Something About Nothing............ #14

Happy Friday everyone. It has been a pretty uneventful week here. Dh is feeling better and B has finally chosen a restaurant for her birthday dinner. I decided to make a reservation just to be certain. I'm glad I did. Our preferred times were unavailable. We had to choose between 5:30 or earlier and 8:30 or later. We picked 5:30, but I will keep checking back to see if something else becomes available.

My husband will agree with you. He keeps saying he is going to turn B's room into a library when she moves out. I was hoping for a huge closet.

Hope your arm is feeling better. My worst shot was the shingles vaccine.

I had just the smallest bit of frost on my windshield yesterday. I want fall, but not ready for winter.

A perfect day for me.

So cute. I hear there is a baby tiger too.

So similar, but not as horrific as a time share. I have heard that the DVC employees aren't nearly as pushy as time share ones.

Thanks. Normally I just roll my eyes when he gets a cold because he usually overreacts. This time he isn't eating much and is sleeping much more than usual, so I think he may really be sick. Fortunately he is starting to feel better.

Sorry to hear that. Hope it doesn't last too long.

I say that about Christmas ornaments.

Welcome back. Looking forward to hearing about your trip.

I really want to go but am worried about how bad the crowds will be. I'm wondering if January 2026 would be a good time. My AP renews in December too.

Well, I have absolutely nothing planned for today. It may be a sit and stitch kind of day.

I think it's a good time to start a countdown to B's birthday trip.

Glad your husband is doing better and yes, a day doing not very much is good for the soul!!

Happy New Orthotics day, feel as though as I`m walking on a fluffy carpet now.

Just finished dinner, chillies weren`t as hot as they should have been, but still tasted good, chicken just melted again. Spent most of the day baking so made two mini apple crumbles, again, clotted cream went with it. Not diet friendly for sure, but so nice with a pot of tea.

Found Ally McBeal from the beginning, haven`t watched it in years, love the show, so it`ll be nice to see it again.

Then maybe a glass of wine later. Love a Friday night.

I really tried to like Cowfish for sushi, but no, it was very disappointing.

At least it`s done for this time mac, one of those things. I admit the last time I had a covid vax a few years ago now, my arm was sore for a few days, but previous ones weren`t as bad.

Hope the chicken was nice, your dinner time is probably my bedtime!!

Beautiful almost summer like day here today at a balmy 68F and gorgeous sunshine!! It won`t last I`m sure but we`ll enjoy it while we can. Nothing like an autumnal day with sunshine.

Met some friends for a pot of tea in one of village cafe`s this morning, always happy to support local businesses, it was very nice and turned down a large cream cake!!! My very slim friend tucked in and ate half her husband`s too, don`t know how she does it! Then went to visit the wholesale butcher and dropped into a brand new farm store that`s opened up, not too bad but wouldn`t rush back there again, very small selection right now.

So, I`m definitely ready for lunch soon, I have parma ham, avocado and going to do a poached egg on top, well Tom will make it for me!

Doing stuffed pork fillet tonight, plum and ginger stuffing with some bullet chillies, very nice indeed with some pak choi, onion, peppers and beanshoots all stir fried in some spices too. Food is sorted for the day again!

Kettle on soon to have some tea with lunch, proper tea of course!!

Have a lovely Thursday :sunny::sunny::sunny:

woot… now all corrected!

I did wonder when you quoted me twice with no reply!!

Had a lovely late sleep this morning, heard the rain and decided we wouldn`t bother getting up for a time, still raining but it is supposed to brighten up later.

French toast, maple syrup and poached eggs for brunch today, no need for lunch after that little feast! On our second pot of tea now.

Hope the baked goods sell well at the Church Fayre this morning, we handed in quite a bit of baking last night although we did keep some goodies, will have some with afternoon tea later.

Not a single plan today, apart from mobile waxing lady coming over, my friend J is coming round so she can do her legs too, both should be here soon.

