Went to the vets tonight and tried to pay with my credit card and it was declined!! :scared1:

Got home and checked online and there was a transaction for an Italian telecoms company that I hadn't made!
I phoned Nationwide and stopped the card. There was also a number of other transactions that weren't mine, although the company details hadn't come through on the system yet.
I guess Nationwide were suspicious, hence the reason my card was declined.

This is the first time I've had a card declined or used fraudulently - it's quite a shock.

OMG that's terrible.

At least you've been able to stop the card.

Hope it all gets sorted soon

That is terrible, though at least you realised and hopefully you will get the money back.

That's awful Tim. It's quite a shock isn't it. DH's credit card was cloned in Florida the Christmas before last. Luckily it was at the end of our holiday and we had advised the card company of our travel dates so it was stopped automatically before they had done too much damage and they sorted it all quickly with no hassle whatsoever. It's sadly all to common nowadays. :sad2:

Oh poor you, Tim, what a nasty shock. I really hope it doesn't cost you anything financially. Stiff drink is in order, I think.

That's shocking Tim ~ Hope you get it sorted out quickly.

That is horrible. Hope you get it sorted out soon.

Shocking news Tim, hope you manage to get it sorted out:hug:

fingers crossed tim that they get it sorted soon, its a bit of a kick up the reality isn't it? these things always happen to 'someone else'

Bad news mate, happened to us before and have seen it happen all too many times to others.

Whilst it should never cost you, it is still unpleasant. We had a call from our credit card company earlier this week asking if a transaction for $1 was ours, which it wasn't. So we had to wait for new cards to come out to us, which they did in a couple of days. So, ostensibly nothing has affected us - no financial loss and we now have replacement cards, but still is a little annoying/upsetting/infuriating! Bring back the gallows I say!!

Good luck with getting that sorted Tim! :scared: I hope they are as good as Barclaycard were a few years ago :)

We have had this happen to us twice. Once it was with a cheque book that the bank had posted and we never received, as luck had it i spotted it immediately as i had been checking the rate for our holidays regularly. I had to report it to the police because the bank did not know wether it had been stolen from them or whilst it had been going through the postal system(1500 was written as a personal cheque). Very scary but was sorted in no time. The second time was with my debit card and that had been used to fund some muslim charity.

I know that horrible 'stomache hit the floor feeling' when the card is declined and you know there should be sufficient funds, yes cloning has happened to me as well and it's a horrible feeling, luckily my bank were great about it. Hope you get yours sorted soon as well.

How awful, hope you get it sorted quickly.

It is such a shock when your CC gets refused. This happened to us twice in about 4 months last year, and we had to get replacement cards. I got a bit paranoid trying to work out how it had happened. I always make sure I carry 2 credit cards with me now.

Hope you get it sorted quickly

Nationwide fraud department has called. They spotted the dodgy transactions and automatically stopped the card - hence why it was declined at the vets.

They went through all the transactions over the past few days - all in Italy for telecoms (mobile) companies. Came to over £1000.

They have said that all money and interest from the dodgy transactions will be credited back to my account.

Sounds like Nationwide were on the ball in spotting the transactions and stopping the card. Still a nasty experience for you - I'm sorry :grouphug:
