Something About Nothing............ #14

Both dresses look very nice Charade. Yep, I wear sneakers, but usually only Nike, as I have almost narrow feet, and hate arch support. Good luck with your choice, as hoping they are perfect for your feet.

Did two errands in the rain. Was hard enough windshield wipers were on. Eh, at least not cold feeling rain that we have had before in this month.

Bought some bagels from the Jewish bakery I like while I was out. Have a block of cream cheese in the refrigerator, so round two breakfast for me. Older one and little like bagels too. So toasted or not, all enjoyed. Also got a 5 pack of matzo boxes for next week. I like it with butter, rather than cream cheese.

Ooh saw my car need gas. Maybe if little one drives, she’ll pump the gas. Hehe, nice to be the passenger now.

Happy Friday. I have completed all my class work for the week, so I am free for the whole weekend. I took the most ridiculous quiz last night. It was 10 questions, multiple choice. The correct answer to every single question was the first choice. I started to second guess myself, because surely they all can't be the first choice. Not the best way to arrange a quiz.

Same here. I think I would like it better if I had an average foot.

I looked at SWA to see if I could get a lower rate, but it wasn't much lower than AA and I would have to drive 2 hours to get a SWA flight. Right now the lowest rate flights leave either super early in the morning or late at night. I guess if I have to choose I will take the early flight. I don't want to be getting to Orlando at 10:00 or 11:00 at night.

We just got one here recently, but I have not been to it yet.

I fortunately didn't run into too many critters when I lived in Miami, but we did occasionally see palmetto bugs. Yuck. We also had some aggressive ducks that would come into our apartment complex from the nearby park.

We would get those tiny lizards in our apartment all the time. I'd rather have them than the palmetto bugs.

I don't get it either. I have lived all bit the first 2 years of my life in the south. Virginia is the farthest north I have lived (except for the 2 years we lived in AK) and I do not want to go any farther north.

Cracker Barrel used to be good and consistent no matter where you went. Unfortunately lately ours has been hit or miss.

That's going to be a huge no from me.

I am very particular about hush puppies. Generally I do not care for them, but occasionally I will find a restaurant where they are really good. The best ones I have had are from a small BBQ restaurant in the town in SC where my mother used to live.

Prayers for a speedy recovery.

Sorry you had to cancel your trip. I think a few of us will be there in September.
I haven't been to KSC since B was a baby. I did a project for my photography class there. I really should go back sometime.

Today is shoe shopping day. I am going to get some inexpensive white sneakers and bling them out in school colors. I have not decided which dress I will wear for graduation. Here are the 2 I picked out.

I am going to wear the navy one for pictures. I'm going to wear normal shoes for the photos. I discovered that I already have a pair of flats that perfectly match the lighter blue color in the navy dress.

Best Hush Puppies I`ve had so far were in New Smyrna Beach and a place in Lake Wales, they were perfect. I haven`t had a bad one, but some are decidely better than others.

Both dresses are very nice Charade, you chose well.

Good luck shoe shopping, I think I`m going to go next Wednesday! Dreading it already.

Both dresses look very nice!
Can’t go wrong for which you will wear.

I favor the navy dress also.

Yes, I think the navy dress just edges it for me too.

I love dresses!!

Sound like she is a very responsible child Bet she reads alot

well, that’s encouraging at least. Good luck sent your way

Oh no, another wordle mocking me lol. Is it -taki variety?

the struggle is real…not buying them, getting them back on properly after washing & drying. I only have the lightweight cotton sort. reminds me to look for sort that is a bit silky for easy manipulation

I like Lady Grey too, slight difference.

