Something About Nothing............ #14

Awake too early again. Nothing interesting to report. I’m back to the same old dull routine.

We were so lucky in finding a cat sitter years ago when we did out of state trips
They are worth their weight in gold. I lost my first sitter when the pandemic started but she recommended the people i have now. I brought each of them a small gift from California.
Days after that will be returning to Ocala after probate.
I have no idea how any of that works. My brother and sister are handling it for our mom. She didn’t have a lot, so I imagine the process couldn’t take too long.
My one said justified them as being healthy because of the carrots & fruit in them. Like the way he thinks

My husband says the same about oatmeal cookies. They’re oatmeal, so they must be healthy.
charade congratulations on your college degree
Thank you. It took 38 years to complete and I’m glad it’s finally over.
Glorious sunshine once again.
We had lots of rain yesterday and it looks like it will rain for the next 10 days. We probably need it, but it would be nice to have a sunny day or two.
gals- How doth your garden grow?
No garden for me. I am inept at maintaining plants.
Sending a shout out to schumigirl. She has been missing here for a few days. She is missed.
Has anyone heard from her?
Been a both frustrating and emotional roller coaster past few days. Hubby has been sick and I’am getting a good look at how our local hospital is working lately and I’am not impressed.
Prayers that he gats better soon.
But the good news is - I now I have 4 weekends off in a row.
Yay. Enjoy your time off.

I’m going to try to get some more sleep before I actually have to get up and get ready for work.

Mac, it is hard to loose every family member. Sending you hugs. I know your brother will be happy you are taking care of what he had. And if I didn’t have a family member with severe cat dander allergies, I’d take a couple of those Ocala cats.

Ah as they say, nothing like a holiday Monday and bonus Friday lazy too, to be back to that week day routine the rest of the week days.

And so, the day Mac gets that Taco Bell meal reminder, though have to say, the chicken you picked up was a better meal. Our dinner last night was pan fried chicken, with tomatoes and yellow and orange peppers fried with the chicken. And your choice of roll or rice. I had rice.

Thus, we get that day of the week, it’s the most terrific Taco Tuesday today. Meaning the rest of the week will be coming soon. And a commuting day before the week day routine ends. But glad the weather has been more warm. But not today. 78 degrees the high. Yep, a cold front is around, giving us more days, where the AC will not be heard. 69 the high temp, with rain in the forecast on our Thursday. Eh, we do need more wet weather days, and from the 10 day forecast, seems like we have chances of rain every single day.

Good morning all. Tea, screen and mostly quiet. That’s it. And even with not hearing the house AC on, the house feels a bit cool. See, our overnights have been in the low 60’s, with today at 62 degrees right now. Yep, hot tea for me.

Ooh Charade, was posting at almost same time. Hope you do get back to sleep some more before having to get to work. I’m always up early, as I start early. At least where I am, open is 6am to 6pm. There are at least quite few who start like me, start at that early time work is open.

I like the early morning hours as no one mows their lawns until 10.

easy to sleep in a bit and have quite mornings.

Not that I sleep pass 7:00 am that is…
Cats scream for food way before then.

This is when having a husband who will feed the cats before they scream for food comes in handy
lol

I can’t imagine starting work at 6am. I am so not a morning person. My usual wake up time is 7:30. I would sleep later if I could.

It's a taco Tuesday today!

I hope @macraven and her Mr get to stop in and enjoy it today.

So far, it's a beautiful day. Sun is shinning and crossing my fingers the wind stays down. It is still cool here, but slowly supposed to warm up again by the weekend. If you check the news....Jasper national park and ski hills received snow. Jasper is about 400 km's or 250ish miles away. The snow did come within about 200 km's of here. Such a WERID season this year. Fires, now flooding in areas where towns were evacuated...and toss in some snow and the odd tornado :scared1:.

Quiet day at work. Getting lots of little tasks done again. Still working on getting our H&S binders current and nicely organized with tabs/dividers etc etc etc. Then probably a little shredding as well today.

I'm thinking a quick red meat ( elk ) stir fry for dinner tonight. And if the wind stays down - a walk as well. I gotta take advantage of all the outside walking I can before the cold weather sets in.

