Something About Nothing............ #14

Yep, you did, that`s why I hoped the cats are back to normal :cat:

Nothing like an early night and a good sleep to refresh one.

And it`s lovely waking up and it`s light now. And we have some cloud, but looks to be a nice day ahead. We do need to go out, I bought a dress that is not for me, so I`ll take it back and either get something else or just a refund.

Tom has requested lasagne tonight so I made the meat and sauce last night, will put it together after I make the sauce for it later. No idea what to arrange for lunch although after Maria mentioned Brie on the TR, I might just have something with Brie for us....grilled sandwiches maybe.

Might try a walk this morning and see how it goes along the seafront, depends when we hit the shops, later in the day the beach car parks are quite full even this time of year so we do prefer getting down there early mornings.

Avocado on a toasted English muffin this morning and the biggest pot of tea I have I think.

Happy Tasty Tuesday 😁

:P I love the worcestershire sauce emoji. See? I can't even spell it let alone say it. I usually sound like the last one, "war chester shire", LOL.

last few days have an weather inversion hanging around, health department finally issued alerts for air quality. File it under better late than never I suppose. Most I know with any sort of underlying bronchial issue, even those with garden variety allergies, could’ve told them that days ago.

Made chili last night. It talked to me all night, tasty tho it was. Spicy foods haven’t been sitting well for a few months on me. I am not amused.

errands today, rather annoying when Amazon returns have to be deposited at a drop site. Does give me an excuse to shop at that Micheals store :). Craft and home stores are decidedly lacking here. Was good news to learn a Home Goods store moving 10 miles away. That passes for close here re grocery and non WM/Sams stores. Comes with the territory when you live far out in the burbs.

That‘s the right slimy thing! One of my dogs in the past was a schipperke. much missed, one of my favorites :). A lot of dog in a small body, bred as watchdog & ratter. She patrolled our yard with great gusto had to put a bell on her as no critter that set foot in our yard was safe.

black snakes quite common here. I’ll never forget the time she went after one that made the mistake of slithering past her. that breed has a pit bull sort of locking jaw. She was latched on a snake that had to be 7 feet long. kept vigorously shaking it, all the while it kept biting her. she won, dropped it once her task was done; very pleased with herself.

yet another time she had to spend overnight at vet hospital after a hunting foray. Those bites easily get infected within hours. in her case, vet said it was more the allergic reaction animals and humans often get, even from non venomous snake bites.

You did, it opened the floodgate to post a ghostbuster related pun re the ants.

Ground is mushy here, soil too wet to start to turn for garden. All the rain mid week isn’t going to help that cause…we will send it quickly onto you.
Keishashadow, what is the thing with chili right now? I just made some last night, my son made some last night too, my Mom made some 1 day ago??? And then you mentioned chili. I am in the same camp as you with spicy foods. My stomach can't tolerate anything too spicy either. My chili just has a dash of chili powder in the beans, which works out good for me.

lol....I admit most folks just call it Worcester sauce and leave the Shire off...pronounced wooster....simples!! We did get some giggles when our American cousins tried to say it.....they were determined to get it right though.

Any more of those beautiful flower pictures you posted Ruth? They really were lovely and knowing you grew them yourselves makes them even prettier.

Had a visit from one of my Godsons wanting to use one of our showers......him and his wife bought a brand new build home and they stayed here for a time while we were away as building was delayed and it had some issues.....so now the whole site is without water. They are still building houses so it`s ongoing. His wife is away with work so after his shower we did feed him lasagne and made sure he had some food to take away with him, he`s a good cook but....well, we like to pamper him.

I told him calling his home "Briarwood" after an asylum in one of his favourite historical tales was never a good idea!!! That name does have connotations, but they`ve had so many issues.