Kyle is dropping in at some point too, he`s running this morning so we`ll see him when we see him. He has a marathon tomorrow and I think they`re driving up tonight and staying over to save driving up there in the morning.

Happy Saturday :flower1:

What a great time. Wicked was excellent, with a standing ovation at the end of the show. And we walked all over. Even visited the farmer’s market. Had a nice late lunch at the Hard Rock. Can’t beat their burgers and fries. And a good waiter.

Back after late train, so 45 minutes wait for local train. Sigh. Thought we would have 9 minutes to catch the local train. Decide not to wait for older one to pick us up. Walked back, and was crossing the main drag, as we saw older one pull into our street. Came in as he was also entering the house. Time to relax and an earlier bedtime I can see. My feet are so tired.

And glad it’s only Saturday night. At least the next show, this week, will be a short walk from our home. Such a small theater, not a bad seat in there.

I am fading fast. Yeah, at least no alarm needed, though will turn it on, after I get up. I can see, hopefully, a later wake up time. Though doubt it. I am up around when alarm would go off, even on the not work day, days.

I loved Wicked. It’s the only show that I’ve actually seen on Broadway. I saw it back in 2016 when we went to NYC with the Girl Scouts. Peter Scolari played the wizard.

Wicked is amazing, we`ve seen it four times on Broadway and once in London, incredible show. Other shows we watched on Broadway were Come from Away and Newsies both of which were very good.

Hope your husband is over his cold now.

Wild and woolly here this morning with over 40mph winds, so yep, we stayed in bed a little longer again, why not. It is blowing a hoolie out there today!

Following Kyle online as he runs the marathon this morning, gotta love those trackers!!! Don`t think he`ll be beating his PB due to weather, high winds and rain up there too.
For us, not doing much at all, friends sky diving was cancelled, postponed for a few weeks yet as it was just too windy. Told them to pop by for a cuppa or lunch if they`re around later.

I have beef chin in the slow cooker for dinner tonight, slow cooked in ale, beef stock and the usual herbs and spices, will do some cream mash to go with it for that gorgeous gravy, meat will just melt when we eat it. Apple crumble from the farm for dessert with some clotted cream, lush!!!

Cup of tea time while we follow along with the marathon......

Happy Sunday!!!!

My youngest daughter (teenager) and I saw Wicked last year (not on Broadway) and loved it. She does musicals at school and is much more of a fan in general than me, but I enjoyed Wicked.

I have a question on behalf of my fiance. When I told him that the club room at RP will offer free beer and wine, he asked whether they sell cocktails, particularly vodka and cranberry, and what was the easiest way to get a cocktail in the evening at RP. I am more of a beer drinker than he is.

They used to sell hard liquor in the Club Lounge but stopped it many years ago now. It was $5 a shot and not the most popular so they got rid of it.

You can get cocktails in Orchids, Jake`s and Bula Bar. Tuk Tuk also sell ready made cocktails in their chiller cabinets.

Sunshine has come out, wind has died down and it is actually lovely now.

Huge congratulations to our son who finished the marathon in 3hrs 30 mins and 5 seconds!!! His PB so far and is probably better than that as this course is hilly and had awful weather, his last marathon was flat and nice all the way through, we are so very proud of him!!!

I doubt we`ll see him tonight as I think once they get home he`ll be chilling out. But, he said he really enjoyed it despite the weather, I think this is the last marathon in the calendar this year, but he still has some half marathons and 10k`s he runs regularly.

Beef is still simmering away nicely, Tom keeps wandering all the way through to the kitchen just to smell it, it does smell delicious!

Cuppa tea time :)

Good Sunday morning everyone :wave2:

So now my evenings are not so quiet for the next couple weeks with the kids being here. Sil didn't get home from work until late last night. So Grammie whipped up some dinner, got lunch ready for tomorrow and put pj's on. Dad came home and was able to put her to bed  Grammie was tired after that!
Grammie time is the best time. I’am sure your little granddaughter is loving every minute of her grammie time and so are you. For sure having a little one around makes more work and is tiring, but the best kind of being tired.

