Something About Nothing............ #14

Rain and it`s cold, that`s my weather....short and sweet..or not so sweet!!

Been a busy morning for us, but when a friend needs help, we`re there and glad to do it.

Tomorrow we`re driving further up North to meet some friends and their daughter who we haven`t seen for a long time, Kyle has a few days off to use some vacation time so he is coming up with us too, will be a nice day out together. So not much going on today,

We did have a fabulous sleep with the new bedding and new duvet too......nothing like new bedding all freshly laundered.

Had a very early breakfast of toast, so lunch is going to be grilled sandwiches with Brie, turkey and cranberry, dinner will be pork fillet done with some Indian spices for a change.

Going to catch up with some friends too and that`s always nice.

Time for a pot of tea before it`s lunchtime.

Have a lovely Tuesday ☺️

Have fun tomorrow with your mini meet up

Thanks mac.....their daughter and Kyle are the same age and we lived in Scotland at the same time, so they knew each other as babies and have only seen each other a handful of times in their lives, but they have always kept in touch now and again. So, they do consider themselves friends. It should be fun apart from the drive up there and back!!!

God bless them all. Something’s just gotta give:sad:

It`s just heartbreaking and terrifying.

Before Kyle started school we had the Dunblane shootings, I think we`ve spoken about that, something that should never happen again. God bless indeed.

Rainy day, supposed to reach 50, then snow. Hello Spring, my old friend.

won’t keep me from heading out for a few errands. Having youngest DS for dinner when he picks up his kitties this evening. hope to be inspired at the grocery store. Nothing is coming to mind.

I was only a child and my Mom would not let me see it, even into teenager years! When I finally watched it, it made me not want to take showers, LOL. Gotta love those old scary movies.
lol there was no such thing as “babysitters” in my era as a child. My parents were ardent moviephiles, would drag us along. I spent many a evening with a hand clapped over my eyes so I didn’t get “scarred” lol. Little did they know the audio was enough to curl my toes :). Did foster a life-long love of that genre
I don’t think Janet was born yet when that movie Psycho came out September 1960
Well, thank you for that :)

I will not confirm or deny the veracity of that statement:tiptoe:

let’s just say I was too young to remember viewing Psycho when it was released. it’s funny that when I would actually view the same movies when much older, the scary scenes would never be quite as vibrant as what my imagination dreamed up.

expect for the master, Hitchcock, he got me every time. Not as much gore, that delicious psychological terror at which he excelled, Psycho being the best of the batch :)
Though do to chemical spill in river, was told to not drink tap water right now. While I boil the water for my tea, still used water from a bottle, just to feel safer. Sigh. Between that chemical spill, another derailment, heard news of spilling chemicals into another area, third time hearing such happening. When will the chemical companies become being more responsible to our rivers and lands, and have an update to our rail system, ever happen? Off soap box
Saw that, sorry. gotta love the feel free to drink the tap water, it’s perfectly safe edict :rolleyes1 . here, they’ve been quick enough to put up the series of yellow absorbants to contain when it happens. In the city, multiple issues with the actual lines themselves in violation in certain neighborhoods. Interestingly enough, the older affluent ones vs the hood.

I’m just glad we get our supply from an underground river/aquifer, even tho our water is ridiculously hard. life is a series of tradeoffs lol

Ahh, the sort of heavenly respite you never want to climb out of on a chilly eve

Not the same for psychological tension, but two of my favourite Hitchcock movies are Marnie and Strangers on a Train. Ideal Sunday afternoon viewing, the camera angles he insisted upon work so well, not forgetting Dial M for Murder, certainly not in the same league terror wise as Psycho, but up there.

I found out a few years back I caused my lovely niece J to have nightmares for the longest time after I was babysitting her and let her watch The Lost Boys......lol....I didn`t think it was that bad!!! Ooops. On the plus side I also take credit for introducing her to Madonna....who was quite normal back then!!

Oh I struggled to get up this morning......well, more struggled to physically get out of that cosy bed!

Enjoy your dinner with DS tonight, you`ll make something lovely!!

It`s still raining and still cold here.

I also dropped a tall glass filled with iced water on the kitchen floor, shattered everywhere, we have Flagstones so it shattered into a million pieces! Another oops. Cleaned it up and hopefully got every sliver of glass. Second glass this week I`ve broken, the other one was a wine glass I shattered as we emptied the dishwater! I`m becoming so careless!

Ended up going with the honey/mustard/soy/garlic mix for the pork fillet tonight, I use English mustard and it`s hot enough so it doesn`t need any other spice. Steaming some cauliflower, carrots and red peppers to go with it, wish it was dinner time already!

More tea to keep me going I think....... 🫖

That winter not so nice four letter word for you, Janet? Eeek. At least with next chance of rain here, should be in the mid 70’s. I won’t break out the shorts yet, but both my kids have. Well older one rarely wears pants, unless it’s blessedly cold. He’s in shorts almost every day of the year. Little one has been in shorts every so often lately. Know she will most likely be in shorts today. Yep, my Northern born kids, definitely get the shorts out when above 50 degrees.

