Someone tell me about Pal Mickey?

I've seen tons of posts about sitting for PM, and swapping PM, but what is it? How much does it cost? Is it worth it to buy one? We will be there for 7 days this year, but probably won't go back for at least 2 years. I want my kids to enjoy this trip to the fullest, but I don't want to get things that will turn out a waste of $$$.....

Pal Mickey is a plush toy that can be clipped to a fanny pack or backpack, Mickey is approx. 12". At each park he tells hints of things that are going on as you pass it. He activates at each different park, it can be hard to hear, we held him up to our ear most of the time. He also plays games when you are not at a park. You can rent them for $8.00 a day for as long as you want (they replace batteries free if renting). If you rent it you can apply the fee to the purchase price which is $60.00. Warning...it would be hard to give him back!!!