Have a great day everyone!

You all should join me at Taco Bell for dinner

Will treat everyone!!
We are at track camp with GD. She picked Drury inn for the evening kickback. Kid knows her mind.

We shopped in area all day. I finally deposited him on a couch in the mega mall as his eyes were rolling back in his head from boredom

Lunch in a real diner. DeLucas, was featured on that man vs food show in the past. I’ve been jonesing for good eggs Benedict

Stopped at a pet store. The dog whose head was being used for a pillow was without a care in the world lol

How cute and yum Keisha.

Pumpkin, eek tornado. We had 2 recorded and confirmed the other day. Like having sunshine for sure.

And to think, if I’m FLA, it’s rainy. My phone weather app knows I go to there, so warning of storms flashed for Orlando on my phone. Nope, not here yet. We get Charade’s rain in two more days.

Hoagiefest at our Wawa’s, so kids picked me up a hoagie for lunch. What’s for dinner? Maybe bbq? Not sure what kids are in mood for.

Today has been such a frustrating day. I started the day dealing with Medicaid. In Virginia Medicaid contracts with other insurance companies such as United and Anthem. We als have what we call "straight Medicaid" which is handled by the Virginia Department of Medical Services. I sent claims to DMAS, but they were rejected because behavioral health claims are processed by a company called Magellan. I sent the claims to Magellan and they were rejected because my boss isn't contracted with Magellan. I asked how to get her contracted and was told that she had to go through DMAS. DMAS says she is already contracted with Magellan, Magellan says she isn't. Meanwhile I have over 1K work of claims that no one will take responsible for. Each company refers me back to the other. I'm beginning to feel like this Spider-man meme.

This afternoon I decided to spend the Visa gift card my brother gave me for graduation. I went clothes shopping, looking specifically for tops. I went to 4 stores and only found 1 thing I liked. Most everything was either fall colors, made for teenagers, or sleeveless.

Okay, fine. I'll try online. I found some things on the JCPenney website that I liked. My total cam to a little more then the value of my gift card. JCP won't allow split payments unless one form is a JCP gift card. I tried purchasing a digital gift card for the exact amount on my VISA, but that type of transaction is not allowed. Ugh! I finally i used my regular credit card to purchase a small JCP gift card, applied that to my balance and then used the gift VISA to pay the rest of the order. I wanted to take the VISA to a zero balance, but now I still have a small credit left on it. Maybe I can use it to buy lunch or something.

Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Two frustrating times, Charade. I hope you can resolve that insurance issue today, and at least enjoy some lunch with the leftover of that gift card balance. I haven’t shopped at JCP in years. We only have one left in the three malls near me. They went out of the closest and huge malls years ago now.

Ooh and who do I see today?

IMG_1657.jpeg

Aww, camel wishing us a happy hump day. And so, I am too, as we get over this hump of a day feeling of the middle of the week, a most fabulous Friday feeling in one more day. And yep, a commuting day before that Friday wahoo feeling.

Weather. But what do we have after our cooler than average Spring?

IMG_1658.jpeg
Yes, the first day of Summer is here. Happy about that? Well yes I am. Everything is green and it’s warm. Well it should be warm. Sigh. Maybe a cooler than average Summer for us too. Guess what high temp we have this late in the June month? 72 degrees, with 67 the high with the rain coming on Thursday. Thirsty we are. I guess so, as state has been saying we are still having parched. So rainy day on my commuting day, and rain to start when most are asleep, at midnight tonight. Sigh.

Cooler weather start to our Summer indeed. In our 7 day, all but two days have highs in the mid 70’s. Monday should be the warmest, with 86 the high. Followed before by the second highest at 82 degrees. And kinda fitting, rain for the next three days, with a day of partly sunny, then with two more rainy days before we have a full day of sunshine next Thursday. Sigh. Jacket maybe on my lunchtime walk.

A wonderful Wednesday here. Hope all have a most wonderful Wednesday today. And a very good morning.