So, dinner was the three of us.....PERFECT!!!! Apparently that`s one of my favourite words to describe a day and I use it a lot.......::yes::

Time for another cuppa tea......... 🫖

So nice to hear your Irish dinner was a hit. You are the queen of big dinners on here. Your big meals for your family always sound good.
that was so to nice, thank you. I’m not a gourmand by any means, do try to put out well-made food and lots of it lol. I think I have that recent King book in my account. Read an excerpt, seems as tho a departure from his norm. I just finished re-reading Needful Things. That is a real doozie, forgot how full of vivid gore. I still need to finish the JFK one he wrote. tried to pick it back up when in a waiting room recently, has been so long, realized I need to start it over.

good to hear your mr is coming along well. Most men aren’t exactly hands on with their health care.

thot of you today. Your holiday trees are so artistically done. The mr had mentioned my Easter holiday tree was looking a bit skimpy. Can’t argue, just some eggs & seasonal flower picks, the sort you put on a wreath or floral arrangement. My excuse, it’s usually not up more than a couple of weeks after the quick change over from a combo Mardi Gras/st Pats one that always looks nice. Anyhoo, when at micheal’s found a pair of goofy rabbit feet picks. Now looks like the bunny has dove into the tree. It’s a hit lol

that’s quite the laundry list of critters! I saw my first armadillo at KSC. yes, I was excited. Same as I get when I see a gator. Would be another story if I actually had them for neighbors I’m sure! I am confused as to all the wild boars in FL tho. So many hunters here, have a feeling they would end up on a platter.

ruth - (feel free to call me Janet) it’s chili fest time! Going to freeze a couple of bowls of the leftover for somebody’s lunch, just couldn’t face it again today. I settled upon chicken wings for dinner, seasoned & also some teriyaki ones. Veggies rounded it all out, pretending it made it healthy.

carole - i am now hungry for lasagne. Believe i have a couple of portions hiding in the freezer hmmm

lynne - there’s nothing like escaping work for a nice walk in the spring during lunch. I wound up buying a nasal spray the ENT suggested. Said to use sparingly, no more than a few days at a time. It has camphor in it. Never tried one with that ingredient before. She said similar to Afrin allergy sinus @ 1/10th the price at the $ store. Um, sure? so far so good, sinus’ feel clear after using 5 hours ago.

Well, Carole, I'll see if I can navigate the posting of pictures again. I did find some older flower pics but I don't know how those got on there. I guess my old laptop transferred them over??? I know I didn't do it on purpose. But I will try.

We are getting our heavy snow now and will snow all night - up to 5 inches or so. ICK! I am so over snow and cold right now. Our snow banks were just starting to melt down to 2 feet, and here we go again. I keep telling my son and daughter that they all have to sell and leave this cold North, because I wouldn't go anywhere without them:) My soninlaw is a born Northerner from Wisconsin. He loves the cold and snow. He snowmobiles, ice fishes, has bonfires out on his property after he grooms his paths. He will have 2 or 3 bonfires along the paths that wind through his woods and will have hot chocolate at one, smores at another, that kind of thing. I think he likes winter more than summer, which I'll never understand. So, I guess we will be up here with family and have to visit the South more often, including our missed Universal trip!

Well there are a lot of peeps that are thrilled with snow in March.
They do love snow and low temps.

We have friends in WI that dread summers and can’t wait until summer is over.

Winter was not my favorite time period especially when we lived two miles from the great lakes.

So true with men and their health! "I`m fine" is their motto!

We have a lot of Wild Boar products in deli`s over here, mostly from France. Tom loves to buy some dried Wild Boar saucisson that come with all sorts of ingredients in them, very strong for my tastes so I tend not to eat much of it. It does go down well with folks when I put it on a charcuterie board. I love pork, but this is not really for me. He does like regular wild boar sausages too.......he`s on his own there too!!

Lasagne was so good!! I was so glad I had made a huge one with our godson turning up, he`s one of these really slim guys that eats enough for 10 every meal!!! His parents are the same though and one of his sisters, the other sister who is just gorgeous did not inherit those genes and always gets annoyed as she`s like me.....reads a menu and puts 10lbs on!!!

I love anything Teriyaki!!! Yep, sounds a lovely dinner you had there.

lol.....how many times do we do something and think.....how did I do that!!!!