Ooh almost my lunchtime walk soon enough. Fog is gone, and I guess many of the clouds. So sunny and bright out now. As will be around 50 degrees at lunchtime, I’ll be in my sweatshirt jacket and rocking those shades. Woot! Last week of March. And end of next week, week days, we will end on a train. Second woot!

All hail the cool Aunt :worship:

lost boys is a great movie, Kiefer and all :)

just enough to be annoying this time of year. ever since I bough a snow plow thingie a good five years ago, have only had to use it once. Sits in the garage collecting dust, however, worth it…my no-sno talisman

I am officially the coolest Aunt around.......or so I make them all tell me 🥴

I`m not the biggest fan of Kiefer Sutherland now, and being honest I don`t really know why I don`t watch him in anything, but that movie was class!! She did begin to appreciate horror movies early and that has done her well as she watches them with no fear, just enjoyment!

I really should go do something........I have the music channels with videos on in the kitchen, all 70`s and 80`s and I`m kinda glued to this sofa right now......looking outside, it is brightening up slightly, but not the brightest of days.

Blondie is singing her little heart out right now......when she finishes I`ll move.....:rolleyes1

It's that taco Tuesday feeling kind of day.

Very chilly here this morning. Seems old man winter wants to make sure we know he is still around. But the sun is shinning brightly - so it will warm up for the afternoon at least. I'll take the sunshine ::yes::

Quiet night last night. Picked up a few groceries for the week on my way home - and whipped up an easy supper - even if it wasn't the most healthy thing to eat...it sure was tasty! I did take out some chicken to defrost. I'm not quite sure what I'm going to make with it yet though.

And ah, at least I’m not in the area where poor water conditions are in, by early last night. So while we don’t drink tap water that much, at least we think our water has a good taste.
We are blessed here with mountain water fed river water where our water comes from. I'm very grateful for the area it comes from where it is not easily contaminated with anything.

Sounds like a nice little get together. Have fun!

My heart broke when I seen the reports on it.

But do you really need to " do something"?????? :scratchin Some days - we just need those lazy days ::yes::

Alright....time to head out for lunch

Have a great afternoon everyone!

I agree, if the sun is shining, it just feels so much better!

We have good tap water here, when I hear how bad some folks water is, we feel very grateful to have such good water to drink.

I do have some time every day where I do "nothing" it might be sitting down and opening the ipads or laptop and drone through the internet, or just simply sit and read. But, yes there are days where Tom and I will sit and watch some movies.....as long as all our housework is done I`m happy to do that......yep, lazy is nice at times....or selective participation which sounds much better!!!

Not a bad day for a drive up, I wouldn`t do this for everyone as we won`t actually be spending that much time with them, but they`re worth it even for a quick visit. Will be back home tonight and will get some shopping in too.

Early breakfast for us, then setting off!

Happy Wednesday :sunny:

That noisy laser sounding bird is at it again. He knows it’s going to be a nice day. At least he’s not next to my window, but he is loud, and close. And good thing we are early risers. Heard our neighbor as was also noisy when he tossed glass and metal trash in his trash can about an hour ago. His cans are on the side of our house, and I can see those cans from my one bedroom window.

Ooh in this pre dawn, who do we see?

9C213EB3-F366-421E-AEFE-C8AE8D9E956E.jpeg

Aw,this sweet camel is ready for this glorious sunny day we will be having. Yep, the last Wednesday in March is here, and get over this hump feeling middle of the week, and you get in 2 days thst month ending fabulous Friday feeling in two more days. Woot!

Weather. Yep, as the sky cleared in the overnight, we are so perfectly clear, can see 16 miles away. And you’d be wearing a lightweight winter jacket, as it’s above freezing right now. And that sun will do its job, and heat us up more than 20 degrees, 56 the high this late afternoon. Ah warmer days are coming. But so is the rain. After the coolest day this week, is a cooler 47 degrees the high tomorrow. Sigh. Will be wearing my lightweight winter jacket tomorrow. Sweatshirt jacket today though. Will be rocking those shades on my lunchtime walk, both today and tomorrow.

Tea has been plentiful this morning. Must be thinking it was tomorrow, as was thirsty when I woke up.

But the usual week day routine for me. Thus, back to that other screen.

Hope all have a most Wonderful Wednesday.

I love that it's hump day.

It's not too cold here this morning. It's overcast - so the birds weren't chirping as I was heading to my car to head to work. They seem to chirp more when it is the bright sunny days. The forecast is still calling for below average temps. So I guess I'll have to settle for the sunshine - when it pops out again.

It was a quiet night last night. I was hoping to head to the gym last night - but I ran out of steam. After I had made some dinner and I also whipped up some breakfast muffins I like to take for breakfasts to drink with my daily tea - I was tuckered out.

