Someone took our Christmas Tree!

DH, DD and I went to our local Christmas tree farm the day after Thanksgiving and tagged a tree. We felt it was still too early to put up a live tree. DH went back yesterday to cut the tree and it was GONE! Someone else apparently removed our tag, stuck it in their pocket or something, and took our tree! Now we have to go back on Friday after DD gets out of school and look for another one! The owner of the lot said he was sorry, but it happens 2 or 3 times every year. I feel like we were paid a visit by the Grinch before we could even put the tree in the house!

On another note, DH's cousin put up a live tree this week and soon after saw little baby spiders crawling all over the floor. There must have been an egg sack on the tree and they all hatched out. He was concerned for his children so he took the tree into their garage, put some newspaper under it, and sprayed the upper branches (not the lower ones that the kids could reach) with Raid or something. They all went to church and when they came back, not only were there dead spiders on the newspaper, but dead ticks too! He called the person he bought the tree from and he said it's probably because we haven't had a really hard freeze yet. So, if you live in a place where it's kind of warm, you might want to check your tree to make sure nature didn't leave a decoration of its own!

YIKES! to both. It's a shame that some people seem to have no morals any more. I hope the tree they took looses all its needles before Christmas and all they have is sticks on Christmas morning. It would serve that person right.

Thanks for the spider thing. Now I can't stop looking all over the floor. That's awful!

I'm so sorry about your tree....maybe it'll be full of "natural" surprises for it's NEW owner!!

GROSS GROSS GROSS about the spiders and ticks....my aunt had that happen a few years ago....but they had it all decorated, with presents under it and all. It was just a few days before Christmas and spiders were just crawling all over the packages.....YUCK!!!!! They haven't had a live tree since...now we are still going out and cutting our own down, but haven't had anything like that happen yet....knock on wood.

Yep, my tree came with a free bonus too. I found a long red thing with a a million legs crawling around under the tree.

Last year's bonus was better - a tiny, perfect little bird's nest.

YUCK! Dead spiders and ticks. My dd would have a fit if she saw those spiders (I'd have a fit if I saw the ticks ).

Ew on the bugs! I've never found anything living in my Christmas trees before.

I'm so sorry that someone was heartless enough to take your tree. Hopefully they find a lil' buggie or something in it to make up for it

Also, be glad none of you have a squirrel in your tree, much like Christmas Vacation. "SQUIRREL!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

It's funny to me that your DH told you..

I read this to DH just now, and he said just what I thought he would

" I wouldn't have told you, I'd just have cut down another tree, you'd never know the difference, considering once the limbs drop they look different!"

They didn't charge extra for the spiders and ticks did they? Well, the spiders would have been more than welcome to stay....but ick to the tick.

You will have fun again looking for another tree! You will be on an adventure....look at it that way.

Oh man I just got my first real tree this year and now I'm scared to death!!! I hope I hope I hope I don't get any creepy crawlers!!! I don't like spiders!!!

I hate when that happens.
Something similar happened to us at Thanksgiving. We had tagged a turkey and when we went to get it, someone else must have taken it.
So we got a ham instead.