I’m not as anal as it sounds…only know as working on the annual thread…the multi day tix droped u/25 last year

View attachment 748638

That’s a haul, especially as it would likely seem longer on the way back home

speaking of SWA, jik anybody does patronize them & has SAMs membership…online special today for $500 GC for $429

my experience you are setting yourself up for the dregs of the available rooms. Still smarting from getting in @ 10 pm last fall to Portofino and being told they were oversold For 2 bedded rooms. Choice of going to a value for a night or having a cot hauled into the king room. Talk about a tight squeeze. others with 4 adults were ’in the same bed’. So strange, hope it was a fluke

Haha leave it to the south to try to make a cockroach sound elegant. I do think their frequency in southern hotels is due to clueless guests leaving the sliders open though…nothing a monthly spraying won’t cure

you got me on ducks there tho. Perhaps too many people started to feed them and they became emboldened?

love me an asymmetrical hem on a dress, both nice choices. I was happy to see Reebok old school leather shoes come back on market a few years ago. think they cute with a sundress or casual outfit when you will be on your feet ‘for days’. They do have a bit of an unexpected narrow toe box, stretch quickly to conform to your foot though.

Nice memes!!

Yes......maybe I should have added an extra i.....shiitake mushroom......I`ll know when I press post if that`s acceptable or not!!!

Lady Grey is beautiful.....both very light teas, nothing strong there for first thing on a morning. I do like a nice balance with teas. I thought of you yesterday when I saw the Lady Grey on a shelf in the Tea Shop.

They are very nice and yes would go lovely with a sundress.....I have to find a trainer with a heel drop or go and see P and get him to add the 10mm heel lift, and need that good arch support....wish me luck, going Wednesday!! I do like them though as I do like a nice white pair of trainers.

I am a master with Duvets!!!! Yes, I`m blowing my own trumpet ::yes:: .....and I have to put the cover on it on my own, if someone tries to help me, I`m all....nope, I prefer to do it on my own!! There is a way and it starts with the top two corners and feeding it in, then shaking it down......lol......it works!!! And we have, well, I think my cousin called our bed a California King?????? Does that sound right???

Also thought of you when I brought this out.......haven`t coated it or stuffed garlic and rosemary in yet......but this is Sunday`s dinner.....Scottish leg of Lamb. It`s not as fatty as it looks and it all renders down anyway, lamb shouldn`t be served with fat......one of my favourite dishes!

i-kQtfBF7-S.jpg

I think you might like my lamb!!!!! ::yes::

cv8-S.jpg

Yep.....another day of same old.

I did get my new duvet, new pillows, only one new cover though didn`t see another I really liked, but will keep looking. I like to have lots of changes.....and I didn`t pick up any new cushions and this lady makes exquisite cushions and pillows.

Will get all the bedding washed and dried ready to go on tomorrow evening.

Still blowing a hoolie out there today....should have had the bedding out today as it is kind of warm, but I`ve been on the phone most of the afternoon.....best laid plans!! I think steaks will be cooked inside as it`s just too breezy here, we need some spring like warmth!!

And Eggs Benedict for breakfast tomorrow is sorted......all freshly laid yesterday, I used some to make a quiche for lunch, we love the vivid orange yolk you get with eggs straight from the farm.

Happy Friday once again.......:sunny:

Quick early morning stop in!

It is a cool crisp morning with the birds singing to me as I was walking to my car this morning. The sun is shinning and hopefully it will be another warmer day to melt the snowbanks away. I spotted the first motor cycle out and about the other day...so I know Spring might finally be arriving here.

Seeing lots of photos of the amazing northern lights show we had last night. WOW is all I can say. brilliant. blue, green purple skies all night last night. @schumigirl I know you like to watch for those in your area - did you get them in your area of the world.

This is the first time in 7 years for us to have an ant invasion
Hope it is the last.
That doesn't sound like fun! It's great you have it cleared away and your cats can now roam the house again wherever their little hearts desire. y for work. Don't really feel like going in today. Also school starts back today. My final class.
You can do it
but as a tea drinking homie, I too enjoy a mug of tea in the morning. Earl Grey is my tea this morning, as enjoy a more strong tasting tea some mornings. Mostly I stick to a black tea, in a breakfast blend I found from a tea vender in the city. Both tea kinds give me that warm feeling. And at least still warmer out. Still close to 50 this early morning. 60 the high, with a more rainy day Saturday. I like our 7 day forecast. Even with chances of rain, and mostly cloudy days, all the high temps are in the 50’s and low 60’s. Woot! Warmer days are getting more frequent. Way to end our mostly winter feeling March.
I love an Earl grey in the morning as well!!!! Enjoy those temps. Have a great weekend!

ummmm YUM!!!!!! Eggs benny is my favorite breakfast meal!