Yes, it won`t be long till you`re out of winter and you`ll get your travels in and you definitely need to get back to Universal. There are a lot of folks that relish that cold, snow and ice...can`t quite understand that myself......lol.......Tom and I were the two who went to Switzerland with friends years ago and never left the lodge except to walk round the village and visit the pubs and restaurants. They all ski.....we definitely do NOT!!!! lol we had the best time though!!

I like your son in law`s idea of fun.....but watching out of the window is my idea of enjoying winter!

So true, many folks do love their winter, the colder the better!

I can only imagine living so close to those lakes.......when the East wind from Siberia knocks on my door, I can envisage what it was like for you up there!! The East wind is what made me think I`d never be able to live here!!

I have one of my Godsons here again this morning for his shower, his water will be back on today, but happy to help him out when he needs it. I`m glad his wife is away as she gets in the shower and forgets to get out!!

It is blowing a hoolie out there this morning, rain will be on and off all day by the looks of it, woke up a couple of times during the night with the wind howling outside.

Off out this morning but won`t be out long I think, decided to give the Wednesday lunch a miss this week, it is so miserable out there. We still have some turkey and Brie left so we will do those sandwiches again today and dinner will be some kind of fish, either salmon or cod loins, depends what looks the best in the fishmonger.

It`s quite mild though which is nice!

Happy Hump Day 🥰

Ah that Southern wind is still around. And those rain chances are just a light rain in the 7am hour, today. That’s it. Yay. Though bad hair alert, as 15 mph winds today. But what have the winds blown in?

5300D2B1-2230-40F6-8081-BBAA49B52395.jpeg

Oh hellos camel. Looks like he’s ready for our lunchtime walk today. Though better hold on to that hat. LoL

And so, that hump of a mid week reminder, that as we get over the middle of our week, Fabulous Friday felling will be felt in two more days. Woot!

And so, back to that week day routine screen. Probably will see shorts on littke one again. Me? Not quite. But with it being 54 and overcast at lunchtime, will still have a sweatshirt jacket on. And by the time I get off that screen, will be the high of the day, with 62 the high.

Ooh like to hear the food choices from all. I haven’t done lasagna in some time. We tend to just have pasta, with my own made red sauce. Yesterday, we did our teriyaki steak dinner, as still had some grilled steak leftover. None left. DH even asked if any more left. It was that good. And an easy leftover meal. Tonight? See what all are interested in.

Oh and Keisha, luckily, older one has a prescription for nose spray, but he gets good results with over the counter generic pills he is on daily. He can use his nose spray three times a day. That cocktail of drugs tends to help relieve his asthma reactions. We vary the pill types at times, as not one is the right one every time. I feel for ya. Allergies are not fun. I also always carry pills for little one. Very very oddly, she gets hives after eating out. But it has been so random, and haven’t seen it in a year now. But I just figure good to have her pills ready, as when she takes those pills, she is clear of the hives in about 20 minutes.

Ooh need to get more tea. Hope all have a most wonderful Wednesday.

Good Wednesday morning everyone

The locals I know seem quite blase sometimes, one told us he shooed an alligator away with his garden hose......lol.....never batted an eyelid!!
I think that is a problem when we all become desensitized to things in our environment. I would not be brave enough to shoo a gator away with anything. Little gators get big and eat things.

You have a good day, sounds like a lovely way to spend it.
I had a nice lazy day yesterday thank you. I was lazy more then anything.

I had washing out, it rained, brought it back in.....rinse and repeat 3 times. Eventually the sun stayed out so got the laundry dry, ironed and put away. One of the tiny things that makes me happy!!
When I was little my mom always hung the bed sheets out to dry and the other clothes as well. I remember how wonderful the sheets smelled from being out in the fresh air.

Robo, continued good wishes for your DH’s cataract surgery. Always gives a sigh of relief, when you find a good doctor. We found a very good, kind eye doctor. I hope he doesn’t retire, as he’s older.
Thank you he is doing well. It is hard when good Doctors retire, but they are just like everyone else they want to retire at some point too.