Good Wednesday morning everyone

Oh Robo, yeah many are stretched with not enough staff. I hope your DH feels better soon. Sending mummy dust well wishes to him.
Thank you Lynne. Yes, many hospitals are working short staffed. This local hospital is utilizing traveling Nurses to supplement their staff needs. One of his Nurses was a travel Nurse and he was wonderful.

Oh no, sorry to hear that. Hope he feels better soon. Great thing he has you for an advocate
Thank you. I hope you son feels better soon too. Always stressful when dealing with unknown issues.

Another dr appt/specialist for my DS today. Is it awful to say I’m not sure what it’s for offhand? All sorts runs together when in the thick of it
Hope your sons appts go well.

That is a moment. Ours are doing rather poorly. The cabbage, onions & garlic are only veggies doing well this year.
My hair dresser who is also a Master Gardner told me to buy mushroom compost and add it to my soil before planting. I found some at Rule King and added it to by small little patch of soil under my kitchen window outside and it seems to be doing great. She also sold me two cucumber plants, two tomato plants and two marigold plants and they are the healthiest plants I have ever seen.

thats sad to hear about your local hospitals. Hope your husband gets the care he needs. It’s good that he has you to advocate for him.
Yay for the cucumber! I didn’t plant anything this year except for tomatoes and strawberries. The spring was terrible so didn’t bother. one year I found Japanese cucumbers, they grew really well and tasty.
Thank you Sue.

I now I have 4 weekends off in a row. I'm ready to have some time off and spend it with the dh and kids - plus make a trip to the city to see the kids and gd too. Hoping to start off this coming weekend fishing. Dh and boys tried on Saturday - but the wind came up and they couldn't get back onto the lake after coming off to cook up some lunch. The fish were biting, so I had some grumpy men when I got home from work on Saturday.
Great to hear you will have some weekends off to enjoy some down time doing what you want.

Robbie hope your husband will start to feel better soon
Thank you Mac. I know you are still in the thick of things dealing with the loss of your brother and now having to deal with settling his estate. I hope you are able to get his estate settled in timely matter. Lots of prayers being sent your way dear lady:hug:

When my parental units passed, I was able to hold it all together
and accepted it.
They had a good long life and elderly in their 90’s
With brother, it’s too close for home for me.
We were two years apart in age and were best friends.
I can‘t imagine how sad it must be to lose a sibling you are so close too. It does hit home as we get older to lose a sibling so close in age. I think it reminds us to live everyday to its fullest doing the things that bring us joy for sure.

Prayers that he gats better soon.
Thank you Charade.

Congratulations for sticking it out and getting your Degree. There are many people who talk about going back to college and few that do it. You should be proud of yourself.

Lunch in a real diner. DeLucas, was featured on that man vs food show in the past. I’ve been jonesing for good eggs Benedict
Your Lunch looks delicious. I love Eggs Benedict. It is my guilty pleasure for breakfast once in awhile.

Wow…..lots of hoops to jump through to use your gift card, but you figured it out and came out on top.

Hope all is well with schumi and family. You are missed on the Sans.

It is a sunny morning. Quiet start to the day.

Hubby is home and we have an Appt with specialist this am. He is progressing.

Grandson is staying with us to help hubby with his ambulation. Grandson is 6 foot 3 inches tall and played football and plays rugby. So he has the muscles to help grandpa. He is a wonderful grandson and is happy to be here and help and we are very thankful to have him with us.

I called and canceled our hotel stay at SF and the airline arrangements. I was taking grandson to Universal for a week. We were supposed to have left next Thursday. It was easy cancelling resort arrangements, but airline was another thing.

I have never had to cancel airline arrangements. I was put on hold forever to talk to someone at Allegiant. They would not return my money, but gave me a voucher for future travel minus the carrier usage fee. The agent said I would have to email Allegiant myself to see if they would return carrier usage fee. I will see how that goes. I did email Allegiant and did get a response from them saying they would look at it and let me know.

I saw that the knew Minion area at Universal is open. The Villain ride is not open yet, but everything else is. I watched a vlogger there and it looks great. They tried a lot of the food at the Minion Cafe and said it was good.

Need to get scootin this morning.

Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone doing whatever makes you happy.

Oh Robo, so sorry you had to cancel your trip, but being home is more important. Hope you get all your airfare money back. It is nice the Lowes hotels let you cancel easily. How wonderful to have your grandson help with care. I hope your DH does well with his appointment this morning.

Mac, it’s 9:30 here, and I’ve heard a neighbor doing noisy yard work since about 1/2 hour ago. Guess on week days, assume can start earlier.

Older one out the door to help drive a friend to her work. Told him, since he passes three Dunkin’ places, he can stop at one and pick me up a sandwich. Will see if he does or not in the next hour. But then when he comes back, he will get ready to go to work. DH is almost done his, his has a maximum flex hour time, so as long as he does at least 4 hours on a day, he can make up the other 4 hours during the pay period, so that 80 or more hours are recorded for that two week period. I like to be on a set time. So lunch still hours away. Oh well. Glad no commuting today. But will be to bed earlier for sure tonight. I like to be out the door earlier rather then later. Traffic at that early hour is not much. And as schools are now out, my afternoon ride home should be five to ten minutes quicker. That after school traffic always makes my afternoon commute 45 or more minutes long. In the summer, can be around 35 or so.

Legally blonde I will be this afternoon. Glad to be pampered. My hair sometimes seems to need more cutting during the summer. I go 4 to 5 weeks instead of 5 to 6 weeks when it’s colder between appointments.

Today is off to an interesting start. Someone clogged the toilet in our client bathroom and just left it there without telling anyone. I was plunging a toilet at 9:15 this morning.

I haven’t shopped at JCP in years. We only have one left in the three malls near me. They went out of the closest and huge malls years ago now.
I worked at a JCP ages ago, but that store no longer exists. Lately the selection has been really poor in the stores. I can see why many are closing.

I called and canceled our hotel stay at SF and the airline arrangements. I was taking grandson to Universal for a week. We were supposed to have left next Thursday. It was easy cancelling resort arrangements, but airline was another thing.
So sorry you had to cancel your trip. I can sympathize. Good luck with the airline.

I saw that the knew Minion area at Universal is open. The Villain ride is not open yet, but everything else is. I watched a vlogger there and it looks great. They tried a lot of the food at the Minion Cafe and said it was good.
I am really looking forward to seeing this in September.

Back to work.

Ick Chaeade. I she’s try s say, I’m our ladies bathroom, seen not flushed toilets. Annoying that you had to clean it up.

Laptop said had to reboot and update. Okay then, have at it. Been a white circle for over an hour. Tried to turn it off, doesn’t work. Ugh. May have to call the IT line. I hope I don’t have to come in, for them to look at it.

It's that hump day today as @Lynne G reminded me  I love her mid week post reminding us!

It's another sunny day here - which I'll take. The wind is still low but really cool. I had to put my sweater on as soon as I stepped outside. Hopefully the wind stays down, but I am NOT holding my breath. The way my head feels, I'm pretty sure there will be high winds today.

Last night I whipped up a stir fry and used a fresh chow mien noodle - ummmmm reminder for next time to lightly fry the noodles and NOT steam them. It was yummy - at least to me. My hard working boys thought other wise and were back in the kitchen shortly after dishes were done making sammies and cereal  to fill their bellies. Not every meal can be their favorite! Tonight I have the other half of the roast I used for the stir fry and it's going to be some type of beef dip tonight.

I didn't get for my walk last night. It was haircut night last night and I cut dh and one ds's hair. Then a phone call to my parents to wish them Happy anniversary.

now I still have a small credit left on it. Maybe I can use it to buy lunch or something.
That sounds like a frustrating day! Billing is a nightmare at times for sure.

Your JCP experience sounds painful as well. And then companies wonder why their sales are going down - It's because of things like this.

I hope your day improves! I work with all men - enough said about that! All shop guys are not allowed to use the main bathroom anymore. It is for me - and visitors. I don't even let delivery guys use it. They can use the bathroom the shop guys use - after one incident with a delivery guy doing disgusting things in our main bathroom.
Grandson is staying with us to help hubby with his ambulation. Grandson is 6 foot 3 inches tall and played football and plays rugby. So he has the muscles to help grandpa. He is a wonderful grandson and is happy to be here and help and we are very thankful to have him with us.