Well, I should go hunt down some papers. I've completed the current ones.

Have a great day everyone!

Nah, far too cloudy here last few nights. I saw some gorgeous pictures taken in Alaska from people we follow who do amazing pictures of them and they were stunning. I`m so glad you got to see them, so many don`t get the chance over the world.

Eggs Benedict is the only egg dish I really like, poached eggs but with a touch of class!!

Early Grey I prefer in the afternoon, mornings for me, are for a strong breakfast tea....gives you a wake up shake!!

Have a great day Pumpkin......

Decided to book a late hair appointment for tomorrow morning, just for a cut and blow dry...I need a good tidy up, and made my appointment for 4 weeks time for the full works.

Love some salon time.

And the double ii in the mushroom name worked.....the filter liked that one ok!

Had a nail appointment for tomorrow.

Need to cancel last minute...DD is actually getting her surgery to get her gallbladder removed today. I really thought it would get cancelled again. I'm surprised it is actually happening. She wasn't on the wait list for long. Which is surprising knowing how our healthcare system right now.

So off to the city tonight. I had to cancel my shift this weekend to go help out. So I'll get to squeeze the gd and play with her, whip up a few meals for her to have in her fridge/freezer for the week. It will help her and sil...as he is busy with clients this next coming week.

Good luck to your daughter, hope the surgery goes well for her and you`ll have fun with your GD. They`ll be glad for you being there to help out.

I had my gallbladder out when I was 35, best thing ever once it was removed. Best wishes for her though.

Ah, the northern lights!!! Pumpkin, I didn't even know we had any until my son sent me some beautiful photos. Ours was pink, yellow, green, and blue - very beautiful and some colors I've never seen up here before. Usually the Northern lights are a pale transparent green floating across the sky. I live way up North, so we do have a lot of northern lights, but none like these. I hope they continue tonight so I can see them.

Ah, vans or van like. There’s a whole cottage industry on Etsy, some hundreds of $. Really, works of art.

i have horrid feet, arthritic now (who knew that was thing?) along with multiple other conditions, mostly in just the right one. Stoopid

anyway, do think the others have a better insole and wider toe box. You’ll need to try them on to decide.

you like sketchers ? i saw commercial, they have a ton of new styles for summer, even sandals. No idea.

Mr likes his Hey Dudes, I’m on the fence for myself there
I thought of you yesterday when I saw the Lady Grey on a shelf in the Tea Shop.
Lady Janet at your service lol. It’s difficult to find here for some reason. Along with Constant Comment. have you tried it? Made by Bigelow, would describe as strong, peppery/orange taste.
There is a way and it starts with the top two corners and feeding it in, then shaking it down......lol......it works!!! And we have, well, I think my cousin called our bed a California King?????? Does that sound right???
Yes, it does. A whopper of a bed.

Oh, it’s ugly how I stuff my comforter in the duvet. I think I have it perfect until I get about 3/4 of the way down and then wind up with a hump where I need to close it.

I even tried the sort where the sides also open up. A bit better but hated the buttons that weren’t hidden well, could feel them at night at times. ala princess & the pea
I think you might like my lamb!!!!
I’m sure I would. My mom made a roast duck that she would slowly render till the fat disappeared. Still, it had that texture of “dark” fowl meat of which I’m not a fan.
Early Grey I prefer in the afternoon, mornings for me, are for a strong breakfast tea....gives you a wake up shake!!
My cuppa is usually the 3rd or 4th hot caffeine of the day. First two, a good strong cup. My current favorite is Starbucks peppermint mocha. Stocked up on that bad boy at Xmas, will be good thru summer!
And the double ii in the mushroom name worked.....the filter liked that one ok!
That’s funny to think you had to work around the filter over a mushroom of all things
had my gallbladder out when I was 35, best thing ever once it was removed. Best wishes for her though.
Same thing. Had no idea I had gallbladder issues, thot I had something really bad wrong. Put off going to doctor for nearly a year as I didn’t want to hear bad news. What a dumb mistake that was lol

Pumpkin - hope your daughter sails through her surgery. Will she be back home the same day? She surely will feel like a new woman in a few weeks. :wizard:

DD is actually getting her surgery to get her gallbladder removed today.
Hope all went well with the surgery. I had my gallbladder removed several years ago. The recovery wasn't too bad.

Ah, vans or van like. There’s a whole cottage industry on Etsy, some hundreds of $. Really, works of art.

i have horrid feet, arthritic now (who knew that was thing?) along with multiple other conditions, mostly in just the right one. Stoopid

Skechers are my favorite shoes right now. I haven't tried Hey Dudes, but I have a friend who loves them.
My shoes fall into the "Van like" category. I bought a pair of inexpensive shoes from Target. I plan to decorate them with rhinestones, so I didn't want to spend much money.

Good luck and good thoughts for Pumpkin’s daughter. Hope surgery goes perfect and she recovers nicely. I know my one brother had his out years ago.

Ah, burgers and fries was what little one wanted for dinner. And so, burgers on grill, fries in oven, and even melted some cheese to pour over the fries. And some left in freezer gelato for dessert. Perfect dinner in my book.

Now viewing not much to keep me interested, and doing some of the puzzle, but it’s a bit hard, so I do, then stop every so often tonight.

Ooh that was a noisy plane go over, and a noisy neighbor coming home with his car window open and radio on top loudness. Nothing like a Friday night. And that’s okay. Sipping some lemon flavored tea. Nice for my before bed time. Later tonight, as even though I’ll be up early tomorrow, no reason to move fast when I get up.

Sweet dreams all,

Had a nail appointment for tomorrow.

You are a great mom to help your daughter out!
She will not have to worry about a thing as you will be there to help with everything!

There should be more moms like you.
I really hope your daughter will be pain free and recover in record time.

Hope the cats let Mac sleep in today. Hope you had a good night sleep.

And I’m up early. Another nice, long and hot shower.

Weather.

Overcast and a bit windy. Feel like temp is 37, when is actually 43 degrees out. Yep, that’s what a steady 10 mph wind does. And humid.

And the ah yes, the roll your dice loser rain kinda day this Saturday. Early weather news said chances of showers until dinner time, and a round of rain coming in the later evening. Then, a high weather system arrives in the wee hours. Yep, it’s a cloud clearing weather system. And since it’s coming from the South, 60 degrees the high and a beautiful blue sky clear sunny ☀️ Sunday. Yeah a cloudy then full sunny day is our weekend weather.

So today, only thing I need to do is a return with little one to the biggest mall. Told little one, we need to get there around opening, as with the rainy weather, people like to roam the malls. We will see. I heard her up late. And older one works.

DH wanted Wawa coffee, so off we went, as the one a few minutes drive, is a 24 hour one. And even in this Saturday early morning, we were certainly not the only ones getting coffee and food. And so, I got a sandwich while he just got coffee. He doesn’t mind a cheese sandwich from our home, so neither of us wanted breakfast type food for our early breakfast.

Ooh I’ll have to look up Lady Grey, Janet. I tend to just use a basic black tea blend, and a breakfast one from a local tea shop. She makes these little tea bags I use only in the office. I don’t like to keep a tea tin there.

This, what weekend days are to be lazy, and I’ll try best to do that. With my mug of tea, I get quiet time with DH for several hours before we hear older one stirring. . So nice I found a partner that also is an early riser.

Finally, I hope all have a most super sized, relaxing Saturday. And a very good morning too.

Ah wish I was in Florida right now. Orlando says 91 the high. While I live where we get snow and winter weather, I’m a lizard at heart. I love when is dry and very warm. But 60 the high temp in late March where I am, is not a bad thing. More seasonal temps for us, bring in the 50’s and low 60’s. And yep, while stores are finally showing Spring and Summer type clothes and decor, many, including me, are still keeping more winter type clothes around. Certainly wore my lightweight winter jacket when we went this early morning. And pants. Probably will be my dress all day.