We did video chat with dd and gd. Dd is slowly getting her strength back. It is not nearly as painful either - which is a good thing. They are enjoying the meals I made for them to eat on this week. She is going to have to freeze some of the left overs to have another day. But it still means less work for her.

Well, I should go hunt down some papers to shuffle. My tea is almost gone now.

Have a great day everyone!

I`m glad your daughter is doing better fairly quickly. Everyone is different with the recovery and length of pain, so it`s good to hear she`s not too bad, I`ll bet she`s glad it`s all over with now.

Quiet day here yesterday.......

We had a lovely Wednesday, and the weather was so mild we even went without jackets which for this time of year is unusual, especially since it was so cold earlier in the week. But the sun was shining and spending time with our friends was precious and having both of our kids there was lovely too. Had a lovely lunch and got some shopping in too which is always nice.

Today we woke up to heavy rain which will be on all morning I think, some shopping this morning and need to drop off a birthday gift that I picked up last week to one of our friends homes, that won`t take too long. But a quiet day ahead again once shopping is out of the way.

I`m making Nashville Hot Chicken for dinner tonight with sweet potato fries and salad, lunch is goodness knows what but breakfast is toast with avocado and a fruit plate and yep, tea, copious amounts of tea.

Have a wonderful Thirsty Thursday :-)

Last edited:
Ah yes, that commuting Thursday for me. And quick enough drive, but walking from parking into building, I was like darn, should have grabbed gloves. And, after sitting in office for awhile now, decided to turn on my little heater. Office feels almost too cool, and I have a sweater on, as knew cooler office given the weather news this early morning.

But clear skies and two degrees below freezing. Yep, even car said could be icy out there. Thankfully, the rainy all day weather is predicted to be another Saturday washout. And just like last weekend, Sunday will be gloriously sunny, and 52 predicted the high temp. So, any rain, in the 70’s degrees on Saturday, should be dried up soon into Sunday.

Am legally blonde once again since late afternoon yesterday. Was a nice visit to my hair salon, and was so pleasant out, drove away, then turned around to park again. Left my jacket in the salon. Tossed it in the car, and went home.

And so, with it cool inside and outside, doing my part in being thirsty today. So hope all enjoy some tea, like me, or coffee, like Robo, or wine like Schumi, or enjoy whatever drink you’d like, and have a most terrific Thirsty Thursday.

oops, I over slept this morning which seldom happens

looks like the threads I had written, I did not save

oops
Well it’s all old business now

schumi, Lynne and pumpkin…will need to rewrite what i posted to you last night again

cats had their surgery and doing ok this morning

Hope everyone has a great day !

Good to hear your cats are doing well, Mac. Hope they are resting, after hsving their surgery.

Hey, oversleeping is more than okay. Your body needed it Mac.

Oh they cleaned the windows in my office two days ago. Yep, fresh poop, and hello birds. Nice to see ya back again. Had to pull the shade down. Very very sunny out. At least warming up. 35 degrees out, with a wind chill feels like 25 degrees. Nothing like a winter feeling day in this second to last day of March.

Oversleeping is a good thing mac....don`t let anyone tell you any different!!

Hope the kitties get back to their old selves before too long. Oh it`s frustrating to write stuff out and then it disappears...the internet gremlins like to confuse us at times!!

I think I have drank more tea today than I ever have by 2.30pm as it is now. Two pots for breakfast , went to friends house to drop off a gift, we shared two large pots of tea, then went to a cafe for lunch with Tom and a friend of his, more tea, then he came back with us to see our new renovations....yep, more tea!! I drink a lot of tea, but holy moly! And still more to come....🫖

I have my Queen of Tea hat on today!

Cooler and rain this morning, it`s lovely this afternoon......bi-fold doors have been pulled wide open and the sun is streaming in, I think in a few hours they`ll be closed as it gets cooler, but for now, it`s lovely.

Having iced water with lemon in it right now....:)

Happy Wednesday :sunny:
OMGosh, I just love your cat meme! So cute and funny!
I see you just posted again, and mentioned all the tea drinking. That sounds like me with coffee, but I try to only drink 2 cups a day. I used to drink it all day long when I was younger. It would give me upset stomach to do it now, LOL.

I have a box of tea from Harrods that a friend from England gave us when we met up a while ago. I still have some tea in it because I just don't want to use it all up. It tastes wonderful and the box is cute too!

I had a great day yesterday. My daughter and I went out to eat and to thrift stores. We have some really nice ones, and we love to find treasures. I think it's the thrill of the hunt, LOL. We had a ball laughing and talking, which is something we don't do enough of lately. We drove way out into the country to put an order in for a side of beef. It's a nice drive (even with the snow) and the farm is beautiful. The meat from this farmer is fabulous and worth the price. It is not too much over the grocery store cost of meat, but there sure is a difference in the taste.

We are in for another snowfall but only 1 to 4 inches. The weather is warming up during the day and having lots of sunshine, so the snow is slowly melting. Yea! Can't happen soon enough.

Have a good Thursday, everyone:)
