. I don't like to do laundry while on vacation, so that's part of it. My husband doesn't even comment on my packing anymore. He just shakes his head and carries all the huge suitcases out. Love him:)

Everyone have a great week.

ruth

Disney, pack shirts and a T shirt in your carry on bag. I change to shorts in the airport bathroom when I arrive. Change to pants on the way back, after I get through security. Have my shades ready in my bag too. We have 3 more weeks before we arrive.

Walk at lunchtime was fine. Warmer, and so so sunny.

It really has been the cosiest of days, apart from a brief moment we thought we were going to lose some of our trees closest to the house, but they`re fine. This storm will be gone by midnight tonight thankfully.

How lovely, it`s a fascinating subject and wonderful when you make connections like that.

lol....I`ll pack Wednesday night, I`m so last minute!! I admire you`ve already got your clothes looked out....we`re lucky with the flight as we walk down a skywalk in the morning to the terminal, we don`t need to go outside at all, so we can wear clothes that suit Orlando, not a fan of changing in bathrooms at all......you don`t know what`s been on the floor!!

I`m a fan of bringing more than I need too.....I could never just bring a backpack, even if I was only staying a week, it would be a full suitcase! I am going to try though....do I really need 47 dresses.....lol.....I will have my hoodie for cooler nights, don`t think we`ll be as lucky as we were in 2021 when we never once wore anything extra at night as stayed war, that was a surprise. We`ll be prepared though. You won`t be the only ones with warmer stuff Ruth, it won`t be long till you can get changed.

Yes, where would we be without our ever loving husbands who just smile and take the suitcases for us.....I can see Tom thinking good grief look at all those clothes, but just smiles and never says a word......bless them!!!

I do think we all need to acknowledge and honour veterans/armed forces. Some are quite diesmissive and seem to have better things to do, but the services here are beautiful, very sombre but very reverent.

Glad your GS is still improving, good to hear. Will be in touch before we leave :)

Hello homies
long time since I have posted cause so much going on with my health and with family members that I haven't had the time but I will try to catch up and be on more often.

Welcome back St Lawrence!!!! It`s good to see you back, it has been too long. I`m sorry to hear your health and families health hasn`t been so good, but we haven`t forgotten you, hope you and your good lady are doing better :)

Storm still brewing, but should be gone pretty soon, we`re down to 40mph winds and I think the rain is lessening. It`s still nice to be inside all the same with nowhere to go.

Pork was beautiful, very spicy and went with lo mein instead of planned sides, worked nicely with the sauce. Tonight is a very lazy night, I could be doing something I`m sure, but we`re schmoozing up on the sofa watching a tv show called Shetland. I love Scotland, but could not live way up there......too remote even for me!!

Dentist tomorrow to get the stitches out, then we`ve decided to have Charcuterie boards for dinner tomorrow night, will pop into our deli in the morning and get what we need and then the fishmonger for some smoked salmon and langoustines too. Might bake some rosemary bread if I have time, but looking forward to that already!!!

I think we`ll empty the dishwasher then settle down in front of the telly......

Gosh, quiet last night.....may be everyone was out partying......or maybe not!

It`s still raining here, it is still bouncing down outside and still cold.

Popping out this morning to do store collection for a facial spray sunscreen I have been recommended to try, very fine mist and you can put it on over make up and it doesn`t disturb it, so will see if it`s worth it. Then onto my dental appointment to get the stitches out, that won`t take long, few bits of shopping then back home for lunch.

Looking ahead if the weather stays as it is forecast, we`ll be taking off on Friday in heavy rain, and we love taking off like that!

Steaks tonight for dinner, Kyle is joining us so we`ll get filets for him and I and Tom will get a T Bone or whatever he fancies when we go into the butcher`s, so no Charcuterie as planned, we didn`t know Kyle was coming for dinner at that point, much prefer to have dinner with him anyway. Lunch will be spicy chicken in a wrap with some lettuce and tomatoes when we get back home.

Going to need my umbrella for sure though.....kettle is boiling, so almost time for the first pot of tea for the day.

Have a lovely Tuesday ☺️

Ah Taco Tuesday it is. Day to enjoy a taco at home or at a favorite taco place.

At least above freezing this morning. But only by three degrees. 53 degrees the high, and with that high weather system still in place, those clear skies doesn’t make any warmth from the sun stay around after sunset this time of year. But so enjoying days like today, full day of sunshine soon enough.

Ah, yay for Schumi having a few more days before her trip. Nice, as planes fly in rainy weather, most of the time. I hope the weather while away, is nice and warm.