Ah, the northern lights!!! Pumpkin, I didn't even know we had any until my son sent me some beautiful photos. I live way up North, so we do have a lot of northern lights, but none like these. I hope they continue tonight so I can see them.

I wish I`d seen those from the other night, the images we saw were stunning. We usually see the green lights flickering and dancing above us but those sound stunning. Yes, where you are is so beautiful I hope you to see them again.

We went to Norway once to see them......lol.....cloud. Nothing but cloud the whole trip.....it was still a fabulous place to visit though and one of the most expensive places we`ve ever visited....it takes a lot to shock us, but back then in early 2000 paying almost $35 for a beer and it was a small one did make us laugh!!!

Well good morning Lady Janet......wait....aren`t you the Duchess???? I forget now......lol....oh no, wait..... it`s Empress!!! How could I forget.......I`ll try and remember and bring you a box for when we next meet up, but it`s not the same brand you mentioned and it is bags I believe but should be nice. I`ve never tried Bigelows Constant Comment tea, my friend Felicity has just left and she said she likes Bigelow Teas but doesn`t think I will like that one as she finds it a little sweeter than usual. She doesn`t have any right now but will try and get some, she gets them online as they aren`t in stores. She did mention a coconut one???? Not sure about that!!

You lost me on peppermint anything...... :rotfl:

I did laugh when I was told the gallbladder is a common affliction for women who are "Fat Fair and Forty" lol.....very general term of course but the amount of women of a certain age having them removed is incredible. My mum of course had to buck the trend, she had hers removed in her early 70`s...the woman eats like a sparrow so it must be a genetic thing too not solely down to diet.

My worst event was when I was in hospital for 9 days with an attack, 6 days on Morphine which was dreadful when they stopped it. But they couldn`t remove it at that time as it was so inflamed. Got it removed a few months later.....allelujah!!

I`ve just opened the duvet cover and it feels so soft and gentle......I`ll get it washed and then get the duvet inside on Monday, the duvet is a double thick one.....honestly, it looks like a huge fluffy cloud...I have it just laying out on one of the other beds for now....can`t wait to get the new stuff on! I do love new bedding.

Time got away from me and I am late for the party here.
Well not a real party but a nice chit chat and catching up on what I have missed in the sans today

Good night and sweet dreams to all.

Hope you had a good nights sleep mac.....we always miss you when you`ve been busy and don`t get the chance to post as much:goodvibes......

My husband and I had a lovely long lay in this morning......outside was cold, wet and miserable so I turned over and went back to sleep instead of getting up for now reason.....it was lovely!!

Light breakfast and then off to salon where my friend decided she`d book too, honestly she can`t see green cheese go past her....but in a nice way of course, so we got our hair done and then she had booked us a facial in one of the little places that`s opened up within the hotel in the next town.....I`m not one for facials (she is) but it was very nice and a nice little pamper for the morning. Shame we`re not going out tonight now. Then back here for a cuppa and she`s gone now so Tom is making us lunch of Eggs Benedict with bacon instead of for breakfast as planned. I will make the sauce of course.

Then not much today, just the two of us as most friends are busy so no one to drop in, so might make a little afternoon cocktail and we`re having Chinese take out tonight, then bottle of wine and we`ll choose a movie to watch. Feel like something scary!

Janet you like your horror movies...any suggestions!!!!

Our clocks go forward tonight.....doesn`t bother us as we have no work to think about any longer, being retired early is fabulous!!!!!

(I will catch up on my emails today ladies)

Have a wonderful Saturday folks 😁

going to 68 degrees today, hooray. I’ll dance in the drizzle :)

It’s probably a very good thing nobody ever told me that adage :rolleyes1. never a good idea to poke the bear
Janet you like your horror movies...any suggestions!!!!
Hmm, know you’ve seen most of the goodies & not a fan of zombies🧟‍♂️🧟‍♀️; my favorite genre lol.

if you can tolerate subtitles & zombies, Train to Busan is great. Of course, the original Night of the Living Dead filmed here…had to put it out there :)

have you done the Evil Dead franchise? it’s an acquired taste, love me some Bruce Campbell. Enjoy Sam Rami’s varied works. Drag Me to Hell was a pleasant surprise. Not high art but fun & fast moving.