Had a visit from one of my Godsons wanting to use one of our showers......him and his wife bought a brand new build home and they stayed here for a time while we were away as building was delayed and it had some issues.....so now the whole site is without water. Our nephew from Georgia does hunt the wild boar they have in Georgia. He said they basically hut them to cull them as they are very aggressive. He said they can not be eaten as the wild boar eat anything in the wild and the meat is not consumable.

Sun is shinning this morning. High will be in the upper 70’s.

We did go out to dinner yesterday evening. I let hubby pick. He wanted Cracker Barrel so thats where we went. We have never been to the Cracker Barrel here before. Food was good not spectacular. Hubby enjoyed it and that was all that mattered.

Not much planned today. Will just go with the flow.

Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone.

Robo, nice to have lazy days. And glad to hear having warmer weather. We have a Cracker Barrel near us. Three times not good, they have been off our list of go to places for some time now. Twice missing food items, last, very poor service, and then having to waiting for check for over an hour was not what we expected. That’s the issue with chain restaurants. Some are much better than others, even though same food. Yes, I had to find another family doctor, as he did retire. But at least found another, younger, so hoping to have his care for years.

Rain is gone, and was so light, didn’t see any rain, nor hear it. Birds are chirping, and bright enough out. Hmm, maybe will be rocking those shades for lunchtime walk.

Older one is up. He is a good kid. Coworker has an earlier start time, and never had a driver’s license, as her DH drove her. Well a couple months ago, her DH could not take her. While she is now trying to get her license, since they live down the street from us, older one, gets up earlier, and takes her. Then he comes back, to ready for his start time a few hours later. Little one on the other gad, has two classes this last semester, so will not see her for hours., like after my lunchtime walk. Sigh. But at least I had quiet, well other than my DH, since I got up.

Our snow banks were just starting to melt down to 2 feet, and here we go again.
‘Cause 2 feet is manageable. Lol spoken like an intrepid mid-westerner. Guess you learn quick to deal with it there. We are less prone to getting big snow. I’m so glad to have not seen a single pile of snow this year!!!
Winter was not my favorite time period especially when we lived two miles from the great lakes.
Talk about lake effect up close & personal

It begs to be asked…what does it taste like?

Dont say 🐔 please

Very very oddly, she gets hives after eating out.
I had that phenom for decades, then poof. No food connection tho. That almost sounds like a good sensitivity. I was Told some people are prone to having random hives that pass within an hour or so. Mine did

Ah, mystery is solved. One of the reasons I can’t bring myself to eat even farm raised catfish. That whole bottom feeder thing uck
He wanted Cracker Barrel so thats where we went
What do you like there? I usually grab uncle Herschel  Fried chicken usually good. Kiddo likes the dumplings. Some are decidedly better than others. Ones when we drive south seem to be the tastiest

Wanted to share this re new SW coaster that they started human testing…I’m tapping out! o_O

Pipeline’s surfboard style ride vehicle will have guests standing and locked into a neutral position. During the journey on the waves, the ride vehicle will simulate surfing by moving up and down. The ride will send riders into several back and forth surfing-style cutbacks, maneuvers, a splashdown experience and an impressive 360-degree inversion.

lol....not lazy Robbie, you participate selectively ::yes::......sounds so much nicer!!

He is a lovely young man apart from his misfortunate taste in hobbies 🤣 of which studying asylums from the past that have been let to go to rack and ruin or have some kind of horrible story attachd to them is one of them!!! Hence the name Briarwood for his home!! He`s an officer in the CiD so he has a very curious brain.....you should hear him asking your thoughts on any subject, he`s so funny when he goes into interrogation mode...we always have to remind him he`s off duty. I have a cousin who is older than me and she is about a year away from retiring from the CiD in another County and she is the same way, they can`t help it but do change when it`s pointed out.

Washing fresh from the line doesn`t get any better....especially with bedding, lovely.

We are considering Cracker Barrel this upcoming trip, but not sure about it as it`s been a long time.....I hear they have wine now so that might sway me, but I heard it`s not the best!

Have a wonderful Wednesday and glad your DH is still improving.