And so, up and already online. Should have been my commuting day, but as in person training I get to talk in, and then listen, so that dark predawn commuting will be tomorrow. Camel will be not amused, as will be another cool start tomorrow. And not much warmer. Actually, same high as today, but with clouds seen tomorrow. Then our Thursday is to be that wall to wall sunshine again day. But at least my lazy day Friday has a 10 degree higher high temp. Ooh and haircut this week too. Yay! Love that hair salon pampered feeling.

Hope all have a great morning, and a most Terrific Taco Tuesday. For now, the only T word for me today, is tea.

Looks like Florida weather will start behaving after the weekend. Nor'Easter til then, breezy cool and wet.
Trying to surprise DW with a short trip but she keeps making plans.
Probably have to wait til after Thanksgiving.
Catch up on baking shows today with hot chocolate and the ever present dachshunds.
Good morning to all.

And it's back to work and Taco Tuesday!!!!

We woke up to a little blanket of the white stuff yesterday. It won't be here for long I don't think - as the forecast is calling for above freezing again on Thursday. It was a little slippery driving to work this morning. But it sure makes me happy that I had talked dh into getting my winter tires for my Izzy - it sure makes driving on that slick new snow/ice easier.

I enjoyed my last day at home yesterday! All in all - it was a relaxing weekend. I got some baking done. Made some delicious meals for the family , and got some corners dusted out.

I have chicken out to defrost for dinner tonight. I'm not quite sure how I'm going to make it yet - but I always get that figured out last minute. I'm thinking maybe bang bang chicken done in the airfryer, with a zuccini veg medley and some fried potatoes that were left over from the weekend.

Well, off to shuffle some papers. My tea is long gone - and I'm sure thinking I could use another one. I might have to make a quick drive and pick another one up.

Edited to add:

I whipped up pub nachos and wings last night and we enjoyed Volume 3 of Guardians of the Galaxy last night to finish off our long weekend. DH asked who I was feeding with the amount of food I made - ummmm we cleaned most of it up except for a small bit of the nachos :o We must have been hungry lol.

Have a great day everyone!!!!

Good afternoon. Today the sky is hazy and full of smoke. There are 150 acres on fire in my county today. I hope they can get that under control soon. I don’t like rain, but we could really use some right now.

I see that Schumi, Disney, and Lynne are all headed for Orlando soon. I wish I could go too I need another break from dealing with these insurance problems. Hopefully I will get a quick getaway next month.

When I travel during the colder months I usually stuff my jacket in my suitcase and wait until I get to the hotel to change clothes. I do keep a set of clothing in my carry on though. You never know when your luggage may not make it to your destination with you.

Today B is 23. Tonight we will go out to eat and then to a movie. We really celebrated last week when we went to then Celtic Thunder concert. I may stop by Kroger on my way home and pick up a small cake.

I love Bang Bang Chicken, nice to make your own version too, much better usually than restaurants. Baking and cooking are the perfect way to spend a spare day!

Snow!!!! No.....isn`t it still too early!! I wish.

Yes, Ruth and I will be enjoying Universal soon and we get to meet up which will be lovely.

Both of us have some clothes in hand luggage too, just in case, enough to do us a couple of days if need be. Makes sense and doesn`t take up much room.

Enjoy your dinner and movie tonight.

Stitches out today, took only a few seconds and not a bit of pain which is always good!!

Rain finally stopped and it was lovely for a couple of hours, but darkness was here before we knew it, and not as cold as it was yesterday.

Dinner was quite early tonight, but steaks were lush!!! Made them a chocolate fondant each for dessert, could have worked out better, but clean plates all round. He also said most of the cookies I made are gone, only about 20 left which I`m sure his colleagues will finish them off tomorrow.

Will get some cleaning done tomorrow, not sure why I do that as it really doesn`t need doing, but our housesitters do a good job at keeping the place immaculate. Then in the afternoon, we`ll start packing.

Pot of tea is on the way, feet up time!

A very happy birthday to B. Woot! 23 now.

Kids went out and ate at Sheetz for lunch. Thought food was good. Wish they were closer to us, but not that far away. They said a lot of truckers were eating there with them. Keisha probably has more out her way than me.

Chicken for dinner, I think. Have a pack in the freezer, so have to get it out soon.

Beautiful day, weather wise.

one of these days I swear I will make here before the sun sets in the evening.

You`re having some busy days though, always good to see you post!!

Pitch black outside, but going to be not too bad a day for us, little breezy but no rain.

I have a list of things I need to get and do today, won`t take long as I can get what I need in the village, then some housework and finally tonight, we pack!!!

Tom and I getting pizza delivered tonight, no cooking, always get takeout the night before we leave and the night we come back so pizza it is tonight.

Time for tea....... 🫖

Have a lovely Wednesday ☺️