know you appreciate B&W films, always recommend Carnival of Souls (admittedly slow-moving, a bit artsy) along with original Island of Lost Souls (that was made before they cracked down on things with the motion picture code, it’s a bit over-the-top). Not as bad as Freaks.

two I haven’t seen but, on my short list are: the Innocents & Hereditary Have you seen them?

believe we are due for another Insidious movie - eek
anyone else have favored, more obscure horror films to recommend?popcorn::

know you appreciate B&W films, always recommend Carnival of Souls (admittedly slow-moving, a bit artsy) along with original Island of Lost Souls (that was made before they cracked down on things with the motion picture code, it’s a bit over-the-top). Not as bad as Freaks.

two I haven’t seen but, on my short list are: the Innocents & Hereditary Have you seen them?

believe we are due for another Insidious movie - eek
anyone else have favored, more obscure horror films to recommend?popcorn::

It was the surgeon himself who said it to me, ah yes you`ve hit the affliction of the three F`s....I was more offended at being accused of being forty than fat.....lol......a spade hitting you in the face had more tact that he ever did. Very cold and inconsiderate man.

We watched Hereditary and it was dire! I like Toni Collette, but it was just a tad disappointing, The Innocents I had to Google, nope never watched that one.

I saw the Evil Dead for the first time with my group of teen friends that were far too young to be watching it and almost cried walking home from his home that night.....lol....I think we were about 14 and our friend Martin`s dad got hold of a hookey "video tape" so we sneaked a watch. Wish I hadn`t lol....but I haven`t seen the 2013 version....not sure whether to bother or not. I`m not a fan of zombies in general nor vampires unless it`s Count Dracula of course.....

I did like the Insidious movies, I do like Patrick Wilson 😍 and they are such good movies, my favourite is The Conjuring......terrifies me every time I watch it, but in a good way!!

Isn`t Carnival of Souls supposed to be quite terrifying??? I think I might have tried to watch it years ago.......will need to go Google!! Thank God for Google!!

Who knows what we`ll end up watching....we have a massive amount of DVD`s but end up watching the same ones.....

The new Munster movie is on our virgin media box right now......might give that a go too....lol.....

I`ve just written an email to mac and told her Tom was asking how early is too early for a cocktail on a dull and miserable Saturday afternoon.......I can take a hint!! 🍹

Sorry, Carole, but I just can't get over $35.00 for a small beer???? Guess I'll never go to Norway:)
I just can't imagine! I hope it was really, really good!

Stayed up to see the Northern Lights, but it was CLOUDY! So, guess I won't see them this time. My son had better call me the next time he sees something like that!

BTW: love your memes!

lol....I didn`t really drink beer back then, but Tom enjoyed it, I generally had wine when we were there which was only slightly less in cost and not the nicest wine I`ve ever tasted!! Weirdly the hotel had a house wine which they passed off as table wine but it was much nicer than anything else I had tried that trip. They poured it out like water from a pitcher during dinner, I never told them how nice it was in case they started to charge extra for it.....

Yes, hope your son keeps you updated if there are going to be some good sightings of the lights. We still have cloud, no chance for us.

Thank you....... :goodvibes

Chinese food was so good. We had Kyle here for dinner tonight, he loves that place too, then he headed off after we had a nice catch up....empty plates everywhere.

Coated the lamb leg in all the goodies, it`ll stay in the fridge all night, we had to hacksaw the end of the bone off as it wouldn`t fit in our largest slow cooker, but popped that bit in with the full leg. The fridge will have a strong wine, garlic, rosemary and onion smell in the morning, so will pop it in garage fridge and take everything else out and leave the dish in there all night.

Think we`re going to watch the Evil Dead...original one and then a comedy about the Eurovision song contest....a must watch event over here every year!!

Then still deciding what scary movie we`ll watch.....so many choices and we`ll have to remember to change to clocks that don`t change automatically tonight, we`ll do that before we head to bed.
