Just walked in the door with a Nikon D5000 and the 2 lenses. I can't believe I just spent that much to take pictures but I really want to get my foot in the door to the DSLR world. I've been reading about them and trying them out in stores for months I just can't believe it finally happened! I did the right thing right?

If you're looking for someone to tell you you did the WRONG thing, I kinda think you came to the wrong place...... :rotfl2:

I bought my first DSLR in 2004. I saved enough in monthly film developing that it paid for itself in the first year...... And it saved me the expense of building a wing onto the house to keep all the prints and negatives.......

Now if you were digital already.... maybe it's harder to justify..... :goodvibes

Have fun!

Well I thing you did the wrong thing..... you should have bought a flash with it ;)

Enjoy your new camera!

Of course you did the right thing! Don't NateNLogan deserve to have the best possible photos taken of them? ;)

Now continue to do the right thing and start thinking of more lenses!

What's a "film developing?" :lmao: Kust kidding. I've been in the digital world for quite a while. I remember when I saw the first cameras that went to a whopping 800x600, it was a huge upgrade from the 640x480! The crazy part about the whole DSLR thing is that last year I would have asked what the heck you were talking about......than I found the Disboards. It's gonna bankrupt me I tell ya! Darn boards.

I looked at them for about 5 minutes before my wife told me I'm not allowed to show up at a family function with a big ol' lens and a big ol' flash sticking off the top! :lmao:
The economy thanks you too! :thumbsup2:rotfl2:

Will I get a stimulus check from it?

They do and I did! I was asking the sales guy about a 35mm or 50mm fixed but he didn't have any in stock. I'm going to play around with the range I have now and see which one I'd rather have.

I'm already looking at extra batteries, faster cards, and a remote release....and I've had the camera now for less than 7 hrs:rotfl2:

Well, I had a rough morning (but the camera really cheered me up) so I took the night off from work and was able to make Nate's soccer practice! I'm liking this camera! I can't wait to start reading the manual :rotfl2:

Fantastic! I know my kids are what I got my first (and second...and third....) dslr's for. Enjoy! :thumbsup2

Do you think a Nikon owner will ever tell you did wrong buying a Nikon?

NO WAY

Congrats and enjoy!

I bought my D5000 a month ago-going to Disney next week-you won't hear me say you did the wrong thing.
Now it's time to get a good flash, RAW software and a f1.4 primary lens-I think second mortgage rates have come down!

I'm sweating over buying my first one! I have a feeling I may be buried with this thing around my neck!

My wife thinks it's funny how there's Nikon people, Cannon people, etc...
Guess I'm a Nikon guy! Has there ever been anyone who converted? :lmao:

I'm going to need another job so support my new hobby aren't I?

If we can catch them soon enough and have an intervention, we almost always save them!:rotfl:

Awesome pics, brought back memories too, that is where Joey played soccer at your sons' age. I really liked they way they ran it down there, so much more fun then Rid. United.

Might I ask what your two lens purchases were? Were they part of the "kit"?

I'm a Canon guy, but mostly because our first dslr was the original Canon Rebel and we had some lenses, so I stayed with the "system."

However, I think that the Nikon lenses, even the kit ones, offer better pictures "out of the box" so to speak. The soccer pictures in the early morning light are just superb!

If I had it to do all over again, I'd go Nikon. My actual dream camera is the Nikon 300ds (the new one they just came out with the HD video).