Epic tickets on sale next week. Hopefully APs get a soft opening. We renew in Dec.
I’am tempted. Will see how it goes.

Dinner will involve some of these hot little Fuego babies, I think this is the last of them for the season and they are spicy!!!
Those peppers are very pretty.

Good to hear your hubby is feeling better.

Congratulations to Kyle. Sounds like he did great even though he ran in poor weather conditions.

Mac hope the arm is doing well.

Janet enjoy your time at Universal. Hope you all have a good experience at HHN.

drenaline’junkie hope you wife is doing well.

Sun is shinning this morning and it is cool out. It was 50 degrees out this morning, but will warm up to 74.

Hubby did get a cold, but he has cough too. Which is not helping his back. I went out early this morning to get him some cough syrup, and kleenex tissues. This is not going to help his recovery.

My cold is a mild version of what he has. Poor guy.

Pretty convinced we picked up this bug while he was in hospital. Nothing to be done about it. On the positive side we will be immune to what every virus this was. Just sucks that he got sick on top of everything else.

On a positive note. His post op pain at surgery site is better. The pain he was having in low right back and down his right leg is gone, surgery a success in that respect

I did make a big pot of homemade chicken Noodle soup. Haven’t made it for a while. Charades post reminded me to pull out the soup pot. There is something both delicious and medicinal about the soup. Hubby did eat a bowl of it for dinner and enjoyed it. Anytime colds or flu are around the soup pot comes out for soup. It is good for the soul too.

Granddaughter texted this morning and was wanting to come over and visit. I told her that I didn’t want her getting sick too. So it would be better to wait for a visit.

My older sister D’s 21 year old grandson was in ICU for a number of days. He came down with stiff neck and fever and they could not pin point the source of the infection. They bombarded him with antibiotics and he started having blood pressure issues and heart issues. He is now out of the woods and doing better.

Our granddaughter in Kentucky that had surgery was doing better and now is having a post-op issue.

Lots of prayers going up to Gods ears for our family. Sadly sometimes when it rains it pours so to speak.

Staying positive that all will be well soon.

Have a wonderful Sunday everyone.

We have beautiful weather and it will soon be cold, so I have been enjoying the weekend, but I may be planning two short trips with each of my daughters for the spring because they want to see Universal again before the Epic craziness. They have accepted that they are not invited on the honeymoon. 😂

Oh last thing he needed was a cold!!! With any back issues coughing is a million times worse on top. But glad his pain from surgery is subsiding, however it does sound like your family are getting rained on so to speak, sending all good wishes everyone feels much better soon.

Yes, chicken noodle soup if home made, is a medicine on it`s own, can`t be beaten!

I looked back out of curiosity, last time I think they served liquor was around 2017, when they did the lounge refurb I don`t believe they included that option anymore so maybe 2018 it stopped.

lol....yep, get some trip planned for them, they`ll love it!!!

Wild and woolly night for us, some trees uprooted close by us and thankfully we had no damage, Tom went over to the farm to check on them and apart from one part of a fence being damaged they were untouched. He brought back some lemon curd she had made, you never leave empty handed when you pop in to see them!

No volunteering in school this morning for me, will wait till half term is over before going back so we did some fresh produce shopping this morning, wind has died down a little and not too cold which is nice. Tom will volunteer tomorrow I think instead of today and probably Thursday, I`m limiting him to twice a week or he`d be there almost every day.

Kyle took today off work as a holiday so he`s coming over at some point, look forward to hearing about their marathon and seeing medals and so on.

Gates are open as we have our window cleaner coming at some point too and an arborist coming to look at a tree we might be losing, it`s right at the back of a bunch of trees so we don`t really notice it, doubt we`ll miss it, but awkward for them to get to.