It's great you have someone who is able to help you and yo ur dh while he is convalescing.

It sucks you had to cancel your trip!!!! I know how disappointing that is. I hope you are able to reschedule it soon.
Leggally blonde I will be this afternoon. Glad to be pampered. My hair sometimes seems to need more cutting during the summer. I go 4 to 5 weeks instead of 5 to 6 weeks when it’s colder between appointments
Enjoy your appointment! I have an appointment for next week...and I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am really looking forward to it. We all need those pampering days.

Well, I should go find more papers to shuffle.

Have a great day everyone!

@Pumpkin1172 Yay for 4 weekends off! In B.C we’re dying, you can imagine. They’re starting to call it Juneuary! It was nice weather then all of a sudden-bam. temps dropped and been miserable -damp, drizzle and cold. Can’t believe it’s first day of summer! BUT my daughter is on a kayak trip off Port Hardy, Van Isl and she finally got some bars on cell phone so she texted me today, they’ve had beautiful weather. Go figure! I’m in long sleeves and huddled up on sofa with a throw. And fireplace going. Sheesh! Snow has been seen in the Okanagan. No one here drives well in the snow lol.
I can feel your good vibes! Thanks. The Mr just came down with sore throat and feeling quite sick. I’ve quarantined him to the bedroom. My surg is only a week away!

@macraven Mac sounds like you have things under control. Good save with the ashes :scared:
I can’t imagine loosing my brother, yes it does hit close to home. We are 5 yrs apart but have always been close even though on opposite coasts. Hugs to you.

@Lynne G thanks, I don’t anticipate seed implant will be too bad. Worst will be the freezing.
We have some beautiful waters here for kayaking! Youngest is on a trip at the moment on islands off the Vancouver Island coast.

@Charade67 we seem to have the same schedule. Up at 3:00am then up early :sad2:

@macraven i was so disappointed. Was out for lunch yesterday at a riverfront pub. Th ey had a Taco Tues special. Then I read it didn’t start till after 4:00

@keishashadow where is the Drury Inn? I hear they built one in Disney Springs. The chain Always gets good reviews. Maybe when I get back to wdw I’ll try it since they took away most of the perks of staying on-site.
That Benny looks good! And cute Dalmation!

@Charade67 oh what a frustrating day. When my mom was alive I found navigating the US health system so confusing. I’d preface each conversation with, I’m sorry please be patient with me, I don’t know anything about the US healthcare. I was in charge of everything with mom.

@Robo56 thats wonderful your grandson is coming to help out! Sorry you had to cancel your trip, that’s always sad. It’s looking better for me not to have to cancel Aug trip since I won’t need Chemo. Fingers crossed.

@Lynne G always feels good getting fresh hair!

@Charade67 hope the rest of your day went better!

Nothing much today. Spent it running around doing errands and City Hall to pay property tax :scared:
Behind City Hall is the weekly farmers market. I had a look. Imo most of the stuff was way over priced. But did pick up a nice looking loaf of sour dough.
Trying to get things done before surgery and was afraid I’d forget about property tax. Due a few days after surg. Def wanted that done.
Tomorrow morning is seed implant.

Sue, I hope your August trip is a go, and hope your appointment is quick and not painful. Wonderful to hear no chemo. I changed our first night to CB, because snagged a very good rate, and the rest of our week at RPR at a pretty good rate. Had reservations for all nights at RPR, but saving quite a bit by doing first night at CB. Did it mainly because we don’t arrive until early evening, so doubt we will go to the parks when we arrive, and just relax and maybe some night pool time. We don’t mind staying at CB. And it’s a short drive over to RPR the next morning.

Getting ready for bed. Made some hot tea, as house feels a little cool. Got laptop all ready to travel.

Have a very good night’s sleep everyone.

Sue, my brain is about the size of a pea right now so sending you good wishes for your surgery at the near end of this month

Hope all will go smooth and you get good drugs and will feel no pain in your recovery.