Well, no, it doesn`t taste anything like chicken, I might like it more if it did.

It`s all free range farmed Boar so you know what you`re getting flavour wise.....I think it`s more like game than anything else, I don`t even think it`s like pork, very different. The one Tom likes they are fed fresh herbs like rosemary, chervil and wild mountain thyme which the does come through. I would eat a little slice, but wouldn`t seek it out. When Tom sees it on certain restaurants menu`s he`ll always order it if he knows where it`s come from.

Yes, landing on one`s `arris is not exactly comfortable, even with extra padding!!! Skiing is something I never wanted to do nor were capable probably, leg muscles probably wouldn`t think it was a good idea. Apres ski is more our kind of pace!!

I tried Catfish once......once was enough!!! What the heck is that taste!!! 🤢

We saw it being built when we were there with you in September, I thought we might go in May, but.....don`t laugh.....I don`t think we have enough time......lol

That coaster looks AMAZING!!! Nice to know they`ve started the real body testers!!

Where is Ruth today.....hope she`s not under 10 feet of snow!!!!

I`m glad to see they are dismantling the Free Fall Drop Tower ride beside the Orlando Eye, the one that poor young man fell out of the seat and was sadly killed. It was horrible seeing it there knowing what happened to him. I think by the time we arrive it`ll be completely demolished.

The wind has died down a little but my washing is still billowing away nicely, it`ll be dry in no time at all. Sun is shining brightly though so it looks gorgeous out there although the sea looks so angry!

Got some lovely cod loin for dinner tonight, no skin, no bone and a couple of huge pieces which will roast nicely for a short time, going to make a lemon beurre blanc sauce to go with it and some kind of roasted veg....kinda healthy!! It`s nice to make a dinner that`s original and not a copy of others, so many coincidences.......

I have some messages on my phone I need to answer, one friend always wonders why you don`t reply straight away.....but she too is one who either answers txts or emails straight away or 4 weeks later!!

I have some madeira cake I baked this morning to have with our afternoon tea, it`s a little like pound cake, very nice and light. 🫖

WEll, I'm still here under 6 more inches of snow! Roger spent about an hour blowing the snow down our long driveway and 2 turnarounds, path to the bird feeder (they have to eat too), and to the trash cans. Whew! I told him he needs to hire it out next year, but he actually loves doing it. It has hand warmers and is automatic with different speeds so it's not too hard on him, just has to walk:)

I hope you give Cracker Barrell another try. We love their country breakfast and I am not a breakfast person.
I had to laugh at your comment about the catfish. Whenever we are in Tennessee, we always go to the Catfish HOuse Restaurant. Honestly, the fish they have do not smell at all and is delicious. I don't like stinky food either. I guess different restaurants can ruin things. I confess to loving all true Southern Cooking and miss it up here. However, we do have our hot dishes, :rolleyes2.

I loved your comment about skiing, LOL. I tried cross country skiing one time, and I couldnt get up a very small 6 foot slope to even start. It was at my daughters house and they have trails all over their woods. She fell down laughing and I looked at the house and boy grandsons were cracking up! So, I know I am too clumsy for any sports. I was always the last person picked in PE class at school. I fall down with nothing to trip over at times so I stay away from skiing or sports. :)

My daughter just called and said my granddaughter is sick, up all night, and fainted when she got up this AM.. They are taking her to the ER right now to get fluids and maybe meds. She is the only grandchild that I have who gets sick alot. If something is around, she gets it. I feel so bad for her. And she inherited my clumsiness!
I love her and am awaiting the news from the ER.

I was going to offer to send you a snow plough if you need it, but your Roger sounds as if he has everything in hand!!!

I think if Kyle approves of the menu we`ll go, we quite liked it, I think I had something like chicken fried something or other and I did love their gravy!!!

The Catfish we had didn`t smell, it just had an odd taste I didn`t like. It reminded me of when we were in Norway and they tried to give us Shark......ugh, no, just no!!! I`d rather eat my own feet!

Yes, I`m with you with the fish smell....fish should never smell fishy, it should be fresh and of the sea if anything.....nasty smelling fish is for folks who don`t have a clue!!