National Honey day, so honey mustard dressing with a salad for lunch and honey mustard chicken for dinner tonight! My husband adores honey on it`s own, for me I only like it in a dressing or sauce, or in tea if I have a sore throat.

Happy Monday.....🙂

Yea! I am so happy that all that low back and leg pain is gone. That's a big improvement for him. :)
My older sister D’s 21 year old grandson was in ICU for a number of days.
Sorry to hear that. He must have been pretty sick to go to ICU.
He is now out of the woods and doing better.
Great news, Robo.
We loved Wicked. Our favorite show we've seen on Broadway was Rent.
DJ: You are lucky to have seen Wicked. I wanted to travel to Minneapolis to see it, but things did not work out.

Happy Monday to everyone and if I missed someone please forgive me:)

I had a very busy week last week, so was absent from the SANs, and am trying to catch up with everyone.
It's so nice to hear that Robo's husband is doing better, just hope that cough goes away soon.
We are having beautiful late fall weather up in the 70's and sunny. This is so unusual for us at this time of year. So we are enjoying it:) We will get down to the 30 and 40's soon enough.

We have been busy with yard work to get it done before fall. We lost a lot of plants and shrubs this year for some reason. The plants we bought did not look all that great this year, but that was all they had. So next year we will have to buy new flowering shrubs for in for the front of the house and a new flower bed to replace some old phlox that we dug out. We are also replacing the soil as it seems to have a fungus in it which was not good for the Phlox. We have 2 apple trees to cut down to keep the bears away too. Much to do, but my husband loves doing these kind of yard things:)

We celebrated my Mom's 97th birthday last week too with much celebration. We had our big family dinner Saturday night which was very nice. She is doing great and is always in good spirits. She lives alone in a seniors apartment and is active in their activities. She just amazes me!

My son and I are 11 days from leaving for our mother/son trip to Universal. It seems like we have been waiting for a long time, and here it is almost here:) We are staying at the Royal Pacific Resort and are looking forward to some down time at the pool area and lounge and of course all the attractions too:) He is very easy going, so I won't have to run to keep up with him, LOL.

I'm heading out to clean the inside of the car since the weather is so nice, so will leave the SANs for now,

Have a great week,

ruth

Wicked is amazing Ruth, I do worry about the movie coming out, I do wonder how it`ll translate to the screen, not sure you`ll still get that tingling feeling watching it.

lol....oh no, no skydiving for us!!! They do allsorts of dangerous activities all the time and I think this would have been about their 50th skydive over the years! Crazy people!!

Glad your mum had such a lovely birthday, certainly something to celebrate and glad Roger enjoys his gardening so much, sounds like a lot of work!!! New flowerbeds sound lovely though for next year and goodness yes, this trip with your son has come around so quickly!! You`ll both have a blast!!!

Had a lovely day today, Kyle came over just after lunch and ended up staying for dinner which was lovely, we went out a drive in his car for an hour and then just chatted the rest of the day away, dinner was nice too with him being here.

It is chilly now in the evenings, heating on for a time, but we don`t have a cold house in general, so quickly warms up if it does cool down.

Watching Ally McBeal while trying to post some Trip Report.....big red X appeared when I posted all the pictures from that post, asked Corey if he can help, not sure if it`s me or another glitch!!!

Sunny and warm-ish Tuesday here.

Took advantage and walked along the woodland behind us, didn`t go right into the woods as it was still a little muddy, but it was beautiful up there, no deer around today. Dropped into the farm and had a cuppa with them on the way back, they do so well for a couple of their age, but such lovely people.

Back home for lunch and the arborist has arrived, we left the gate open but didn`t really expect them till this afternoon, tree almost down now.

Turkey, salad and coleslaw on brioche hoagies, will toast them first as it makes them extra nice. Chicken and a load of ingredients in the slow cooker for tonight, lots of garlic and rosemary!!

Not sure what we`re doing this afternoon, maybe nothing, will see what we feel like doing after lunch.

Have a lovely Tuesday :sunny:
