Someone tell me I did the right thing!

I think I'm going to buy a lottery ticket tonight. There's way too many lenses to choose from!

I have been trying to read your trip report which I found on the photography board now I am reading this post. Whew I am getting confused but have certainly learned a lot about you and your very cute family.

I am in the market for a new camera and I am really leaning towards the 5000 but the recall has me nervous. I do not want to buy the camera to have it die on me on the day I neeeeeed it to work. I know they are fixing them but for that amount of money I want a camera that works and stays working. I am also looking at the new 300 and was wondering why you chose the 5000 over it.

I think your pics are great from the soccer game and understand about fast kids.

My othr dilemma is I was saving for a DSLR when on our last trip to WDW my husband dropped my point and shoot. I take it with me everywhere and love that it fits in my pocket or purse. So, first I think I have to replace that one and was wondering what your wife had. I saw the pink camera hanging form her neck and was curious. My DD2 is a stinker and smiles while she is waiting for my camera to take her pic then at the last moment she stops doing whatever she was doing and just stands there with a look of nothing on her face. I need a fast point and shoot to catch those moments.:wizard:

Let's start at the beginning. My first choice was going to be the D90. I drooled over that for quite some time and read up on it on so many reviews I could have written one myself without even using it. In my free time I stopped over at Best Buy a few times just to play with it and see how it felt in my hands. Then one day the D5000 appeared next to it and it was lighter but it didn't feel as durable. I talked to the guy who was so-so on knowing what it can and can't do. After reading up on it, it seemed like the D5000 had most if not all the things I really wanted in the D90. The D300 was nice too but the 5000 just felt better in my hands.

Another deciding factor was the price. The 5000 and a kit lens was about 400-500 cheaper than the D90. I scoped it out for a while and ended up at Ritz Camera in DE (No Sales Tax) I ended up getting the 5000, a Nikon Bag (it's ok but I've gotten a Lowe Pro Slingshot since,) a Nikon DVD, the 18-55mm, the 55-200mm VR, a Cannon printer, and a 1 year warranty (that covers just about everything but theft or fire) for $1050 plus a $50 rebate.

Right now Tina's sleeping and I swear I can't find anything without asking her first:lmao: I just checked 2 of her 750 handbags but it wasn't in there. (Side note she doesn't have that many, it just seems like it! Who would have known certain color bags only "work" for certain seasons!)

Check back with me tomorrow and I'll find out what it is. I know I bought it at Best Buy just before Christmas. It's a Nikon 10MP but I have no idea on the model # off the top of my head. The reg price was $149 but it was on sale for $129. Send me a PM tomorrow afternoon in case I forgot.

I was off a little on her camera. It's only 8mp. It's the Nikon Coolpix S10. Ebay has a good amt under $110 now.