One thing I adore from the South and there are many things......Hush Puppies!!!! Oh my lord, I couldn`t believe I`d avoided them for so many years! First time I tried them was in a very different place called Cherry Pocket Fish Camp in Lake Wales...food was gorgeous but we had the most terrifying experience there involving a man with a gun. I never posted the whole story online but we were told by several friends at the hotel we were banned from going anywhere without asking them about it first, we honestly felt like we were being grounde:rotfl:d......

I`m a little klutzy but I did try the nursery slope once.....I lasted about 35 seconds before deciding Tom`s position in front of a huge fire beside the bar with a glass of wine suited me better!!! And, can you believe my "friends" had all taken bets as to how long I would last!! The closest was 2 minutes.....lol.....It took me longer to get into the darn suit and boots!!

Oh I hope your granddaughter is ok!! That is so worrying she had to go to the ER room! They`ll take good care of her, but of course you`ll be concerned till you hear back from your daughter how she is!! Sending all good wishes for her to be better soon.

Wind has died down, washing did dry and the sun has been shining all day which has been lovely.

About to start dinner, I like my sauce made before I pop the fish in the oven as it doesn`t take long to cook, we like it still very translucent, so we`re both quite hungry tonight.....making some quite unhealthy mashed potato to go with it.....clean plates tonight again!!

Oh my gosh, Hush Puppies!!!! :hippie:I absolutely love them. My soninlaw tried to make some for me and they actually turned out good. Not asgood as southern, but good. It was nice of him to try. He is a great cook and I love his creations. My husband can't even boil water, but that's my fault. I like the idea that he does all the yard work, car stuff, house repairs, dirty and hard things, and I do all the household things and cook. I guess I come from a different generation that was raised that way, and I like it:)
You're going to have to tell me that scary story sometime. It sounds awful!

Thanks, Carole, I haven't heard anything yet but that's not unusual for a trip to the ER. At least I know they will take good care of her.

Your skiing story sounds very funny. I guess we are both better staying off the slopes:)

It`s something I`ve never tried to make over here for some reason, it`s nice he does enjoy cooking though.

Tom and I are quite traditional too....I never deal with certain things like the trash......nah, he does all that, but we do share the housework, he had his own house when we met so he was already very good at that kind of stuff, but I`m the cook. He can cook, but like you I prefer to do it and I am better at it and enjoy it more than he does, so it makes sense.

lol....it`s quite a long story, but I`ll try and write it out one day, I did share it with mac and Janet at the time and it did spook us a little....but didn`t really stop us mooching around places we fancy.

And yes, I never did go back on the slopes....I`m bad enough walking across regular snow!!!

And a very good Thursday morning from a slightly windy place this morning, sun is briliant though and no rain due till tonight, we will be fighting the breeze when we head out though.

Grocery shopping, then the usual stops in at the butcher, baker and not quite a candlestick maker but will pop into our village for a few things after we hit the grocery store for the things like cleaning products and so on.

Won`t be going far today in this breeze.......but Thirsty Thursday is here.......🍸

Have a fabulous Thursday :goodvibes

Thirsty Thursday it is. Just heard a good rain shower not that long ago. Now just drizzling. Must have rained some in the overnight, as looked wet when I looked out the window when I got up. Saying all morning chances of rain, then cloudy the rest of today. But hey, when I woke up, it was 50 degrees out. Yay for a warmer day. 65 the high, so warm afternoon. And a cold front is coming, so more rain and decreasing temps, before clearing out on a most beautiful sunny Sunday, with 61 the high.

May try to see my sister this Sunday. She is feeling much better when I called her the other day.

Thus, tea and screen. Having issues with connecting for a few minute this morning. Guess rain gremlins at play. But was okay in a few minutes after.

Nice for Schumi to be restocking the kitchen today, with errands run also. With that breeze, makes sense not yo go outside much.

Ooh phone just said moderate rain coming soon. Wet day. Yes.

Thus, hope all have a Terrific Thirsty Thursday. And a good morning too.
